Cheba Hut Toasted Subs

The first place you will notice about Chiba Hot Toasted Subs when you walk in is the vibe! It has lively music and kind of a "stoner vibe". Please see my photos for examples of what I am talking about.The second thing you will notice is an overwhelming menu that you have to study for a bit. It might be worth your while to study the menu online before you come in so you don't make a decision you regret from peer pressure! Our service was fantastic. Being first-timers, we needed some guidance. Never once did we feel like we were bothering her with all of our questions. Once you choose your sub, you choose your size, a 4 inch Nug, an 8 inch Pinner, or a 12 inch Blunt. I ordered the G-13, Pinner size, on their house Garlic Bread. Wowza!!! Absolutely delicious!!!I highly recommend this place, it will ruin you for other sandwich shops!

I can't believe I'm writing this. I had such high hopes for this Cheba Hut since I loved the one in Fort Worth, but after visiting this Dallas location, I'm absolutely appalled and disgusted. First off, I placed an online order and showed up 15 minutes later to find the place DEAD--literally only one other person waiting. And yet, while I'm standing at THEIR DESIGNATED PICK UP AREA, one of the employees rudely told me to MOVE because I was "blocking the way." To make matters worse, most of the employees were in pajamas and just seemed completely UNINTERESTED in doing their jobs--except for Kat, the bartender, who was actually nice.We were starving, so we decided to eat there instead of waiting to get home. But after what felt like an ETERNITY (when the place was practically empty), I finally dug into my meal. And THEN it happened--more than halfway through, I bit down on something HARD. At first, I was sure my tooth chipped, but NO--after spitting the food out and digging around in my mouth, I found a freaking STAPLE. I couldn't believe it!!! I was DISGUSTED and genuinely concerned about what I almost swallowed.After waiting what's was probably about 10 mins for someone to come address it, Jasmine, the manger on duty, apologized and offered a refund and some free treats, plus a "free meal" next time I come in. But best believe I'm NEVER coming back here. How in the world are you using a STAPLER near open food? That's so dangerous. This doesn't seem like the first time based on the response I got. In addition, I've yet to see a pending reversal on my account. I just sat on hold for 20 mins waiting to follow up with Jasmine but no one returned to the phone. Sigh.If you decide to risk it and go to this location, please be EXTRA CAREFUL with your food. CHEW IT VERY SLOWLY--don't end up swallowing a staple like I almost did.

All the subs are great, never had a bad one. Love being able to sit at the bar have a cold draft beer and order from there. Bartender at this location is really nice and enjoyed our conversation with him.

I can't believe there are two. I used to frequent the deep ellum one but have not been going down there much and was looking for a sandwich shop and this popped up. Was just as good. I get the Italian and I'm obsessed with their rice treat desserts.

Sandwich was great and loved the vibe of the place! It isn't cheap. I got a med sized sandwich, chips and drink and it was $17I got the Greek sandwich! Food was prepared quickly and served to table. I love all the "toasted" names.

Food was amazing and sooo much variety. I don't eat meat and there were several options. Service was fantastic. We will be back and I'm telling everyone about my new find!

Their toasted subs are absolutely crave worthy! I've never been into the actual location, as they do deliver via DoorDash. Their food is just so good. I had to write a review. I have never had an issue with them sending me anything other than what I ordered, so I would assume their service is on point in store as well.

I had a rare craving for an italian sub sandwich and I've been wanting to try Cheba for some time so i came here to no one in line so I had time to get a further look at the menu even though I knew what I was getting. I got the medium Italian on garlic herb bread with everything on the sandwich with a rice krispie treat. Cheba is vibrantly decorated on the inside following it's theme and I was surprised to see a bar in the back. I could smell my sandwich through the bag on my way home so I was to excited to dig in. The sandwich definitely passed the look test, the sandwich was stuffed and looked delicious. Unfortunately and surprisingly, I didn't care for the sandwich. The ham was cut thicker than I liked and I didn't really care for the taste of the ham or salami. I was expecting alot more flavor from the garlic herb bread, but it was pretty mild in flavor but I still liked the texture and taste of the bread. The meat to cheese ratio was off, I couldn't taste any cheese or the sauce that was supposed to be on the sandwich so the sandwich was pretty dry. The rice Krispy was the worst I've ever had, I can't believe it was so bad; it was extremely dry and was severely lacking in any marshmallow flavor. With all of the critiques, I would still come back. The menu is decent sized, and the sandwich quality was good, so I'd go back and just try something else, and I'd still recommend Cheba.

Wonderful little sandwich spot where the optometrist used to be.We enjoyed the vibe and the sandwiches too; very well dressed and yummy bread. We split across but I would like to go back and find "my" sandwich.We tried the Italian and the club and while they were good I'm still searching for the sandwich here that I just can't say no to. Only one way to find out!

I love the vibe of this place. People who are morally butt hurt by the pot head theme should probably just go elsewhere. The employees are friendly and make me feel welcome. The food is very good. A bit over priced, but what isn't these days. My only complaint is the speed. They are extremely slow. I met a friend here for lunch, and it took 41 minutes to get two sandwiches. The place was busy, but no where near that busy. I will definitely continue to eat here because the food is very good, but I do hope they can learn to pick up the pace a bit.
