Jomsom Thakali Kitchen

We recently visited Jomsom Thakali Kitchen and tried the steamed yak momo, chicken shyabhale, and the Thakali thali (local chicken and mutton). We enjoyed everything! It was our first time trying yak momo, and it wasn't bad--definitely an interesting experience. The sauce served with the shyabhale was a highlight, absolutely delicious.The Thakali thali was exceptional--probably one of the best I've had in the US. The daal was a standout, perfectly cooked and flavorful. While the side dishes could have been a bit better, the overall experience was still fantastic. The variety of achar served--tomato, bitter gourd (karela), and radish (mula)--was amazing and added a great touch to the meal.We'll definitely be coming back for the Thakali set. Highly recommended for anyone looking to try authentic and flavorful Nepali cuisine!

The young ladies who work here are so sweet! They were immediately aware it was my first time trying this cuisine. They clearly know their way around the menu! They made small talk and helped with the menu to help me get what I needed. The restaurant is situated next to a service station and other restaurants, so parking at peak times might be a little touch and go. While I waited for my food the ladies chatted a bit with me about the food and people of Nepal. Very interesting conversation! The place has maybe a dozen tables and a well stocked bar with about 8 seats. While I was there not a single person entered who wasn't warmly greeted with a smile. Pretty quiet inside with some ethnic music playing. The ladies warned me that the food would take a little time to prepare. It came out right on time! There seems to be a pretty brisk lunch rush here so I recommend getting here at 1130 when they open.I ordered my food to go, so not a lot of great pictures, but the food was fantastic! I look forward to trying new dishes and getting great recommendations from the menu from the wait staff!

The food was flavorful and cooked to perfection. I had never had Thakali food before. The spices are close to Indian. The staff were very kind, helpful and knowledgeable about the cuisine. There are many condiments that come with the mains. They are all very tasty. I will be back.
