Hot Crab

This is a hidden gem! It has never popped up on my searches before so I didn't know about this restaurant until last night. The food was absolutely delicious! The sauce in our seafood boil bags was drinkable. Literally. Yum!Service was very good which made the experience all the better. For a Friday night, it was what servers would call slow. I was nervous when I was one of the only cars in the parking lot at 6pm. The only thing that made me go "huh?" was the gloves they provide you. Take a look at my photos... those gloves are useless unless you are Mr. Santa Claus himself. No fingers on the gloves so please tell me how those are functional when eating and picking at seafood. Hopefully someone ordered those by mistake. Lol.

I was last in the area about a year ago. Although I was initially interested in BBQ, I noticed the restaurant across the road as I was navigating the parking lot. When I walked in, I got the impression it was an order-at-the-counter type of place. When I mentioned I was dining in, no one pointed me to a table before ordering.Deciding between the alligator tails and soft shell crabs, I chose the latter due to being the restaurant's namesake. It had been decades since I had soft shell crabs and I never had them fried. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy them. While I enjoyed the crab legs, the bodies were not tasty. Fortunately, there were two containers of sauce to drown them in. Initially, I thought the soft shell crabs were not my thing.For the side, I chose Cajun fries which were waffle fries with Cajun spices. In addition to the ketchup bottle, I wished they also provided a bottle ofCajun spices. I discovered the fries were not properly cooked. Many were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, as expected of waffle fries. There were also a significant number which ended up being potato brittle; they were crunchy and tough. If the waffle fries were not cooked properly, the crabs may not have been as well.Neither of the employees working at the counter came by my table except to serve my food. I had to go back to the counter to ask for the check and pay.

I've been to this restaurant several times and have never had a bad experience. The service is good and the prices are very reasonable for seafood. It's a hidden gem that also still has a lot of potential. I highly recommend visiting here if you want a quiet spot to enjoy with friends.

This is my go to seafood spot in DFW. What stood out to me when I first came was the fact that they offer 1/2 lb options for most if not all of their seafood. Who else do you know that sells snow crab by the 1/2 lb ? Oh okay. Now when you walk in the vibe gives Krusty Krabs, and it can smell like the catch of the day so just beware of that. The staff is small so if you don't immediately see someone when you walk in, just hang by the register and they'll find you. The service is good, but expect it to be slower if the place gets full. If you love seafood boils like me, I highly recommend ordering a pre-determined combo to get the most for your money. Today I ordered the Combo Special B Mild w/Garlic Pepper seasoning which comes with 1/2 lb crawfish, 1/2 lb snow crab, 1/2 lb of shrimp no head, corn, potatoes and an egg. I added sausage to complete the whole thing. My total came out to $36. The boiling crab could never. The only critique I have is that I don't believe I actually received a 1/2 lb of snow crab nor 1/2 lb of crawfish. Both servings were really tiny & I'd know because usually when I order from them I get two FULL clusters of crab legs and at least 12 crawfish. So I'm disappointed in that but the flavor and everything else was as good as it always is. If you happen to find yourself on this side of town, stop in.

HOT CRAB!! Walking in you are in a boat, kind of. The food is served hot and steaming. They get how to season and kick up the spice. The service is awesome as well! They know when to check in and very attentive, in a good way. They are so nice and very helpful. The ambiance is nice and chill TVs that play games and also have normal television shows as well. For sure coming back again! Come bring the family plenty of space!!

Reviews are all over the place. Some people speak fondly while others curse this establishment with foamed mouths. Id say this is another average crab boil joint within DFW. Not on the saem level as Boiling Crab, nor as good as even the local Krab Kings 7 (which is temporarily closed at the moment). It was 5pm on a Sunday and no one was there. By the time we left, there were probably 5 other parties that came through the door. The staff are quite nice and did their best to be attentive while not overbearing. I ended up getting some fried shirmp and 2 lbs of King Crab. The popcorn shrimp are textbook definition of shrimp fried in a crispy batter. Nothing to write home about, but it does satisfy. The king crab itself was steamed just right. Every bite was juicy, especially the shoulder joints. There were some bites that didnt have much flavor, but thats what the butter sauce its swimming in is for. Of course butter only enhances the meal, along with the failrly present seasoning. The corn and potatoes are meant to be throw away filler, but both these items felt subpar. I wouldnt be surprised if the majority of the food dumped straight from the food truck into a boiling pot of water, and then dumped into the steamer bags they serve it on. Not much craft or attention to sauce/seasoning, which is ultimately where the flavor will be coming from. If youre around the area, craving some steamed seafood, or dont want to wait forever at the Boiling Crab, then this place is not a bad option. Am I being picky with 3 stars? I didnt have a bad time, but Im not necessarily excited to go back to this particular location. Theres already 6 other crab places within 5 miles of Richardson, with this place not doing much to stand out other than the bare minimum. Im happy this previously chinese buffet operated joint turned into something thats actually a decent option in the area though.

Excellent service its affordable and never have wait that long u can pick up or dine in I really recommend this spot if ur looking for great prices with great food

Food was delicious and service was very fast. The server Kimberly was very knowledgeable and helpful.

At first when we arrived at the restaurant the parking lot was empty. We were skeptical about that and maybe just thought that it wasn't the time for dinner yet.(we were there at 5pm)Walking in everything looked fine but there ones only one other family there in the restaurant. The waitress was very kind and we were sat immediately. Looking at the menu we were surprised at the cost of the boils and gumbo! Everything sounded really good! We ordered the D Boil, which contains sausage, snow crab, and shrimp. Let me tell you it was the most jugó esta me well sauced boil I have ever had! My parents order the gumbo and I had a bite, it was delicious! Would absolutely recommend and would go again.

Second time coming here. First time was great, we ordered the xtra hot and was a tad too spicy so we decided to go again and try the mild. The mild sauce was ok, it was just liquid no thickness in sauce which was disappointing. I would definitely go again and try the hot.
