When looking for an inexpensive activity for my kids I came upon this place. It's a beautiful outdoor nature park with a few inside elements. They have a room with a few interactive games that my kids liked. For my 2 kids and I it was $11 to go in that room. Honestly it wasn't really necessary, and we wouldn't have missed out if we didn't go in there. But I didn't mind since everything else was free. We only stayed for about an hour. It was nice to just enjoy the outdoors. There weren't any animals outdoors to view. But it was still super pleasant. I would say skip the special room unless you want to just donate to the center.

My son and I had an amazing time. The staff was super welcoming and helpful. Elley was very knowledgeable and helpful. She gave us a tour and answered all of my questions. This place is a hidden gem, if you have kiddos; they'll love the place.

Came here to have a nature filled day and was disappointed by lack of offerings for small kids. Had a 4.5, 3 and 2 year old with us and there was little for them to do. We chose to do the free things only so I can't speak on the paid side, however, the front desk staff didn't make it seem very appealing. With 5-6 reptiles that you were unable to touch, it didn't seem worthwhile to pay. Instead the kids did all the free things in the building - looking at organisms under microscopes, building blocks and magnatiles and looking at a few reptiles behind glass. We also sat by the lake outdoors and walked the path for a nature walk. Unfortunately, based on time of year there wasn't much to see. Would give it 2 stars but the staff was really kind so I had to give it 3 stars.

My toddler loved it here ! The interactive activities were a great way to keep her busy while still enjoying herself. Admission was $5 for adults and $3 for children (2 and up) The trails are well kept and easy to follow. We say beautiful butterflies all along the path. The ponds had turtles and tad poles in it.

This was our first visit. I didn't feel like the exhibit space was interactive enough. There's not much to do in the exhibit and there is a fee for entry. If we had skipped it we wouldn't have missed out on much. My kids are 2&3 and the other activities in the building were perfectly suitable for them. I loved the the space was quiet and we were like the only ones there at the time. We went out on a couple trails they were quiet we had a ladybug encounter situation and we also saw what looked like a horned toad or lizard it was fast. Then we went back inside and I was relaxing when I noted sign on all the doors I did not notice all the times I had already gone through there. A "Caution copperhead season" sign. Are you kidding me? I feel like someone should've said " hey just want to remind you of the poisonous snakes that are all over the place out there". That would've been amazing. I would've never stepped foot out there! I left so fast!! I'm sure this will draw some kind of crowds but for me this is a hard pass. Little side note to the center people. Please make trail maps I know you think these trails are impossible to get lost on but for the inexperienced like myself I can say this is entirely possible. Just saying it would be awful for someone to be lost out there. The place is huge and if you take the scenic drive out there you'll know what I'm talking about.

Beautiful area with great walking trails, but we were disappointed that the science center was not open.

I rarely give 5 stars but this place really deserves it. First off, if you are an adult, bring the kids. If you don't have kids, or cannot borrow them, then you won't be happy here; it's very limited with only about 1/2 mile of trails. But everything is left in a natural state. It is very rustic and undeveloped. The museum is also kid sized and when we were there on 9/2/17 was under construction (no dings for that). I cannot say how great this is for the under 7 set. For 7-10 it might not be enough; go next door to the River Parks which has lots longer trails, play areas, ball fields, and bike paths. For over 10 set get some small kids so you can appreciate natural settings. My grandkids (1 and 3) had a blast picking up stuff and looking at bugs, etc. We spend a good mornign there before nap time. One tip, go early. they open at 5am and it's cool and refreshful. Later in the day when we came back it was hot hot hot.The gift shop has some great unique gifts. Our Christmas larder is now full and the bank is empty. The foks here are very knowledgeable and very friendly. I just love a place that does not dumb it down and does not remove all the danger.Note to locals, the nursery school looks like a real winner. If my grandkids lived closer or we where down here we might enroll them for the experience.

Great little nature preserve/center with exhibits!! Bring family, friends and the kiddos. I attended a special event being held here. We walked around a bit inside and viewed all of the displays and got a little culture. It's lovely at night, all lit up and outside of the center you can take a nature walk...especially as the sun Is setting or when it's a bit lighter out. We even got to roast marshmallows on the fire pit! The hickory smoke smell of the wood made me so happy. Overall I had a wonderful night out at the science center!

I definitely recommend coming here! I took my 1 and a half year old here and she had a blast! We spent over 2 hours in the discovery room and outdoors. With the summer heat I was looking for something to do indoor and this was a great pick. Tickets for the discovery center is very affordable, range from $3-$5 depending on the child's age. They had multiple animals on display. They had books and 3 huge screens that have fun games for the kids. The front desk was super nice as well. I wasn't sure about what they had to offer and the front desk wasn't hesitant to help and explain everything.

Highly educated, informative, and friendly staff. This place is an oasis in an environment where nature is quickly disappearing.
