A dive bar's, dive bar, nestled in the sweet spot between Deep Ellum, Lakewood & Uptown, is what's needed from time to time! Charlie's Star Lounge has clientele as colorfully all encompassing as their decor; definitely a place to check all your biases at the door, because all are welcome here! Don't arrive expecting fancy stemware, or rocks, rather plastic cups, filled with some of your favorite libations for great prices, served by a wonderful bartender, appropriately named "Big Fun". Djs pump different genres on vinyl nightly, so dancing is highly recommended, inside or on their patio surrounded by parking. If you're a taller person, be careful in some areas because your head will make contact with a speaker. Be sure to look around, you just might find me wiggling to the music. Xoxo Lorenzo!

Charlie's is the crusty love letter to your most casual self.The drinks are reasonably priced, and I especially love anywhere that does a "shot+beer" special. This is a place where the bathrooms are always clean and visually fascinating and the DJs are out of this world. You want to hear real DJs spinning vinyl and doing a fine job? Come to Charlie's. Anything from Italian disco to Afropunk goes here.Retro vibes. Wood paneling. Hand drawn napkin art. Arcade machine. Easy water access. Awesome covered and uncovered patio. Upscale and lowbrow. Homemade ice cream. Tattoo artists! Weekly karaoke. Local food vendors. Sick merch. All are welcome. Be cool.

Well, what can I say. The word is out. It's big. It's open to everyone. It welcomes a cultural mix of Dallas with a slight favor for the disconnected and mysterious. Are we talking Charlie's... Or Mikey? Whatevs.... Both are comprable.

Very friendly staff. No trouble getting drinks or a short chat. Music was interesting for the crowd. Definitely a contrast there but patrons didn't seem to mind. Husband and I are not from around but the staff didn't make us feel like outsiders at all.

I always have the best time at Charlie's; it's a super fun place to let your hair down and dance your ass off, plus you can rub elbows with pretty much anyone- I have already spent so many incredible nights enjoying the music, the banter, and the whole mood of the place is just like home. I dig it! The music, the staff, the prices- all on point!

So much fun. This trendy dive bar was packed to the gills on a Saturday night. Parking is dramatic but worth the pain. This place feels like they just decided to open a bar in my great aunts trailer park or an old tote the note car dealership. Cheap drinks. They had a live DJ that shredded the entire night. The people watching was unmatched. Locals from the neighborhood, hipsters, older folks and youngsters all co-mingling. They have a small patio with tables. The place was packed. Everyone was cool. Highly recommended.

The large male bartender in the crop top is consistently rude to me every time i come here. it really sucks because i love coming here but this bartender bullies me every time he interacts with me which is really upsetting.
