As I walked in, I climbed the stairs and was greeted by a lovely bar and beautiful lights, which created a great atmosphere. I ordered the pork chop based on the waitress's recommendation; she assured me it was tender and that I couldn't go wrong with my choice. However, I wasn't pleased to find dirty dishes placed next to me while I waited. When the pork chop arrived, I tasted it and found it to be decent. I wouldn't say it was super tender, as there were still some parts that required extra chewing or were difficult to chew at all. I'm also not a fan of the fruit served with it. Overall, the dish had nice flavor, but I probably wouldn't order it again. I would be interested in trying something else. I would come back because I do here that the brunch is great.

Ellie's - Disappointing Experience for a Special OccasionI had high hopes for Ellie's based on the reviews and the recommendation we received upon checking into our suite. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations--especially for a birthday celebration. From the start, service was painfully slow and they didn't have a huge crowd. Our waitress, Chelsea, took a long time to greet us and even longer to bring waters. She took our appetizer and entrée order at the same time but inexplicably waited until we finished our appetizers--30 minutes later--to even put in the entrée order, asking, "Are you ready for me to put in your dinner order?" Another 25 minutes passed before our food arrived.Once we finally had our meals, the lack of attention continued. A slightly larger crowd was now present which only made things get worse. Chelsea passed our table at least six times without checking on us, despite tending to nearby tables multiple times. Our drinks and waters were empty, yet no refills were offered. The birthday we mentioned at the start? Completely ignored.Ellie's did not live up to the hype and the level of service was nowhere near what I'd expect from a restaurant of this caliber. A truly disappointing experience, especially on what should have been a special evening and we were staying in a suite at the hotel.

WHAT THEY'RE KNOWN FOR: located in the Hall Arts hotel! I think they are known for their live jazz Sunday brunch. THE VIBE: VERY elegant, very modern and such a pretty interior. Literally taken away how gorgeous this hotel was! PRICE: ~$60 + $15 tip WOULD I COME BACK? Yes. ****Overall Rating: 7.5/10- The smoked trout dip was phenomenal (if you love fish of course) I absolutely would get it again. Even when we ran out of crackers, I could eat it by itself because it was that good. - The steak and fries were very good too! My boyfriend thought it was okay. The steak was a bit chewy even though it was cooked medium. Fries were solid. We split it bc we wanted another big back meal to our hotel room. - The only reason I rank it this way because of the vibes it was a typical 7pm Sunday dinner and it was pindrop silent. No music playing over the intercom it was literally eerie - To make it worse, our server wasn't exactly cracked out but she was on one or something and was just acting odd. The food also took forever to come out despite there only being like 2 tables lol us and one other party of 3. - The food was good but the vibes threw it off for sure lol.

The food was good. I really just kept drinking green juice and carrot juice, I was recovering from a long night out the night before and the Service was great and relatable, very personable! And the ambiance was definitely a beautiful sight to see and be in!

3.5 rating, personally. I would return during brunch hours for jazz 11-2pm on a Sunday. I was at a performance at Moody Hall and decided to walk the block to Ellie's. I wasn't hungry-- but wanted a light bite and to see what the lounge was about. Tuesday 8:45/9:00ish Parking: The hotel provides valet. I'm unsure of the charge. There is a garage as well- I'm not sure if it's validated, as I parked outside of the Moody for free (1 hr parking limit) Ambiance: it was nice. The bar was more full, but still seating was available. There may have been 6 other tables spread out within the lounge- one very loud family, but they were having a good time. People on their laptops and headphones- I'm assuming they stayed there and just wanted to come down to work in that type of environment with drinks. Food: I saw nothing on the main menu that I wanted, so I stuck to the appetizer. Meatballs. They were around $19-- you get 4 meatballs, topped with shaved Parmesan- on a bed of spinach and sauce. They were decent. 3/5. I wouldn't have to reorder, especially with the spinach getting stuck in my braces. lol. I would order these again if they had them on a happy hour- but not at regular price. I saw the cheesecake brought out and had wanted it prior, but the portion sizes here aren't too great for the price point. The price is the price, though- and that's not an issue for those wanting to enjoy the lounge experience. Waitress: she was ok. I got my food quickly and checked out quickly. She just put the receipt down and walked off without saying anything. Usually the server will say thanks, goodbye or something in my experience. She just plopped the check down and walked away- not even stopping. Not acknowledging me, or glancing my way. It was notably odd. There was another server who wasn't mine who helped me out during my experience, though-bringing me the main menu (I only had access to the appetizer/drink menu on the table. I thought that was all that was available during this hour) Asking what I'm in town for, or do I stay in the area? And smiling and engaging in conversation ---this is what I'm used to with service. This is hospitable, and what makes an experience- especially as a solo patron- enjoyable. I paid, tipped 20%, and left. I would return for brunch, and brunch only.

Came here in Sunday morning for brunch. They had a lively jazz band playing . I opted for the smash burger . It comes super plain and all add ons are $1 each. I got the side salad which was a bit soggy. Service was not great and we had to wait a good amount of time for our car from valet. All in all I'd go back only for the live music and ambiance . The menus left a lot to be desired.

I ordered room service from this restaurant during my stay at the hotel. I placed my order online on my phone, and it took about 50 minutes to get to the room. The staff called me to let me know about unexpected delays and they were extremely apologetic. I ordered the rotisserie chicken entree and got a cup of soup with it as well. The meal also came with bread and butter. For some reason, two soups were delivered to me (but I was only charged for one). The amount of food I received felt abundant, however it was all very delicious. The butternut squash soup was a little spicy but overall great on a rainy day. The chicken was so moist and flavorful! The best part was the platter of macarons delivered to me in apology for the delay in my order. Made my night to have an extra special treat after a very savory meal! This restaurant is very expensive, but I enjoyed my meal. Can't comment on the ambiance, although it looks beautiful inside.

This spot is in the Hall Arts Hotel. Located in the Dallas Arts district. Ellie's pays homage to Craig Hall's mother, Ellie, a trailblazer for women's rights and a passionate advocate for art. Ellie's Terrace provides a picturesque cocktail setting overlooking the Texas Sculpture Walk and a captivating James Welling mural. We had the cheese board, artichoke ravioli, tuna tartare and radicchio salad. Everything was superb. This spot shimmers and sparkles! Loved it!

Very nice place and the service is amazing. We popped in for drinks before a concert and they couldn't have been nice. They offer complimentary bar snacks.

Terrible service. I can't even give a full review because we couldn't even be seated. Walked into the such a beautifully themed restaurant only to wait at a host stand for almost 10 minutes, without a single acknowledgement. Such a terrible experience and will not be back nor would I recommend. Please read the reviews as this place is NOT worth your money.
