This visitor center and museum adds to the charm in Roanoake. I stopped by during my lunch break and spent time to view artifacts and learn the history of Roanoake. The lady at the front desk was welcoming and knowledgeable about the museum. I like the addition of interactive pieces in the museum which made the experience better. They have a souvenir stand at the back and a guessing game. If you win the guessing game you get to choose between two shirts. I got the Roanoake tape measure and a free shirt from the guessing game. All in all it was a lunch break well spent and the ladies working there were lovely. I recommend stopping by if you are in the area.

From the moment you walk into this exceptional little Museum, you are greeted by a vast of knowledge from three incredibly dedicated and welcoming employees. They commence by escorting you and your children throughout their beautiful and wonderful exhibits. They are so kind and gentle with your children. These marecoulous women get your children engaged in the historical world of Roanoke, Texas. I felt like I traveled back in time. Best of all, our friends were allowed to participate and expand on their knowledge. All their questions were answered so patiently and the children were allowed to touch certain items and explore. The kindness of all these women blew my mind. They even hugged us without hesitation at the end of our unscheduled tour. Also, we are now in their Facebook page, so Yes, they made us famous. Please, please, go check out this time capsule. It a small Museum that packs a Huge Punch . Enjoy and don't forget to ask about their scavenger hunt!!! Thank you ladies, it was an experience we will never forget.

Talk about epic this museum may not seem like much but for such a small place it's jam packed with local history. Not just that but they had a signature from Sam Houston. If you enjoy local museum this is the place for you.

Top notch place to visit. Brochures, maps, unsolicited advice, friendly staff. Cool building too. Be sure to check out the "before" pictures... And be sure to pull on the cord to hear the train horn. Bottom line: It really is worth taking the time to visit this place, if you are in Roanoke.

A very cute little museum and vistor's center. Curated by someone with a lot of passion. I loved my visit, seeing the old photos, the history of the town. All in all a very good way of passing a few minutes while waiting for my lunch companion.

Love this place! A great place to learn more about our wonderful town. Stoped on a Saturday near closing and the historian was more than happy to relive the creation of Roanoke. I even got a free coaster set for answering a question. What a wonderful way to get kids into history! Although this is normally a one and done kind of activity, I plan on going back when I'm hosting guests! Grab a shirt for $10 bucks and support our community.

Having grown up in Roanoke during 20's, and 30's and having my parents live there until the 60's, I am very impressed with the work that has been done to gather and display all the items that bring back so many memories. I have visited the museum several times and always find it interesting. Thanks so much for a job well done.---Bill Manire

Old Roanoke hotel, hubbies Aunt Dollie and Uncle Calvin Craige husbands dads mothers brother used to own it but he never went to historic librarian to tell them about the owner ship, I wish he had it was also rented out to friend of the family for a while back in the day, it has been restored a couple yrs or so ago! Wish we could get that corrected for history purposes, The web site doesn't do the Museum justice, they have a lot of pictures before the hotel was restored and they did a awesome job on the restoration and a lot of artifacts of the old Roanoke. Also use to play there as a kid as many of us did while it was abandant, the wall was falling down on the north side....The GOOD OLE DAYS .....
