First stop after flying into DFW from central Florida was to Cris & John for lunch. I first discovered this place months ago on social media and immediately added it to my yelp restaurant bucket list. The ramenritto was pho-nominal! My wife really enjoyed the birria bao buns and the chips & elotes! Staff was nice and we will definitely be back!

I love it here! I was skeptical at first because I'm not a huge fan of fusion food, but this place is definitely worth a visit. Before going in deep for this review, there are 2 things you need to know: 1) Be there before opening time if you do not like waiting 2) Parking is a disasterWe arrived at 11:30 (opening time was 11am) and to our surprise, it was almost a full house inside with only 3 open tables left. We drove around the parking lot for around 15 minutes before a parking spot became available. There's signs designating parking for certain businesses. We saw people walking to the restaurant, but unsure where they parked or walked from. You'll order at the counter, pay, and then find a table/open seating. The food and drinks will be brought out to you. The staff consistently checks up on you during the meal to make sure all is good. The Food:Southern Soul Bao Bun- A nice balance of savory and spice. The bao bun itself is soft and not super thick. Just perfect!Fishin' Good Bao Bun- For the pescatarians because it was... average. Bang Bang Wings w/ plain fries- Tastes like it sounds. Dynamite! Not spicy, but has a little kick with a creamy/mayo like base. The fries, crispy and a great compliment to the wings. Served with ketchup and ranch. Birria Tacos- The consomé reminds me of bun bo hue broth with a hint of five spice? A good combination of fusion here. I like that they don't pre-mix the Thai tea with creamer. I was able to order plain Thai tea! This place definitely has bragging rights based on the number of articles they've been featured in. I'm so glad I put aside my fusion food prejudice! I would return here again to try the other menu items. PS- My only complaint: When we first arrived, there was a weird funky smell inside....... couldn't really detect what it was, but it was not pleasant.

Food - delicious. Staff - wonderful. Dining experience - not bad. Cris and John is said to be a Vietnamese Street Food establishment, but I think they need to change it to Viet-Mexican fusion because that's more fusion than non-fusion items (which is fine I loved it.)The parking situation is kinda trash. It's in a plaza and there's only so many parking spots available for the restaurant. You aren't allowed to park in front of the beauty supply store, the laundromat, or the 7Eleven spots (which is fair since those establishments need parking too...) You order your food then you're given a table and seating is limited. The menu situation is kinda weird. They have laminated paper menus that you can peruse while waiting in line. The counter leading up to the register has deals not shown on the menu. There's a chalkboard menu wall behind the register that you can look at. There's two displayed menus for drinks. It was kinda scattered because I was looking at the menu thinking "okay I'm going to get spring rolls and probably the bò kho chilaquiles" but then there's a "just you" deal and you can chose three different items on their deals list. I know this sounds like lots of complaining, but the food was good enough for me to want to come back again to try other food items. I thoroughly enjoyed the bò kho chilaquiles and the strawberry horchata churronada was fantastic. Staff came by to ask if we needed anything a few times. We came in around 6:30 pm and we got our food by 6:50 pm which isn't too bad tbh since that's time waiting in line and then ordering and getting seated and then getting the food. My friends and I are food and chatted away and overall it was a good time with good food.

This review is going to be from a group effort:Lots of food! The plate that showed for 2 could actually feed 4. It is called the angry pho Birria Platter. It had bao bun, Birria tacos, hotter than hell wings(and I mean HOT!!) and pho with a short rib. The short rib meat was so flavorful and tender, it pulled apart and went back into the pho. Ur could have used a little more broth. Birria tacos were nice and toasty and cheesy.....the boa buns were great! They have a firm, sweet but soft (if that makes sense) the meat we chose was the carne asada and it was so good. My hubby got the pozole and this dish was off the wall! The hominy was tender and the meat was tender. The fusion on the bowl was amazing. The spices that came out in the broth were bursting with flavor. This is was our favorite! And to end it all we had the churros. Perfect ending.

Much better food than I anticipated! Flavors definitely made my taste buds dance. Parking could get pretty nuts I imagine during rush hour. Service was great as they moved the line fast and food came out fresh and timely. It's a small indoor space so you come out smelling like the restaurant.

