The ambiance is great-they obviously took a lot of time designing their space, and it was worth it. The staff are all extremely friendly and love showing the kids how the puppets and marionettes work. The show itself is fun and not long, so little ones do not have the opportunity to become bored. After the show the kids were taken on stage for pictures with the marionettes and then backstage to see how things worked. They all seemed to be having a great time. Also make sure to get the reduced parking pass-takes the parking down to 5 bucks! Can't wait for the next production!"

Trina W. "Went to opening night of Meet me in St. Louis and loved it!This is one of me and my fiance's favorite musicals so we bought tickets immediately when we heard it was coming to the community theater! We were able to pick up our tickets at will call inside relatively quickly upon entering. The staff greeted us and were very friendly and informative. We were given our programs and made aware that it can be a bit chilly inside the theater but that there were blankets available for use set up just outside where you would enter. There is a small snack bar in the lobby area. I believe you can take drinks in but not the food (can't remember 100%) there was a 15 minute intermission in between acts to be able to go to the restroom or grab a quick snack/drink. The actors were great, each very into their part. For it being open night there was only one line flub that I noticed BUT we have watched the movie about a million times so I'm sure anyone who hadn't did even catch it. Very happy with the entire production! I'm was nervous when picking seats because I couldn't find any information on if the seats were all the same level or not. For those wondering themselves, they were not it was raised like stadium seating. The theater itself is pretty small so seats go right up to the stage. The floor at the very front is reserved as a handicap area. At the end if the show we were all invited by the staff to stay for wine and cake to celebrate opening night with the cast. I highly recommend coming to see a show here if you have a chance, totally worth it for the price! ( My fiance proposed outside just after the show that night ^_^ )"

Alida R. "The Plaza Theater is a former movie theater that's been converted to a space for live shows. They rent out to a number of different groups. Check out shows from the Company of Rowlett Performers, or CORP (full disclosure, I just performed in one of their shows!) It's a great space to see a show. The acoustics are good, and the movie-theater style seats are comfortable and wider than many theater seats. There's no designated parking lot, but there's usually plenty of free street parking around the theater in the downtown Garland square. From the acting/backstage side: there's not a ton of space in the wings, and only a very small dressing room, since it was built as a movie theater originally. But it's otherwise a great theater space, and you can make it work for any show!"

The theater is a nice size with cushioned seating. The stage is plenty big for whatever kind of show they are doing there. What really stands out to me is that they place is very open to sharing with the local School District. The GP district is big on Arts and alot of talent gets to be shown off here which is a HUGE thing for kids. There is plenty of room in the lobby for art shows or whatever. I hopefully will be able to go to many different things here in the upcoming years with my kids going through school in the district. This place is like in the middle of town on the main strip and parking can be tricky but if you drive around a bit you can find it no problems. Thank you Uptown for being a huge support for your local school's."

Sarah T. "Awesome event venue and rental space in a prime location in downtown Carrollton. The venue used to be a historic movie theater and has been converted into an event hall, while retaining the cool movie theater marquee outside and theater feel. (I've seen couples put their names up on the movie theater marquee when they hold weddings there, which is really unique and neat!) I've always had a great experience with the Plaza Arts Center team and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to rent space for a performance, corporate event, special event, etc. I believe they also do rentals for dance classes and other ongoing activities, in addition to weddings and parties. Compared to other event spaces I've looked into in the area, their rates are definitely very reasonable. Great venue with affordable rental prices = awesome!"

