Friendliest place in Houston to play bridge. Slowly opening up to full schedule. I always have fun.

One of the best duplicate bridge studios in The Dallas area. They have great instruction and activities for beginners as well as great games everyday for veteran players. They are well run and friendly. Very clean cards and restrooms. It's no wonder they are in the top 25 in the country AGAIN!!

Wonderful place to learn and play Bridge. As a first time bridge player I was welcomed with open arms and lots of friendly faces. Learning bridge is quite a rewarding process especially for us mature beginners. Donna and her staff are busy all the time but everyone is willing to take time to help you in any way they can. I hope to eventually play well enough for the big room. The Play and Learn classes are priceless both for the educational experience and the camaraderie. I was a little dismayed at one of the reviewers who dissed BAND because they are a for-profit business. Of course they have to charge to teach and play -- there is no rent or utility fairy that I have heard of. So my advice for that person is to put her big panties on and get over herself.

Do not recommend. The players are entitled and coddled by the directors. The "Zero Tolerance" policy is a joke. I have never played bridge with such unpleasant people. Players are allowed to ask directors for help on what to bid during the hand. This is quite unfortunate because the clubs directors are C+ players at best and have no idea what they are doing. It is not a good environment to foster new players in the game, although they advertise as a teaching club. On a positive note, the game times are convenient and the facility is nice.

Clear, concise lessons presented in understandable format by patient and accomplished teachers. Fabulous games with interesting people. Love the fact that I get to meet smart people that I wouldn't otherwise get to know. And there is zero tolerance for rudeness. BAND is a friendly and challenging place to hang out.

If you are looking for a club to join and a place to play bridge every day, this will be a good fit. It is a very active club with a well heeled set of club members who spend a great deal of time and money playing bridge. The instructors tend to pander to these individuals and are not above snubbing a new player who is not a frequent face at their tables. The ongoing classes, based on Audrey Grant's bridge books, range from very informative to over crowded and confusing. The club has gone through some management changes in the past year that appear to have improved both the classes and the general atmosphere, although there are still times the instructors seem unfamiliar with the printed pages they use as teaching guides and flounder around trying to create hands to illustrate their points. The club could benefit greatly from some sort of overhead system for presenting material in class. While there is an overhead system in the big playing room, it is not used for teaching most classes. While most people play bridge for the mental challenge, fun and social interaction, never forget this club is a business. It is all about generating revenue. If you join with this in mind, there will be less disappointment with the general atmosphere of the club. However, I do question any bridge organization that has to put a smiley face 'play nice' card in the bid box.
