First time there, place was packed but staff was nice and friendly, customers didn't cause any ruckus so that was a plus! Once seated I was confused about where the money was and the waitress as if this was my first time I told her yes she was extremely helpful and gotten me through the newspaper that is the menu!!! I was trying to find a good drink and she recommended the Huckleberry lemonade and I'm glad she did because it was beyond delicious! She worked with me to get my order how I would like it and when I tell you everything was delicious perfectly cooked service was phenomenal I will definitely be going back there again!!!

Chili was good in flavor, but very thick. Like, thicker than a stew. More like a bean goulash. So, no crackers can go in it.The Ruben sandwich also let him down. Didn't taste any dressing. Corned beef was a little lacking in presence and flavor. And barely any sauerkraut. Overall, big disappointment.Chicken fried steak went over well by OP, but he eats anything.I had breakfast: scrambled eggs, bacon and French toast. Nothing to write home about, but I enjoyed it.We went at 2:00 on a Monday. There were maybe 3 tables occupied. We didn't realize it's a big chain. So instead of a cute little diner, it's an IHOP or Denny's with a different name.

We are very familiar with Black Bear, as we have family in California and BB is abundant there. I was excited to see that they opened one here! We had an overall very good experience. The decor is everything we love about Black Bear. Our server was Leo, he was very kind & attentive. I ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes & green beans. Everything was very good. My son ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast and his was also very good. I did take a star off because the potatoes were not hot & the coffee was just mildly warm....cold after the first sip. I usually love the coffee at Black Bear, so that was a letdown. We will return when we are in town, next time for breakfast. I'm hoping the California Egg Benedict is as good here as in CA.

Great place to meet friends and converse! Food was reasonably priced and the service fast and friendly. We had a large group and everyone walked away full and happy!

Pot roast, meatloaf, salads and soup. Cornbread and free pancake samples. Lots of wine and laughter! All the meal items were delicious! Sadly for us, you ran out of the pot roast. We would have had more. Thank you to the restaurant staff for making our Holiday Exchange party a great one for a large group. You were very patient with our orders given the size of our group. Our tables put together in the back, middle alllowed for some privacy so we wouldn't be too disruptive. We'll be back soon!

This morning was my first time to eat in a Black Bear Diner. It will also be my last time to eat in a Black Bear Diner. The service and ambiance were both fine. The portions were more than ample. Unfortunately, the appeal of the food (I had one of their breakfast omelets) was a notch or two below mediocre. I would have definitely preferred smaller portions of food that I would actually WANT to eat instead of a mountain of food that bored me after the second fork full and for which I could not come up with any reason to indulge in a third fork full. My parents taught me to always go out of my way to find something nice to say. So, here it is:The high points of my dining experience at the Black Bear Diner were the free ketchup and the free parking.

What a wonderful addition to the alliance presidio area. Biscuits were true biscuits!! Huge , light and fluffy. Chicken fried steak was a huge portion. My eggs and potatoes were cooked to perfection. It is a little of a beast to leave you have to go back to North tarrant and turn around but other than traffic inconveniences it was a beautiful decor with wonderful food.

Well I don't post reviews often. But we ordered take out from Black Bear last night. Ordered post roast and cobb salad. Get there and the worker says, 'we don't have pot roast'. Okay, ordered meat loaf. While processing this change order, they 'found' the pot roast. So where was it? It led me to believe that they do not prepare the meals from scratch. Ordered a side salad, "we don't have any salad'. But, they prepared a cobb salad... WT. So the side salad was replaced with green beans. Got home with the meals, the cobb salad had very little greens, the chopped up breaded chicken was very dry and tasted old. The post roast's texture felt like little plastic pieces of meat. It was dry also, not fresh at all. We did not receive any bread/rolls with the meals. We have been to this place in the past, and it was fine, but this time the food was not good, tasted stale as if it were cooked at lunch and left in storage. Our order was at 6:30 on a Sunday evening. I will not be eating at this establishment in the future.
