I came to Harumama to try the viral cute animal buns, and they did not disappoint! They were super cute and tasty--definitely worth the hype. That said, they are a bit pricey at nearly $9 for two small buns.I also tried the bulgogi udon with a side of chicken katsu, and everything was solid. The udon broth wasn't too salty, which I really appreciated. Service was okay--we had a short wait for a table at the start, but nothing too bad.Overall, a fun spot with adorable treats and good food, though a little on the pricier side!

I decided to check this place out after a friend told me about it. Took my girls, the atmosphere was nice, clean and it wasn't busy for a Saturday afternoon. We tried a couple of stuff since it was our first time. My favorite was the pork bao bao buns ( not to be confused with the character buns). My ramen I thin it was the spicy chicken one with bamboo shoots and egg and hi chicken. It was good I l loved it. My daughter got the bulgogi udon noddles , loved those too. Yakisoba was ok it had almost an " Indian food taste" idk why but I ABSOLUTELY HATE Indian food. My kid liked them. The character buns were ok I wasn't wowed by the flavors. We got the chicken and pork. I'd say cuteness was 10/10 flavor ehhh 6/10 nothing amazing. We algo had the sweet buns one with Nutella and one with ube. I don't like either mg girls liked the Nutella. The bao bao pork bun was delicious I loved them. We algo got the crispy tuna appetizer it was ok the rice was to hard since it's fried but honestly I prefer it un fried. We got grape tea and matcha ice teas too sweet for me. Staff were nice , enjoyed our visit.

I found this place on Yelp and thought I'd bring my husband over to try out the buns. He loves steamed buns, so I took him to Harumama to enjoy these unique buns. The day we went there were two servers waiting tables; the place was moderately busy, but got busier when we were getting ready to leave. Service was ok, but would have been better with three servers. The interior was pretty clean, however the music was a bit too loud for us. The buns came out quicker than expected. Our favorite savory bun was the Piggy Pork bun, it was soft and fluffy on the outside and the pork was tender and flavorful on the inside. Our favorite sweet bun was the snowman bun with the white chocolate pistachio filling. The Nutella and Ube Buns were pretty good too. The other buns were good, but none were great, although all were very cute! Overall we enjoyed our visit and will return in the future to try out some of their other seasonal buns.

Got this to go and it was fine. Not sure that I'll order again but that's just personal preference. Good: easy to order & great service/pick up experience. Bad: didn't love what I ordered but it was, at least, edible. My order: - Crab Wontons: online menu doesn't mention the veggies/slaw that are inside along with the tiny bit of crab and cream cheese. Good flavor and crunch otherwise. - Pork Belly Bao: good flavor but the pork belly is all fat. Huge turn off. - Chicken Buns: cute. Didn't care for the flavor but I think that's a "me" problem.

This review is only for the BUNS.I was excited to try out a new place in Texas (as someone who was visiting from California) and immediately went here the next day when I saw the cute buns/baos and the restaurant indoor aesthetics. When we got there around 1pm on Saturday, we had to wait about 10-15min even though there were only a few parties in the restaurant. Clearly, this place is understaffed. But we had no problem waiting!Service is great! People were attentive and super nice. We ordered all the savory buns, and they honestly look so cute! But the flavor was sooooo mid.If you're looking for authentic Asian buns/baos, this is NOT it. All the fillings for the baos were very western and didn't have any Asian flavors (like sesame oil, ginger, etc.). Just felt like it was basic salt and pepper seasoning. The soy sauce yuzu or whatever that comes with the baos didnt make sense to me - the bao filling and the sauce just wasn't cohesive. Overall, my friend and I just left feeling super disappointed.Maybe I'll come back one day and try the ramen and it might blow my mind... in either a good or bad way haha

Glad Harumama came to DFW! I tried this place in San Diego many years ago so this was much anticipated. I heard there might be a line so we got there right at 11am, and thankfully we did since people just kept pouring in. We ordered the drunken noodles, flying pig ramen, chicken katsu, and savory character buns (pig, chicken, cow)Drunken noodles-like a chicken pad thai, strong flavors, great portionFlying pig ramen-creamy and flavorful tonkotsu without being too heavy or salty. Great umami Chicken katsu -super crispy and the chicken was tender and juicy. Portion was large and shareable. Comes with white rice and cabbage salad. Savory character buns-pig: pork was ok-chicken: it was decent, light on flavor-cow: most flavorful and savory sweetHighly recommend coming here for date night, family time, big groups or small. Can't wait to go back!

