The food, service, and ambience were all fantastic. The services provided by the professional management and staff are the main reasons that we keep coming back. The old world elegance is a rare thing, and we value their focus to make sure that everything about the dining experience is excellent. I highly recomend this restaurant.

Not bad at all! Nice filling comfort food that hit the spot. The Gumbo was decent, the blackened salmon nice and tender, the fried catfish, fries, and hushpuppies were delicious! Very reasonable prices and a very comfy casual setting

It's been a while since I've visited this original Flying Fish location. As I walked in I was reminded about how excited I was to find this place almost 20 years ago. The eclectic decor and authentic Gulf Coast fish shack vibe "Hooked "me.Shannon Wynne definitely knows how to do restaurants and Flying Fish is a great example. Cutting no corners on food ingredients or preparation, he "feeds" the public like he wants to be fed. Attention to detail in every inch of the place from the door to, the helpful counter staff, to the always delicious meal.Today's fried catfish and gulf shrimp were no exception. If you haven't been its definitely time to...Go!

Go to Big Shucks. Better portions. No old fishy smell. Fresh cut fries not from a bag. They sell you a 14$ basket and it's mostly frozen bagged fries. They're not even fresh fries.Their taco plate has more food for the same price. One of the 3 fish tacos had more fish than the box did. So for the same price you get 3x the protein and no stale frozen fries. Great for my grandpa's meal but left me hungry. I threw the fries away because they were just hard and not very good. It's better to buy frozen fries at the store and make them yourself so you don't get something that's been sitting out and overcooked with soggy grease.Their customer service is awful.I live 20 minutes away and their solution is I can spend 40 minutes there and back for a refund. Really? So I spend 40+ on food from them and half my order is two cups of frozen french fries that are limp and luke warm with lots of grease. The place smelled like old fish when you walk by before you even walk in.

This place is amazing. Upon entering you can tell that this restaurant is beloved by its community and has been a staple here for a while. It's very well decorated and it was packed when I entered for lunches this restaurant specializes in Cajun food from Po boys, to fried baskets, to plates. I tried their shrimp jambalaya with bread and I really enjoyed it. The shrimp were over cooked, but the flavors made up for it. The staff is friendly and efficient and a great option for a quick lunch. The pricing is about $15 for most options and for the area it's not bad. I would definitely come back on a different day to try other dishes. If you bring a Billy Bass, you get a free fried basket and they have a rewards card as well. So fun!

good basic fried fish - shrimp, hush puppies and fries in basket - i'd say not necessarily exciting but dependable food. Staff is always nice - pleasant and helpful on ordering. They offer a grub club offer if you sign up - if you enjoy might be worth it or convenient - can be used for pick up also. One of the best items to me consistent is the Mexican Shrimp Cocktail - a meal in itself and so good during summer hot days.

Service was great and super nice! However I got the crab and shrimp combo and it definitely didn't taste like a seafood boil. Crab came out dry and the shrimp tasted like the frozen cocktail type. I sent it back and got a burger and it wasn't anything special either :(. I do want to come back and try the gumbo tho

Was craving the sea, so we dove into Flying Fish. First time at this location, set up is similar to ours other locations. Daughter got the shrimp po boy wich was good, bread was good as well. I got the shrimp and catfish platter and it did lot disappoint either. The only negative thing I have to say is that I don't remember the shrimp cocktail being in that consistency they had at this location. It's the Mexican version and every time I got at at the Sachse location I don't remember it like that. The shrimp also has ice still stuck to it wich was kind of disappointing.Over all good experience, was just a little disappointed with the shrimp cocktail.

It was one of those Saturday nights. I didn't want to stay home, order delivery, and watch reruns of Seinfeld. But, on the other hand, I didn't want to dine out where:I had to get dressed upIt was overly fancyIt required reservations dramaIt involved a thirty minute drive with parking or valet HellAnd I simply wasn't in the mood to get a bank loan to cover the cost of dinner. But where could I go that wasn't a Mickey D type drive-through or Taquitos from under the heat lamps of 7-Eleven?Then it hit me...Ding! Ding! Ding! How about Flying Fish in Preston Center? And there was even a bonus point award since I hadn't eaten there for nearly five years.Flying Fish is casual to the max...tacky fishing décor, picnic style tables, walk-up counter ordering and pick-up. One of the drawbacks of Flying Fish is the wide Southern-style, fish-based menu ranging from Poor Boys to tacos; fried fish and chicken baskets to grilled fish and shrimp plates; and boiled platters. I almost settled for a dozen or two of oysters with a side of corn-on-the cob, but, at the last moment, my better half happily exclaimed, "They've got lobster rolls!" The thought of some tender Maine lobster rolls was indeed fetching, so I pulled the trigger. When our order was ready, I soon realized that my two lobster rolls were not really Maine lobster, and for that matter, not truly lobster, but Langostino...the poor man's lobster. But re-looking at the menu, it clearly said that they were Langostino and were priced way below that of prime Maine lobster rolls. Unfortunately, my better-half didn't know what "Langostino" meant when she spied them on the menu. Oh well. They still hit the spot. No complaints here. Matter of fact, our entire order was exactly what I was looking for on that Saturday night. The crowd on a Saturday night, like me, was casual, consisting primarily of families and older couples. So, be assured, that you don't have to wear your Sunday-Go-To-Meeting duds at Flying Fish.So next time you're looking for a moderately priced, casual seafood meal with or without the kiddies, get yourself to Flying Fish.(Oh, and by the way, they sling up a pretty good breakfast menu, too.)

Not a bad little dive joint for seafood! The crab was boiled in spiced water, but it wasn't inedible or overbearing. The price was right on par with most places. The oysters were delicious! .