Well acted, you could clearly picture everything happening even with its minimal sets. A really lovely evening. This location was a little confusing to me at first, so let me make it easier for anyone else going. You are looking for the Fort Worth Community Arts Center building, inside is an art gallery (which you can peruse for free beforehand) and two theater spaces, the Sanders Theater and The Scott Theater. Parking was right across the street in the Will Rogers Coliseum parking lot. Hardly any walking required, it really is right across the street. It did say special event parking $10, but when we went the gates were up and it was free parking. The Sanders Theater is very small, about maybe 6 or seven rows of seats going up, so very close and personal performances here. There is just something wonderful about smaller live productions that people really put their time and heart into. No dress code here, come as you are and enjoy. It brings out the inner thespian in me and makes me wish I had pursued acting like I once wanted to. The actors are all just wonderful and I've never seen a bad show here. The line for the bathroom does get long at intermission with only three stalls and lots of ladies, but if that's the worst thing that happens here, we're good. Snacks are inexpensive and beer and wine are complimentary. Make sure to tip the snack bar. I like to buy popcorn and shake m&m's in the box. Andrea H. "I took a gamble on a small, local theater that was performing the musical stage production of the popular Mel Brooks film Young Frankenstein. My husband and I love and often quote the cult classic film, so I optimistically bought tickets through RCT website for the last weekend the stage production was playing. The theater is tucked into a rarely visited strip mall. There was lots of parking. The entrance lobby was quite plain, but spacious. At the end of the hall, we picked up our tickets at will call. Around the corner was a small concession stand selling cute, small buckets of old, stale popcorn, cookies, soda as well as beer and wine. The theater area has old cinema seats on a raked platform. You could clearly see the stage since the seats were well staggered so you weren't looking at the back of someone's head. Unfortunately , the seats never seem wide enough, and you always find yourself fighting for the shared armrest. At least the bottom cushion was supportive and comfortable. I could have easily sat there through both acts and the intermission. The cast was phenomenal! They sang beautifully, danced with decent precision, strutted around in some amazing costumes while taking us on a near perfect rendition of the actual movie. Lighting and background sets were somewhat limited, but what they had worked great and didn't detract from the show. The comedy was there and they even threw in a few extra jabs at local politicians to the delight of the audience. It appears they focus on some classic theater productions throughout the year. Shows that are known and loved by everyone (White Christmas, Annie, Mamma Mia, etc.). It seems like a winning formula that is working for them. I wouldn't hesitate to come back for another date night."

Actors get close to you and it's kind of exciting to be so near the stage.I love that during intermission you can buy some basic wine or beer and have it in a plastic cup with a lid to take back into the theatre. Ridiculously inexpensive, especially when purchasing during preseason sale, 5 shows for the price of 3! But wait, there's more! Circle Theater is conveniently located in Sundance Square, walking distance to lovely indoor/outdoor dining and specialty shops if you happen to get downtown before the show. The theater is intimate and comfortable, the restrooms are clean and the other theater watchers range from young to seasoned. We have had some wonderful chats and have enjoyed people watching while sipping wine or coffee in the waiting area before the doors open. A couple tips if you're new to the theater or their season ticket holder experience... its a small operation (hence the great prices and quality of performances) so please be patient if there are initial misunderstandings. Once you get the hang of it, it's easy. You won't get anything in the mail except maybe a calendar of shows. All ticket reservations are online or over the phone. Season ticket holders can reserve seats a week or two(?) prior to the show going on sale to the public - do it then to get good seats (although they're all good seats, it's intimate). We always reserve our seats for the next show while at the theater during the current show :) If you won't make a show and you have seats reserved - call before the show!! Or you'll lose your tickets. Lastly, there's different season rates based on day, time and area you want to sit in. Website has details if you drill downHope this helps! The seats are spacious and comfy, and we had a great view of the stage. The show was pretty impressive for being performed completely by kids and all the crew being kids. The sets were bright and looked professional. The audio was good quality. The kids were well rehearsed and did a great job. They had a huge cast and I'm blown away that they could manage that many kids to do such a great job. They even had some tiny little pirates! The show itself had a nice creative aspect to it. I have seen Peter Pan before and it was fun to see a different view and showing of it. The only negatives, and these are probably because it's all kids, some of the acting isn't great and the choreography was a little basic and not perfectly performed. My earliest memories of the place are of the insanely steep and jagged carpeted steps that led downstairs to the "lounge" style (old school) bathrooms downstairs that my sister and I would race up and down no doubt upsetting many an old lady there for an afternoon matinee. As I grew up I began to find my place in the world and whether it was the influence of the seasons of shows we had seen or the weird welcoming family that is Theatre people I found my place was in the theatre. So, I will admit that this review is mostly nostalgic. As I do not live in the area anymore I do not frequently attend shows at this magical space and sadly upon my most recent visit to the area it appears that the Kalita Humphreys is need of a little TLC. It appears like the Dallas Theater Center has abandoned its old hallowed halls for a more chic venue. This happens and I am not bitter. I understand that sometimes a space outlives its intention. What I cannot understand is why this building seems to have been forgotten. The ol gal needs a bit of help. A little bit of history of this building reveals that it has a very famous architect! The only theatre that was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and actually he never got to see it finished, sadly dying before construction was done. It evokes all of that style with its bold lines and crazy shapes. Its a ONE-of-a kind as all Frank Lloyd Wrights are. Upon my most recent visit to this space for an event I was ecstatic to show my husband the Theater that inspired and fueled my love and career for the arts. He had a great time exploring the funny shaped hallways, lower lobby, and the interesting windows that open into the theater. Who ever heard of such a thing? Windows in a theatre? I love it! As a little weird theater kid growing up in Texas this was our church. It will forever have a place in my heart and hopefully it will be preserved for others to enjoy the strange mysteries of the arts. Now get out there and see a show!"
