Burger Island

This place specializes in burgers. They do have a few other items on the menu, but burgers are the main course. They have a picture board that quickly lets you select a burger sandwich, but you can also study the menu board that lists everything that comes on the predefined sandwiches. Combos with a burger, fries and a drink are often cheaper to get than the specialty burgers listed. For instance, I was going to get the jalapeño burger (-$7.50) along with a drink and fries, but it was actually cheaper to get the standard burger combo and then pay extra to add jalapeños to the sandwich. Two guys worked behind the counter and cooked our burgers on the grill. Our meals were brought to our table. The drink station had Pepsi products. You could also order a beer here. They had bottled items and a few beers on tap. The facility was relatively clean in appearance, but there was an unpleasant smell coming from the bathrooms. I chose a table as far away from them as possible. I didn't check them out. It's a snack bar, hangout. This is a greasy spoon that you might come to for a quick bite or to get an order to go, but it is definitely NOT a date night place or a place where you would want to hang with your girlfriends. My husband absolutely loved his meal. He was happy with the freshly cooked burger and the reasonable price. The burger tasted fine, but it was a bit greasy. Juices dripped onto the paper-covered metal tray with each bite I took. I was afraid to set my sandwich down because I wasn't sure I would be able to pick it up again without it falling apart. Afterwards, I doused my hands with Purell to clean up a bit. I couldn't wait to get home to wash my hands with soap and water. Crinkle fries were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside as expected. There was Ketchup on the table. A variety of hot sauces were available at the drink station. If you are hankering for a burger, head to this strip mall in Richardson to get one.

Ive been away much too long! Actually, I was in the area and looking for lunch. I drove through the parking lot rubber necking the place for some reason while trying to decide I spotted the lunch special sign. A quick u-turn,parked in front and I was in the door.How about a little Burger Island history to start out. Between 15 and 20 years ago, I saw a blurb in the then widely circulated alternative newspaper, Dallas Observer. It ranted positive about this new Island burger place.As a life long Certified Card carrying Burgahalic,I jumped at the first chance. If not mistaken it was this location.With my first bite all those years ago I was sold. It was one of the best hamburgers I'd ever had and reasonably priced. Add the fresh hand cut fries and you have a perineal winner.Jump forward to present day and things have changed. Recently I noticed other locations I'd eaten at and thoroughly enjoyed,closed. Bad sign right. I suspected the pandemic had something to do with that. I also suspected Burger Island had changed ownership. A little research indicates I may be right.Bottom line,the dry meat on my burger today is usually a telltale frozen meat. Also,the fries have changed. Overall,I didn't fell the " love" put into the preparations of my cheeseburger as in the past.If this is what they offer now,I won't be back.No...don't Go!

The burgers are to die for, and they're huge, along with a generous serving of French fries. The owners/staff are friendly and courteous, and the restaurant itself is clean with brightly red and white checked tablecloths. Don't wait...run

I ordered the avocado cheese burger and added an egg to mine which was an excellent choice. The avocado was very fresh and tasty. I love this place and it never fails me. Definitely recommend!

So glad that I discovered this place!!! It was the best philly I've had in a while... The never frozen meat just hits you different! Sweet potato fries were crispy to perfection! Will definitely be back soon to try the burgers.

Good burger options for every taste with giant Styrofoam cups of iced tea to go. This location has been a staple of Richardson diets for over 40 years and likely to last 40 more!

I'm so satisfied with how my food taste that i had to stop mid way to write this review. My burger was cooked well done and was so juicy. I've been coming for a few years now and it's always satisfied my cravings. the mozzarella sticks are also really good!

Burgers were good and fried mushrooms were excellent. They have lots of options for your burger so really want to go back and try another one.

Food is good but the Rowlett location is still better, but everything else is cool building is very clean. I just wish the Burger islands in Rowlett could repeat itself everywhere...
