Get out! We had this as a catered lunch at my work (not far from their location) and it was fantastic! Just the cabbage and the rice/beans were delicious. I'm gonna use way too many exclamation points in this review. We had dumplin's (fried dough balls), plantains, curried chicken, this succulent braised ox tail (incredible!) and both spicy and curry shrimp. You had to work at twisting off the shrimp head and peeling it, but the labor was worth it! Twist the dumpling in half and smash it into the oxtail broth and then die from happiness as you devour it!

The food was great!! I was pleasantly surprised yet felt right at home when the food arrived! I'll admit I felt the jerk chicken had me longing for something more (more spices/flavor not heat), the curry chicken and oxtails were AMAZING. Had a great time and will recommend to friends and family!! Can't wait to stop by on our next visit in the area!! The portion size was spot on! I couldn't eat all of this at one time. I loved that each plate came with rice & beans, cabbage, and plantains and not my choice of either or! . I will be returning!!

My husband and I were looking for a place to get oxtails since our fav Jamaican place was closed today. Google places and found this one. It's located on a busy corner close to downtown. The parking lot is small with lots of rocks so be careful when walking to the door. There's a very small outside seating area in front that leads to a very small inside. There's no room for inside seating but there are authentic Jamaican items to buy from flags to spices to the owners very on Jamaican lemonade which is different but tasty. We ordered oxtails, jerk chicken and curry chicken. They were sold out of some items so we had to wait about 30 minutes for them to cook more. I loved the plantains they put on top of meal, yummy! The rice had spices and seasoning and shredded cabbage was okay. The jerk chicken had some dry pieces, no sauce on the chicken and some pieces I didn't know what part of the chicken it was. The curry chicken was really good with the potatoes and carrots in it, the pieces were juicy and delicious. The oxtails weren't worth the $30 price, the large size isn't very large and it could've used more seasoning. The owner was very friendly and offered us the Jamaican lemonade complimentary for the wait. I would go back just because he was so nice. I'd recommend to give them a try, as he mentioned they've received some accolades in the past for their food. It was close to closing when we went so maybe I'll go back earlier in the day to see if it's better, definitely want to try the chicken soup.

Solid dependable Jamaican food! Ox tails: super tender, good flavor nice gravy but it was missing something. Had to add a dash of hot sauce. Jerk chicken: not spicy at all, which depending on your preference could be good or bad. I was expecting some spiciness and more jerk sauce. Stewed chicken: 2nd to none! Get this!Beef patty: very good, loved the crust!Cabbage & carrots: great side with everything; not heavily seasoned. Peas & rice: also good, not dry. I'll be back to try more dishes.

I put in an order at around 230 for delivery at 630. I requested jerk chicken as my chicken option. Did not receive order until about 745 and there was a note saying there was no jerk chicken. Why in 4 hours no one sent a message saying no jerk chicken I do not know. But the stew chicken was very good and they sent a meat pie as a sorry with a handwritten note (which was nice). The cabbage was very good. The goat curry was a bit tough and could have been cooked longer. The oxtail was also a bit tough and I think it may have been made with a barbecue sauce, which is odd and unexpected for Caribbean style oxtail. I was not a fan and dont think I'd order the oxtail again. Overall I'd maybe try again. Likely a chicken dish. Maybe one of their fish/ seafood dishes. I appreciated the note but would have preferred communication upfront (though the stew chicken was tasty).

I'm new to Dallas and decided to try Jamaica Cabana Restaurant. I've pretty much tried most of the food in my area and was looking for a different flavor. I read the Google reviews but still decided to order the curry goat, rice and peas and chicken patty. The reviews did not lie. If you are used to really good authentic Jamaican food this simply will not do. I've never needed to added salt to a Jamaican dish before. This reminded me of being in Barbados. Not all Caribbean food is cooked equally.I honestly feel like I wasted $30 . It looks good but the goat was very chewy ( probably old) , gravy was watery, and rice & peas was cotton mouth dry. I didn't finish it .Sorry to leave this type of review however was my experience and honest thoughts.

Great Jamaican food! We came very late in the day and there were only a few dishes left. We ordered the jerk chicken and chicken curry. Unfortunately, there were no more rice and bean unless you order the oxtail. Don't know why it wasn't available with the dishes we ordered but we were OK with that. We had to settled for the white rice. The entrees also came with cabbage and a few slices of plantain bananas. The food is packaged in to go boxes. My curry chicken has a little heat but not so much that it is unbearable. I can handle a little spiciness and this was the right amount for me. I tasted the jerk chicken and it has the right amount of heat too. Love the cabbage and plantains too. The place is very small. If you want to eat inside, there is a stool for 1 with a narrow ledge that double as a table. The remaining walls are adorn with items/food from Jamaica for sale. In one corner, is a beverage refrigerator. Standing room only so plan to eat outside or take it to go. There are plenty of seatings outside in a fenced in patio. I can't remember if there are any covered area or not to protect you from the elements. Owner is very nice and friendly. A customer had called wanting to buy the last of the oxtails. Even though it was after closing time, he was wiling to wait for them to come. Great food and great service!

The customer service was awful and the price was ridiculous for the amount of food they served me. Large oxtails were $30. It came with 3oxtails rice, peas and cabbage. I added 2 beef patties it was a total of $38. The oxtails tasted southern instead of Jamaican. The sides were good. Two our later we all were in the restaurant stomach turning flips. The ambiance was basic more things for sale instead of decorative. This was a epic fail for me

Ordered oxtails and they were so tender and delicious but I had also ordered a side of steamed cabbage and carrots I only received two small pieces of carrots very disappointed I did not get what I paid for with that.