Harumama has quickly become a family favorite. My daughters absolutely love the character dumplings. My wife, although she thinks they're adorable, does not find them satiating. She has ventured to other plates but goes crazy over their ramen bowls. She says Harumama has the best ramen she's ever had. The character dumplings are the true highlight. It's appealing to children's eyes who might at first blush think, "Dumplings? Ewww!" Instead, they're lured in by the cuteness. It's absolutely worth trying them all. I think no matter which protein dumplings we pick, we will always enjoy the Unicorn (ube and cinnamon) and Bunny (Nutella). The kiddos also love this glass- bottled, carbonated water with select flavors, that has a really interesting way of opening. I can't remember the name and not seeing on the menu pics. Oh well, ask your server. They'll know. We still have a lot more plates to try but, so far, Harumama has not failed to impress. Love this place!!

This place is known for their viral, animal shaped buns. You can choose from cows, pig, chicken, and more. You pay for the price of cuteness. It's about $9 or $10 for two small buns. The buns were good, but not out of this world. I tried the cow and the hangry chicken and would recommend the hangry chicken. It's cooked on a skillet so it's crispy on the bottom. I also tried the tuna on crispy rice and the fried wontons. Both appetizers good. It's a good place for big groups. That makes sharing buns easier as well! Service was great as well. Our waitress was nice. Overall, food is not bad, but it's a hefty price tag.

There were 10 of us for my daughter's birthday, and we were able to get a table quickly. Service was good as well as the foods. We really wanted to try the beef bao, but they were out. Their katsu chicken with curry was so yummy! I'm still craving for their crunchy shrimp. My boyfriend and I went to their La Jolla location and enjoyed everything. It was the same here.

The location is nestled in the corner of a strip mall and can easily be missed because it's not very visible from the street. It's a small and cozy restaurant with an appealing vibe. Staff was friendly. Buns are very picture worthy and fun. The food itself is a bit more ambiguous. I walked away not completely sure whether or not I'd return. Some items were good, not great while others just felt like it missed the mark.Buns - The buns themselves were delicious, warm, and just the right textures. The savory fillings, namely the pig was definitely a miss. The pork filling was in essence very mushy and lacked a lot of flavor. Based on recommendations, we strayed away from the chicken. We tried asking for the cow, but they were unavailable. The sweet fillings proved to be the better of the options, both the ube and Nutella were on point. Though it's very difficult to miss on a Nutella and carb combination. Me So Hot Ramen - This spicy peanut tonkotsu broth ramen was delicious. A lovechild of a spicy dan dan and tonkotsu broth was a fantastic flavor bomb. Ground pork was very good. The other toppings of scallions, egg, and bean sprouts were just okay to good. I just couldn't figure if it was really fresh or just sunk into the broth too much, but it felt a bit overly mixed in. Katsu Curry Ramen - The curry is a yellow based Chinese style curry. Flavors were good. Vegetables mixed into it felt a little bit muddied for some reasons. Consistency of the broth was good as well where it was slightly thick to almost a stew, but not overly liquid. The katsu was well fried and crispy. Any tinge of dryness is easily overcome by dipping the katsu itself into the curry. Overall the food was a mix of good, unfortunately missed the mark, and perhaps a misstep in execution. Our table ordered only 5 sets (orders) of buns, but somehow ended up with a total of 7 orders. Our table went ahead and paid for the extra orders regardless since we didn't want to make a fuss. No one ever came back around to check on refills for soft drinks, so it was only that one glass for myself. Staff again was very friendly and helpful when we needed an additional straw where we were short one for the table. This restaurant is definitely a one off and worth a try for some photo-ops and the sweet buns.
