Mesquite BBQ was fantastic! The cooks /servers were very helpful in selecting meats and sides. The brisket was amazing - tender and delicious, and the sides including baked potato casserole and beans were great. Will definitely return to this establishment!

Great people but not so great BBQ. The place could use a revamp in decor. Blah blah blah

Mesquite BBQ has been open for over 50 years, and they're still making excellent BBQ. I eat here pretty frequently, and I'm never disappointed. The service is always quick and friendly. The dining area is pretty small, and it fills up quickly at lunch, so many people get take-out. The BBQ is really good! I also like to get the baked potato topped with meat. Their homemade desserts are delicious if you manage to save room.

Stopped by Mesquite BBQ since it seemed like a crime to be in Mesquite and not try some smoked meats in the area- this spot was everything I was hoping for and more. We got a 2 meat platter with pork ribs and brisket, which came with 2 sides and Texas toast (we chose fried okra and mac & cheese). The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and so flavorful they didn't need extra sauce! The brisket? Melted in our mouths, with incredibly delicious bark. We liked the fried okra, the mac was just alright, but we weren't there for the sides anyway. You order after lining up and pay at the register, then sit down anywhere. The ladies at the counter were friendly and helpful when we asked for their recommendations- all the desserts are made in-house and they recommended the banana pudding, which was so yummy! The space itself is comfortable and welcoming, and for out-of-towners like myself, a great slice of life in Texas with all the articles and jerseys celebrating the Mesquite Skeeters, the local high school football team- it felt very Friday Night Lights. The walls are full of "Best Of" and "Reader's Choice" awards, and it's easy to see why from how wonderful the food is and the atmosphere overall. Loved my first experience there and wouldn't hesitate to come back or to recommend it to others in the area!

Pretty good place for Barbecue, Stopped here for some ribs and sausages, and we were happy campers. Briskets are out of this world with so much to eat. The price is worth what you eat and get. Nice people working here , and good food. You wont be disappointed,

This place was a great experience! When we went in, the smells were amazing! I ordered the 2 meat plate, and the brisket and ribs were more than I could eat. I had to get a to go tray to take the rest home. The Mac and cheese, and the potato salad were also delicious! The building has lots of history on the walls, it was a pleasure eating there. I live in Royse City, but plan on going there again next time we're in Mesquite. It's been a long time since I've had BBQ this good!

When you go to a bbq restaurant, you expect the bbq itself to be reasonably expensive. Small French fry, 4.99 small fountain drink 3.99.The soda had no, ZERO fizz. The brisket has always been amazing. The sausage is good, not great. If you want a little 6oz banana pudding (which tastes really good), it's another 6.75. Maybe I'm behind the times but that seems egregious. Their staff has always been pleasant except if you ask for anything extra. Extra bbq sauce? Nope. They used to leave it at the table. Now they give you 1-2 little plastic containers filled 70% and if you want more, prepare to get your wallet out again. Getting a baked potato? Want more sour cream and butter? They charge you. I haven't been here in over a year until today and didn't order a baked potato for that reason so it's possible that's changed. The music it too loud in the dining room and the ceiling is cluttered with all kinds of trinkets and a string of lights. The bathroom was clean and towel dispenser full. The toilet didn't flush very well at all for whatever reason.Notice my receipt from August 2024. You'll also notice on top of their already high prices, they've chosen to punish their customers with a 4% credit card transaction fee which they conveniently call something else. This is the "us-vs-the-customer" mentality that they've had ever since a few years after the original owner (father) left the business to the son and wife.
