It was the day before Thanksgiving, and we were looking for a breakfast spot before we headed into Dallas to finish our sightseeing. This restaurant is in an industrial section of town, which gives a kind of a sketchy vibe, but don't let that put you off. We were seated quickly, and while we were looking at the menu, we watched as tables towering with pies and other Thanksgiving items were being picked up. With that huge amount of pre-orders, you have to know that the food here is good. My boyfriend got biscuits and gravy, and I got the pecan waffle. My boyfriend loved the sausage gravy, and he actually said that this was the best gravy he's ever eaten. My pecan waffle was fabulous - nice thick, Belgian waffle filled with pecans. As we kept seeing pies getting picked up, we knew it was too late to order one for our own Thanksgiving, but they had pies by the slice so we were able to take two pecan pie slices with us to go. We ate those the next day, and thought we had died and gone to heaven! I wish we lived closer so that we could return to this delicious spot, I would highly recommend you give it a try!

Food was bland, there was no flavor to any of the food. Tasted like hospital food. The service was on point, the waitress was nice and attentive just did not enjoy the food. Ordered: chicken fried chicken with Mac n cheese, turnip greens, red beans. Catfish with green beans and mashed potatoes and gravy.

I placed an online order, Food was not ready at the time it was said to be ready. When I got there she couldn't find my order then said oh it's a online order- she printed the ticket and then sent it to the kitchen I had to wait 25 mins for them to cook it- Never apologized, didn't ask me if I wanted a drink, wanted to sit down. So I will rate them a 2 for now, gotta understand what customer service is. The food is good, service is lacking

A local family diner with an old school vibe. You come in and sit anywhere. It's great to bring your grandparents who like to read the newspaper hehehe lol the food is so good. It gives homemade breakfast. Everything I had was a 10/10. Ashley was our server and she was great. I would come back when I need a home cooked meal

Best southern breakfast I had while visiting Dallas! Everything was hot, fresh and came out so fast! This place runs like a well oiled machine! The restaurant had a constant hustle and bustle but not one person. Missed a beat! I loved the old school feel and originality that has been preserved through the years, it really added alot of charm and nostalgia to the place. I highly recommend stopping in for breakfast if you're looking for a good home style meal!

I had lunch here yesterday at this Dallas area institution with 5 locations and this one being the original. It's a meat and three type of restaurant serving home style cooked meals. There is dedicated parking all around the building and inside it's a table service restaurant.The menu offers several breakfast and lunch entrees along with daily specials. From the Thursday specials I chose the braised beef tips over rice with sides of mashed potatoes and brown gravy, fried okra and large Lima beans and rolls for $11.95.The food arrived less than 10 minutes later. I enjoyed every bite (almost). The beef and rice, mashed potatoes and gravy with two big fluffy rolls and the fried okra were delicious. Loved it. My only complaint was the Lima beans were over salted. This was the only reason I didn't give a 5. Finally, the waitress was warm and friendly.I would readily come back here for another meal. Great tasting food at reasonable prices. Mama did a good job in teaching her daughters how to cook!

We were looking for a good breakfast place near where we were staying and the choices were Dennys and then we found this place that was just around the corner by car if you are staying at the Hilton Anatole. I know it's a little further on foot because you have to walk out of the hotel parking lot and over one of the bridges to get to it. But let me tell you it is well worth it. I love this place. It has that southern charm outside and inside. I was able to eat here twice during my last visit and both times I ordered the big Texas Breakfast i believe it is the #1. I ordered it with toast the first time and with biscuits and gravy the second time. What's nice is they serve it on the side instead of drowning everything. Now I am picky about my biscuits and gravy and this is one of the best I have had. Even if you just get the biscuits alone they are worth it. I also got the Chicken fried Steak both times. I was delicious even without the gravy. I also ordered the hash browns but wish I had ordered the grits. The way i know this place is good food is because I saw police, construction workers, city workers all eating from this place. They always know where the best spots are. I also wish I had gotten to try the pies. They looked and sounded delicious. Oh well next time I am in Dallas I will have to stop in. What is nice is there is no expensive parking fee if you are driving unlike a lot of the places in the Arts District. So keep that in mind. My server was great her name is Steffanie. And the service was very quick both times.

Just Wow! Scratch made biscuits. I was thoroughly impressed. Kept it basic as we were late to breakfast but two eggs, sausage and biscuits filled me up. Thought about rolls to go but forgot and I think that was a huge mistake. Lunch was coming out as we left and those looked great. Great service and my coffee cup was never empty. Small restaurant that is well maintained and the sayings on the walls are classic. We highly suggest you stop in for a meal!