Our family visited Cris and John while we were in Texas because we were eager to try some Vietnamese street food. The restaurant is quite small and has a casual setup where you stand in line to place your order, receive a number, and then find a seat. When your number is called, you go up to the counter to pick up your food. It's a simple, no frills operation, which I appreciated for its efficiency. We ordered a wide variety of items, including Southern Soul Bao Buns, Birria Tacos, Sweet Chili Wings, Beef Short Rib Pho, Chicken n' Fries, Spring Rolls, Korean Fries, Cafe Churros, Cafe Sua Da, Thai Tea, various Lemonades, Water, and Coke. While the atmosphere was casual and the staff friendly, I wasn't particularly impressed with the food. Our daughter's Chicken n' Fries were probably the best dish. The fries were crispy and satisfying. The Sweet Chili Wing were just okay. Living in New York, we've had wings that were much better. The Southern Soul Bao Buns were decent, but they lacked something. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I wouldn't order them again. The Lemonades were unfortunately too sour for my taste, especially the Mango flavor, which I couldn't finish. However, the Cafe Churros were absolutely delectable. They were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, easily the highlight of the meal. While the experience wasn't bad, I felt that some dishes could be improved. It's a fun spot to try for a quick bite, especially if you're in the area, but for those looking for standout flavors, there might be better options elsewhere.

Customer service was excellent. One staff member went around checking on tables to ensure everyone was satisfied, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Be prepared for long lines, wait times vary depending on when you arrive. We came at 3:50 PM on a Friday and didn't get our food until around 4:45PM. There's only one bathroom, but it's clean. While there's plenty of parking, it can fill up quickly. The regular beef phorrito was flavorful, I was hesitant but I'm glad I decided to try it. The birria tacos were also tasty. The dry noodles with grilled chicken were good, with the yellow noodles having a nice texture, though the chicken was served cold. The grilled chicken spring rolls were good, but a bit dry, the peanut sauce helped improve the taste. Seating is limited, so expect to wait!

This casual eatery is exactly what we need more of in this world! It is light hearted, fun, and innovated in its dishes. I am very pleased to say that there was not one thing I disliked, in fact I am very much in love with the entirety of the platter. I will definitely be coming back soon to try out the rest of its unique menu. The birria tacos were authentic and flavorful, not overpoweringly fatty nor dry. The chicken wings were perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside with the sweet chili sauce adding the perfect amount of flavor onto the wings. As a mexican-vietnamese fusion restaurant I am completely astounded by this incredible feat and highly recommend to any foodie

I ordered the Pho Burger Platter and Churros to-go because the dining room was already closed during the lunch time. I chose the sweet chili wings, sriracha mayo fries, and sugared bao buns for the platter. The burger was good, I wasn't a fan of the greens in the slaw as there ere a bit chewy. It was also a little on the dry side and could have benefitted from more sauce. The sugar on the bao buns was different and a little odd but the meat was delicious, tender, and full of flavor I loved them. The wings were also great with good crunch and plenty of sauce without being too spicy. I was not a fan of the churros and ended up tossing most of them. I really did not like the taste of the filling or the dip, which may just be a personal preference. They also felt overly sweet. But, they were fried very well and not over done. Our food was ready and package by the time we got there and I appreciate the metal tin to keep it warm with plenty of utensils. The restaurant itself looked very nice and I wish we were able to dine in! Their hours are a bit odd and my boyfriend and I struggled for a few weeks to find a good time to come here because of that lol. That was also why our only option was to go. You have to be seated by 2pm to dine in before they close at 3, but 3pm still feels like prime late lunch time to me so I don't totally get why they are structured this way. But anyways their entire menu looks great to me and I will definitely be back to try more and sit inside next time!

We've been here twice now and this place doesn't disappoint. The food has just always been consistently an explosion of flavor. The flavor combinations are sort of strange but it's so well thought of and it works so good! My favorite was the phorrito and it was amazing! Service is quick and I love how they handle the busy line. They have a quick system of getting people in and out.I'm happy with this place because they don't let their popularity get in their heads. They serve their customers well!
