We came here to celebrate my friend's birthday this past weekend. This definitely want or first choice, but a lot of the birthday girl's friends were having a good time here so we thought it would be easiest to just join up with them. It was going to be my first experience at a Hispanic club, but I was keeping my mind open. Tejano music can't be that bad after a couple of drinks, right?Spotting this place is hard if you're looking for it from Northwest Highway, but you'll know when you're there because everyone and there mamas will be trying to pull in here. Yup, it's that busy and it's hard to find parking here especially if you arrive later than 11, which was our case. There wasn't any parking in New West's parking lot and we were directed to go to the building next door. I don't even know if we were allowed to park there, but we trusted the guy and paid him $10. When we got out he told us to make sure the car was locked. Wow. Apparently, people like to break into cars here. Deduct one star for safety concerns. We get in line to get in. Not a long line, but it moved slowly as everyone has to pay cover. Then this happens.Cop: "Hey, Ricardo." *head nod*Bouncer: *looks at my shoes* "Hey, man. We can't let you in with those shoes. They're tennis shoe." *points to sign with dress code*Me: Umm..No they're not. They're not dress shoes, but they're definitely not tennis shoes."Bouncer: "Sorry. Can't let you in." *points at my buddy's shoes* "We can't let you in, either."Oh, and this was AFTER we showed "Ricardo" our IDs and him looking us up and down. He didn't have an issue with our attire until the cop said something. Here's my question: Why does a COP have more power than a bouncer when it comes to enforcing dress code at a club? I consider tennis shoes as anything athletic. Mine were not. And apparently the cop has the final say.One of our friends that had been there came out to try to talk to the cop and managed to get the manager out as well. They talked for 5 minutes, but they still didn't let us in after explaining it was or friend's birthday. I will say that watching all that was pretty entertaining, though. This was our experience at this place. We got as close as 3 feet from the door and that was that. Never again! They need to put up their rules on their website and pictures of what their definition of "tennis shoes" are. And I want my parking money back!

They need an education on what shoes are considered sport or tennis shoes versus casual or dress shoes. Probably the worst bar/club I have ever visited and not worth purchasing cheap shoes from target to get in...

Best place in Dallas that we've found to see Tejano bands or dance to Tejano/Cumbia music. We were in town recently and decided to stay one extra night to see Jay Perez in Concert (he was performing at New West). The venue is actually pretty big, with a huge dance floor. We were able to get front row to see Jay Perez sing and he put on a good show. The acoustics were great and we were able to dance with no problems. We didn't witness any fights but there were a few Pachucos in the house. They had several bars around the dance floor, serving good stiff drinks at reasonable prices. This venue is bigger than any Tejano bar in Houston.

New west is by far a fancy elegance lounge/club however it is a very nice spot to go if you like a mix of both Spanish and English music. It is a mix of dive bar/year typical club but wonderful thing is the crowd is a good mix between younger and older people. I had a wonderful time and the music was great and everyone there was dancing and just having fun. If you are looking for a classy place to take your date this is probably not it but if you are looking for a fun place to take your girlfriend or wife I would definitely recommend coming to a place like this where you can just let loose dance watch people dance feel comfortable and have a good time.

Lets see here, I paid $10 for valet and $10 bucks for cover so I am $20 down just walking in. We got here at about 11 p.m. with the craving for some tejano music. They played maybe 20 minutes of tejano music in the 3 hours we were there. The rest of the time it was hip hop and cumbias. The dance floor was huge and I got to dance around as we walked in a circle so can't say it was a total loss but not enough fun for me to return.

This place is fun but their table reservation process is a joke. Their website says to fill out a request for a party / happy hour so you can get a table reserved but they do not ever respond. Then they leave you wondering if you have tables or not right up until the party. When you arrive to the club... guess what ....there are no tables and the few tables that are available are for "family" They now offer a vip section that you can reserve on the spot for like $650. What a rip off!!! So bottom line is if you want a table you have to get there super early like at 7 o'clock and just maybe you might get a table but dont hold your breath.

Explaining this place in simple words , Horrible Customer Service, Female Owner has a BAD ATTITUDE, Food taste horrible. Security and Police here are bunch of Clowns. Carpet stinks, Restrooms smell and have sewer back up water on the grounds. Dj can't play any other type of music according to them they get introuble by the female owner it's only the type of music she likes ( that's why the music is on repeat ) Never coming back I hope this place gets shut down. I wouldn't even give this place a star trash

We are here to see Gary Hobbs but we won't be back to New West. $50 to get in only to find the club has reserved all the tables and they charge $350 to get a reserved table. And all the tables weren't paid tables. New West just wants to force us to pay $350 to sit at a table. What a ripoff

They charged $3.50 for a water bottle! I told then it's too expensive. The Manager, Robert, came out and rudly said 3.50 twice! He was very rude and then kicked us out! Cowboys Red River charges only $1 for a water bottle. Electric Cowboy only charges $0.75 for a water bottle. Charging $3.50 for a $0.20 bottle is a rip off!
