Coming from Hawai'i, I struggled to find a sushi restaurant with affordable prices. Of course, my husband and I found some great places in Dallas, but that's 30-45 minutes from our home - without traffic. That's not doable with this island girl's craving for sashimi. In the area we live in, there are many Polynesian communities, so I figured there has to be a place to satisfy our cravings. Of course, no one can beat fresh poke bowl in Hawai'i, but after living in Texas for over two years, we've found some great cuisines.I was happy that my husband stumbled onto Chihiro a year ago. We've been coming back for date nights ever since. It is a bit pricey, but the quality of the food served is exquisite! The cuts, sauces, soups, and everything I've tried is delicious. The bartender, Jen, is amazing! The drinks that she made me were tasty and quick! She's easy to talk to and creates meaningful conversations. She makes sure that you're well taken care of.Back of the house and sushi bar are on their game! The dish presentation and taste are always breathtaking. Bravo! My favorite is the Dreamliner roll, chicken katsu, and miso soup. The Dreamliner contains raw fish so if you don't like raw fish, there are different options on the menu you can try! When in doubt, ask. The chicken katsu is crispy and perfect. It comes with rice, cabbage, and miso soup. I think every month there's a special menu/tasting pair with a spirit or wine. In October, they had a wine tasting paired with meals off the menu. It's like a special party for you and your guests. Plus! You'll get to meet other people with similar food/alcohol similarities. The cost of it varies, so it's best to come by to Chihiro or call.I highly recommend trying Chihiro! If you're not a big raw fish person, then I would suggest asking about the rolls or nigiri before ordering.

There are some really hit items at this spot. While I wasn't obsessed with everything I tried, the things that did stand out to me have me hooked. I will start with the most memorable item - the nutty chihiro. This was a tower dish with GRANOLA, almonds, plenty fresh fish, a variety of sauces and soooo much flavor. They are served with shrimp chips that add some extra texture and fun to the eating experience because you can scoop the tower onto each chip. You would never think to put these snack items with sushi but they have got it totally figured out. We also tried the chef's choice nigiri platter and I will definitely pass on this next time. While the salmon and tuna were good (tender, fresh)...I did not feel this way about some of the other fish. Service was great though and the restaurant itself is nice inside. I would come to try new things or have a more unique experience but not if I was just craving sashimi or something simple!

Y'all, I only took one photo (in the shadows of my home) of one piece of the sushi I had delivered today for dinner-- I've got to do better. I don't have much photographic evidence of how beautiful and delicious Chef's Special Maki "The Cherry Blossom" is, you'll just have to order it. It's spicy salmon (buttery with a bite), apple (a cold, tart, crunchy surprise), and tempura bits (like little garlic crispies) topped with seared tuna (velvety and cherry-red) and a sriracha aioli. Plus, each perfect piece sits a top a little pillow of wasabi-creme. The perfect combo of flavors and textures, and can't get over how good the roll was even after being delivered to my house and sitting in my fridge for an hour. The fish is just so clearly super fresh, and everything from the produce to the house-made sauces to the seaweed salad is top quality and beautifully presented. Even a delivery order. PS: Chihiro is able to make your order gluten free. Even the tempura! Even many of the sauces. They have tamari. It's so nice to have plenty of gluten free, vegan, veggie options available. Chihiro is always so accommodating and creative.
