This is my new favorite Tex Mex place in McKinney! The ambiance and decor is so trendy & cute. Customer service is quick and friendly & the food is delicious! I'm surprised it's not busier. We started off with the queso & the deviled eggs. The queso is delicious but they serve it in the most shallow bowl ever. Pretty pricey for the amount that we're actually getting. The deviled eggs were it has the right about of savory with a weird sweet after taste. Idk how to describe it.I ordered the abuelita quesadillas with birria. I'm from SATX so when I say it was cooked to perfection, just believe me. I loved that it wasn't too greasy. Only complaint is that the waiter said they don't sell mocktails. I'm pregnant so that's a bummer.

The restaurant opened up last summer per the waitress. It's a super cute/cool restaurant. We sat in outside patio. There is a private enclosed space off to the patio that they said you rent out during the weekends. We got the crispy quesadilla, birria ramen and the taco plate - I chose the Korean bulgogi, shrimp, and birria tacos. They were all good. The chips with salsa and creama were also really good. I got the watermelon margarita that was good but not very strong. We ordered the churros which we didn't like. Too dense.

I decided to try this Mexican restaurant because it was all the rage on a local Facebook group. Honestly, I found it confusing rather than impressive. The complimentary chips and salsa were usually a welcome treat. Unfortunately, they were retrieved from under the bar which was unexpected and quite unusual. The start offered little reassurance. We drank a margarita flight and a smoked bourbon cocktail, called a Tio's BBQ. The margaritas were unremarkable. What about Tio's BBQ cocktail? That story was unlike anything I expected. It was completely different. Confined within the glass to get infused with Smokey flavor, its taste possessed several characteristics of a single, unpleasant burnt Christmas fir. The smell of it doesn't remind you of "good ole BBQ on a Saturday night" Just an excessive smokiness and a general lack of pleasantness. We initially considered a return visit to sample the food, but after this single experience, we never again felt any inclination to revisit the restaurant.

We dined here one evening for a girls night celebrating January birthdays, there were 8 of us. Our reservation was for 8:30pm. It was cold that day and were initially seated in covered patio area. It was a bit too cold for some so they moved us inside after a bigger party had left. We ordered fajitas, quesadilla, taquitos, corn, etc. Everyone enjoyed their meals and said they'd go back. There was a DJ that night playing music as well which was cool. They have tvs around as well so we watched a bit of the football game on. Service was friendly and would definitely go back when in the area.

The decor and energy of Neon Cactus is bright, comfortable and cozy. The service is friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Four stars because while the chips and tacos were good, the vegetables tamale was bland. We also had to ask for water when the tables around us received it without asking. Overall a pleasant dining experience.

The food was amazing! Tacos were great, but our favorite was the tamales, by far. Service was excellent, and their cucumber margaritas were delicious. They are kid-friendly with kid menus, as well. The decor was very cute, and I enjoyed the outdoor seating (even in February!). Would definitely recommend this place.

Start of our service was slooow. The server was new. The Bria quesadilla was greasy so not good. This menu is NOT supposed to be TexMex so don't expect that. Nice atmosphere and drinks but both my husband and I did not like the food. Deviled eggs were good.

Loved our experience. Our waitress was Monica. She was knowledgeable of the foods and makes good conversations. Will come back again. You'll feel valued here when you come. I haven't had that in other places.
