There is not a bad seat in this theater. I've visited twice and have sat in orchestra and balcony seats both giving me a great experience. If there is a show you want to see def recommend checking it out as this theater is small yet inviting

I saw Penny Candy here, and the play was exceptionally wonderful. It was local, gripping, thought provoking and even a bit sad. What was really sad, however, was the packing folks like sardines into the tiny studio room.Let me start with what was really great - the "come early" and "stay late." These events, appropriately about an hour before and 30 mins after the show, are opprtunities to listen to a cast member share histories of the show prior, and tomdiscuss impressions after. I really enioyed this for so many reasons. I was there on closing night, so much of the cast appeared for the "stay late." Loved it.The seating was absurd. I am small, but fit, at 5'9 and 155 lbs. I sat in a corner seat and was so crowded out because the seats were so close that it distracted from the show the whole time. Also, the space was humid. You are allowed to bring you purchased beverages and sweets from the lobby, though at least twice I felt the sound of M&Ms spilling on the floor disrupted the tiny room. I think that the room seated about 100, but the seats were so close. I only paid $20 but still feel like I got ripped off. I really wished I had not worn a suit because I felt so u comfortable due to the person next to me basically having to be in my lap.I really like some of the shows coming here but I cannot say I will attend again because I don't want to feel uncomfortable. It is a shame, because locally based plays like Penny Candy can really boost the culture scene.

I went to see In The Heights at this location, suggested by a good friend of mine. I knew I had to be here early because the parking can be pretty tough to find but fortunately, I found one extremely close to the theater. Finding the place wasn't that hard and it was easy to navigate through the building. The theater area was pretty spacious for its size but it felt small at the same time, it's not a bad size honestly. I would recommend people to bring their jackets because it can get a little chilly in after a while. But the music and the sound was pretty loud, a bonus for this deaf gal, the lighting and the arts on the stage was amazing. It was a pleasure to watch this show - & I'm glad I can say that I now can check off my list for visiting this theater after driving by it so many dang time.

My family and I went to see "A Christmas Carol" performed here a few weeks ago. There isn't a bad seat in the theater! I really like how it was a smaller venue, which made it more intimate. The lighting and sound were great! The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because there was nobody there directing traffic, so getting in and out of the parking lot closest to the venue was a nightmare. Make sure you get there extra early and park in the silver Lexus parking garage.

Was here recently to see Romeo & Juliet. The theater is older BUT I don't see how you could have a bad seat here! Our seats were on the third row from the stage - but the acoustics were perfect, the seating was comfortable and I loved everything about it.I found the building charming, and could not believe this was my first time. Parking was a breeze, its self park. The show began on time. They offered refreshments in the lobby and even allowed you to take them back inside with you for the show. The staff was beyond helpful and everyone was smiling. This was a great night and will always be an amazing experience for my books!

This theater is so cool on so many levels...I honestly don't even know where to begin on how awesome it is. I shouldn't have to tell you how beautiful, contemporary, sleek, and visually stunning the building facade is. Every minute aspect of the architecture is so intricate and thought provoking. I mean...wow...like wow...loss for words. And it ain't just pretty on the outside. The performing company is a theatrical powerhouse. I don't think I can ever look and think about theater in the same way. I saw "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and "Henry IV" here. AMAZING. Great acting...ridiculously creative sets. I haven't even began to go through the diverse seating variations/arrangements. The possibilities are endless. The Wyly is a destination not to be missed.I almost forgot to mention the best part!! Both times after the performance, there's a complimentary tour of the building where one one of players is the docent for a small group from the participating audience!!! It might be well into the evening, but worth it 120% if you've never done it before!

