My coworker and I were so hungry and excited to find this place on Google search. There's nothing upscale about this place. I guess because they're located on the hood they call themselves upscale. Bathroom had napkin rolls; soap dispenser from Walmart and they give you utensils in a package like to go orders. 1. The lunch special on their website states that it ended at 2:30 but when we arrived he said it had already ended at 2:00 pm. 2. My coworker got the veggie plate: they gave it to her in plastic containers. That dressing is straight trash, and from a box (it looked pretty) They added sugar to it I . The cabbage was the only decent veggie from her plate. 3. I got the fried wings they were decent nothing to brag about. Needless to say we will not be eating there again. We were really wanting to support this establishment since it is black ownef

My fiancée and I visited in a busy Sunday afternoon. I ordered the fried ribs, mac n cheese, and dressing. The side dishes were not good at all. The mac was overly seasoned and the dressing tasted like it came from a box. The fried ribs were the star! They were seasoned perfectly and a nice size. I've been back to order another entree and they were still great. My fiancée had the catfish and it was seasoned well but only came with one. All in all we had a decent experience.

I was on a mad hunt to find soul food this past Sunday that included some of my favorites like Oxtails, mac n' cheese, potato salad, candy yams. I called in first and they confirmed that they didn't have any Oxtails or potato salad however we decided to venture over anyway. The line can be quite long, and the establishment is quite small. We ordered to go expecting about a 20-30 min. wait since the food is made to order. We ordered the rotisserie chicken, candy yams and mac n' cheese (not to share) lol he ordered somewhere else. Once we got the food home it was still fairly warm, everything was flavorful the mac n' cheese could have used a bit more cheese and creamier but this is due to taste, and I like my yams a bit sweeter, also due to taste. The chicken was very moist and juicy! Over all the food here is pretty good one serving of all mentioned was about $22.00.

Finally made it over to Kendall Karsen's on a Saturday afternoon. We picked up dinner to-go. First and foremost, the service was EXCELLENT! I forgot to get the lady's name who was took our order. She was hilarious and extremely friendly. I'd go back just to joke around with her. To the food. My husband and I ordered 2 plates of the same items. Rotisserie chicken, dressing w/gravy, mac-n-cheese, and candied yams. I was super hangry (yes, hangry), so I also added on collard greens. The chicken was flavorful, tender, and yummy. It tasted like it came off the grill. The candied yams were cooked perfectly. Had just the right amount of sweetness where it tasted like a side and didn't taste like dessert. The mac-n-cheese was good. The dressing was just okay to me. I know we all have different preferences. I've never liked cornbread dressing that has any amount of sugar/sweetness added. There's has the sweetness, and that just isn't my favorite. My husband wasn't bothered by it. With that said, I still ate it all. Lol. The greens had an interesting flavor. I wasn't sure which way to go with those. I actually didn't eat much of them. I plan to try them again to see if it was something off about them that day. With all that, I will DEFINITELY be back! I can't wait to try their other options. Particularly the catfish. Overall, the food and service was worth it and I can't wait to try them again.

Food was good, service was great. Will definitely be returning. The service was superior from the moment they answered the phone to the moment I paid for my food. I've been looking for a good soul food spot that wouldn't have me feeling miserable after eating, this is the spot!

Came to this neighborhood from out of town to try some soul food and support the Black owned community in the South Dallas area. The restaurant is located in a strip mall area - so parking is right. Mmmkay! I entered to order at the front area and decided on the grilled Cajun catfish with a side of yams, Mac and cheese that comes with cornbread. I added on a side of cabbage to go with the cornbread. The inside has seating but it super small - so if people arrive to pick up, it can become crowded expeditiously. I waited maybe 15-18 ish minutes for my food to be ready and my name was called at the window. The lady who served me didn't know I wanted to dine in because the cashier didn't mention that which was totally fine but still an inconvenience. Everything kept coming out separately and I had like three bags of separate items. No joke. The catfish - wasn't grilled. Definitely was fried. Super tasty with tons of seasoning and flavor and crispy but very greasy. The cornbread was dry and a little tough. The mac and cheese was on point. The yams - too stringy. They were whole pieces and too large in size. They should've whipped them or cut smaller. The cabbage was bland. No season or nothing. It's as if they boiled it like ramen noodles and then put it in the container. Overall, I paid $20 for a meal I felt Should've been $15 at most. I didn't get the sense this was upscale - more like on the scale of what type of service am I going to get that day.

My co-workers and I were excited to try this new restaurant and support a black-owned business. I ordered the veggie plate with dressing, cabbage, creamed spinach, and gumbo okra. Unfortunately, the only side I could stomach was the cabbage. I asked the manager if I could exchange the sides for something else, but he said he would be right back and never returned. This was poor customer service and a waste of $12!!! I won't be returning or recommending this place.

The food is top tier!!!!! I could not decide on what I wanted so I ordered two plates. First plate: fried ribs, Mac n cheese and candied yams. Nothing was left! The ribs were tender, the Mac n cheese was creamy and cheesy and the yams were sweet and buttery. Second plate: chicken and dressing, beans, and greens. That was a great dinner plate and I went to bed full. This is the only upscale restaurant in Dallas with down home Soulfood cooking. Everything on the menu is eye catching. It is worth the wait. The ambiance is a nice vibe. This is my new spot! I will definitely be back.

Fantastic meal! Well, worth the drive from Coppell. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her veggie plate which included mac & cheese, green beans, cabbage, and candied yams! I had the rotisserie chicken with cornbread, wonderful gravy, cornbread with stuffing, and veggies! We will definitely be back for more! Friendly service that makes you feel welcome and at home!
