Elke's Market Cafe

I have been on the hunt for a good chicken salad sandwich, and will still be on the hunt after Elke's! Elke's is a very spacious cafe that serves very classic deli-styled meals. You order at a counter when you walk in. After you order, you seat yourself and grab your drinks and utensils (self-serve). I will say, the food came out a bit slow, and it was not busy - plenty of seating. The chicken salad itself was pretty bland, which was a bit disappointing. The potato salad was good, but the portion size was small. My friend ordered a seasonal special with figs and the use of figs was creative, but fell a bit short in terms of a seasonal speciality. Elke's was by no means bad, but nothing that particularly stood out! I would not be opposed to he going back, but I would not be rushing to go back anytime soon!

Food was fine but new owner was the rudest man. I had wondered why the place was so different (the last few times I had been there). New owners. It's a shame because the place was always packed and Elke and her husband were very friendly. Will not be back.

Service was good. The food was super tasty! I got the Figgy Piggy and my husband got the chili. Both were tasty.

Their Ham Salad Spread & Chunky Cheese Spreads are soooooo good!!! Also love the various breads & soups!

The first thing I noticed is how friendly the staff is! It's a nice place to have lunch, very spacious, great for groups. I went on the last day that they were serving a seasonal sandwich - cranberry and brie turkey sandwich - so I had to get it. It was absolutely delicious! The broccoli salad was too sweet for me, and the Greek pasta salad needed more dressing over all because it was kind of bland. I definitely want to check out more of their sandwiches and soups.

Elke's is my go to cafe!They are now open earlier and stay open till dinner time. I've been eating here for years and I've not had a bad meal. Delicious food and the best wine selection in town! Swing by and pick up a bottle of their Austin Hope cab...they even offer better prices on wine than Spec's because they have a restaurant Super nice owners too...can't wait to come back!

I met my neighbor for lunch here today and I was excited to try their lunch! I came here a few years ago for breakfast and hadn't been back in some time. No real reason why and now I'm wondering what took me so long to return!I go the cilantro chicken wrap with bacon & cheese potato salad. Fresh, but filling lunch! The potato salad is on another level of delicious! That, I may have to buy as a side sometime for a party or dinner! I love that they have a market to buy their treats and sides too!Can't wait to bring my hubs with me to check out!

Everything was very good, staff extremely friendly and helpful.Food was excellent.Very clean, open seating, well lighted.

Feels like homemade cooking! The best way to describe it is a bunch of family specials that hit the spot. if you've been working in the area and have had a lot of fast food this will feel like a good homemade meal. The restaurant is nice and clean with a marketplace attached. The music is relaxing and not playing too loud, it's clear a lot of locals regularly frequent this place, and the staff are all very kind. I would say that the soup was relatively bland however very fresh. The sandwiches are great however it's nice that they have the condiment bar to add to them.