This is a one-of-a-kind, world class theater. I have attended four productions here: Tigers Be Still, King Lear, Red, and The Odd Couple. I plan to see the rest of the productions this season. What amazes me most is the actual stage. It is completely transformative. Every play I have seen, the scale and intimacy morphs according to the play's theme and personality. I just love it. Imagine sitting in a tiny, intimate space with several graduating rows the first time you see a play, and then for your second play, entering the same space, which now has rows and rows of seats, including box seats that extend into a mezzanine all the way up to the ceiling. Impressive! There are so many things I love about this theater. The modern architecture, the quality of theater, its downtown Dallas location, the pay-what-you-can theater nights. I just love it! The Pay-What-You Can is really DTC's best kept secret. For as little as pennies or a few dollars a ticket, you can see world class theater. (A theater professor of mine suggested though that you pay at least $3-$6 for each ticket--still can't beat it!) For those of us with a budget, that's a blessing! Of course, you want to buy your tickets online early because usually the seats are filled first come first serve.Oh DTC, I heart you!! I think I'll become a DTC friend and supporter very, very soon...:-)

Just went to see "Workng" in the he Annette Straiss Square. People with mobility disabilities we not allowed to sit in tall chairs on the lawn. We were fully prepared to sit in the back so we wouldn't block anyone but that was unacceptable to The Dallas Theater Center. Everyone with mobility issues was seated on a platform that was way off to the side. The line of vision and the sound were cut off from the people sitting in that section. Because we were at street level instead of the lower section where all the "healthy" people sat, we were subjected to increased noise from Woodall Rogers and the downtown traffic. Plus, anyone who was strolling around downtown could walk up to our section and make all kinds of noise. There were people riding skateboards around us. The ushers didn't care; they weren't weren't up there....no, they were on the lawn sitting in tall chairs behind all the "healthy" patrons. They could do it but we could not. And while they were sitting there they had their effing phones on so the light was shining in our eyes. The cast never once turned to address the disability section; they played only to the people on the lawn. Dallas Theater Center clearly does not give a shit about people with disabilities. We paid as much for our tickets as everyone else and they weren't cheap! Neither was the parking. We're out about $150 for a show we could barely see or hear. I am pissed.

I would give the performance five stars because the performance was exceptional. If I could give our seats a negative rating however, I would. We were on the third level front row yesterday. The only way we could see was to perch on our seat, lean forward with our elbows on the wooden railing and peer down. Very disappointing. We paid $380 for four seats. The picture attached is what I could see if I sat with my back to my seat. Sitting in my seat I could only see the people on the other side of the venue. The performance was down below. $380. Not acceptable. If I perched on my seat and leaned over the edge of the balcony, I could partially see. Such a disappointment not to be able to fully enjoy such an exceptional performance.

If I could give a zero star rating I would. I have been a long time subscriber to the Dallas theater center. Approximately 15 years. The theater has suffered greatly during the Covid 19 pandemic. This was to be expected and the quality of the shows was far less than earlier years. We have hung in there hoping that they would turn it around. It turns out the the Covid 19 nut balls are truly in charge. My wife and I just returned from attempting to see our scheduled show today. As we entered the Kalita Humphries theater we were informed that they now required not only masks, but proof of vaccination cards. WE are both vaccinated and boosted. We however did not know that we were now required to provide these docs. They told me that this was my fault as they posted this new requirement on their website and sent all subscribers and email siting the change in policy. Well, I am now home and have checked my email history and there was no email as claimed by the people at DTC. In addition at our last show in the fall they did not require proof of vaccination. They did how ever have us go through a metal detector. No metal detector today, I am guessing the the threat of concealed weapons has now passed. Thank god.As you can probably tell I am more that upset by their disregard for long time subscribers and will not attend future productions and will demand repayment for this play and other for which I have paid in advance. So in short, if you want to give in to their irrational and unscientific requirements for vaccination docs ETC. Please knock yourself out. The world and I are moving on and I suggest that if you are considering attend the DTC, consider again. They are Bush league and disrespectful of their subscribers. stay clear. there are many other ways to enjoy live entertainment. Thanks
