La Nueva De Zacatecas

Yelp needs to update the hours as this family owned Mexican food restaurant, is open for breakfast every morning. I just left and grabbed two of the best breakfast tacos in town. Maybe not great ambience but delicious food.

I have a soft spot for their burritos. They're pretty wet, but very authentic... it helps to know some Spanish. Service is always quick and everything is clean.Seems like they have tortillas you can get here -- if we're ever doing a taco night I wanna support this place and get some of their fresh tortillas to take home!

We get both their corn and flour tortillas and they have NEVER disappointment. We also will buy their tortilla chips when we run out. So good! Their salsas are also very yummy and hot. We have been coming here for their tortillas and chips for a few months now and we will never go back to anything else. The service is always quick and easy and everyone is nice. The vibe of the place is like a ma and pa shop, very comfy.We need to come back and sit down for lunch one of these days.

I am always looking for a place to get street tacos and these are perfect! The steak fajita taco plate is served with rice and beans. The price is very reasonable and delicious. I ordered corn tortillas for my tacos - each tacos served on top of two fluffy tortillas, 1 green sauce, and 1 red hot sauce on the side (very hot but good!!). They had a lot of walk in customers buying just their tortillas so next time I'll be sure to buy some to take home. They have lots of snacks, drinks, and pastries as well. Super casual restaurant and clean.

Came here because I had a taste for churros but so glad I chose to try a few other items from the menu! This is a cafeteria style Mexican spot with homemade tortillas, plenty of protein options and a lot of tasty looking bakery items. I got a two taco plate: lamb barbacoa and beef tongue, and skipped the sides. I didn't know I was a beef tongue fan until I tasted these taco, so tender and flavorful. The lamb was also excellent, I was just shocked by how good the tongue was! Tortillas are made-in house and we're tasty. Ironically, my least favorite part of the meal is why I came: the churros. Not bad, just okay. I'll definitely be back to try more of the entrees here, the tacos are fantastic!

The most authentic Mexican food I have had since I moved to Dallas. Everything was freshly made. The birria tacos are my favorite item here. I also had the enchiladas that were very good. They also have a bakery and sell fruit bars.

Okay so the obvious first. You only go to this place for the food. The place is really basic, full of Mexican construction workers for lunch, the TV and radio blasting Spanish channels, and food is served on styrofoam plates. Now...... The food. Wow!!!! Best carne asada street tacos I have ever had.... And I lived in southern California for decades. The tacos were streaming hot, and just melted in my mouth. The tortillas were clearly made in house....divine!!!!! Buy a pack to take with you as they are yummy and cheap. Employees were friendly and clearly take pride in their establishment. I would not take my sexy pumpkin there for a romantic dinner but if you are looking for authentic banging Mexican food this is the real deal.

**Update**12/1/2022Came back. Bought the house made corn tortillas and promptly ate 3 of them waiting in line. (no judging) I did not know corn tortillas could taste like that! So soft and light - not the dry mealy normal things you get. And it was only $3 for like 25 tortillas.I had the carnitas plate with rice, beans and pico de gallo. Awesome! Huge portions and really well done! I bumped up the stars to a 4.****************************************************Always looking for true Mexican food (ie NOT texmex). I did not see queso or chili on the menu, so it was worth a shot. Not the easiest place to find - address is Preston Rd, but it's facing Beltline way behind the building on Preston with the address. It was packed for lunch! (Good sign). I ordered the taco plate with pastor, rice and beans. Pastor was tasty but I want to try out some other proteins. I had the flour tortillas and they were so fresh and amazing...see below. The star is the tortillas. This is also a bonafide tortilleria + restaurant. I saw "tortilleria" on the name of the place, but didn't think much. They had a table with bagged tortillas next to the order line. They also have a giant cooler next to the table that is being used for fresh warm bagged. tortillas. So many people dipped into that cooler that it needed to be refilled while I was there...maybe 45 minutes total. No one bought a single bag of tortillas, 2 was minimum for each person I saw. I will happily update this with more stars after I come back again. Want to try chile relleno and bistec...and I'm definitely buying tortillas.

Very authentic food, ordered takeout. The portions are very decent, very tasty, and nicely packed.

A este lugar yo vengo más que como restaurant, como tortillería. Le doy un 100 a las tortillas de maíz, son las mejores en varios años de buscar, vienen por kilo o 2 lbs. Excelente servicio y amabilidad.
