Update on the dishes I tried this time:I gave chatamari a try, but it didn't quite hit the mark. It lacked the authentic touch I was expecting, and the ground meat topping was overly salty. Unfortunately, I couldn't take more than a bite. The bara, however, was a delightful surprise! The texture was soft yet crisp and it came with the tama aloo soup which was absolutely yummy. The veg thukpa was comforting but the momo chicken thukpa stole the show between the two (of course)! The piro aloo brought some heat to the table! As always, the momos didn't disappoint. I tried both fried and steamed, and they are consistently flavorful, juicy, and satisfying. The pork sekuwa is also consistently good. The real winner of the evening, though, was the cocktail mango pasa with titaura. I couldn't resist getting three rounds of it! The drink had the perfect balance of tangy, spicy, and sweet!!!

We recently visited Bara and tried a variety of dishes: pork momo, sukuti chatpate, aloo wo, pork sekuwa set, chowmein, and chatamari. Out of all of them, the chowmein stood out as the best--it was flavorful and well-prepared. Unfortunately, the rest of the dishes were pretty average. We've definitely had better momo elsewhere, and the other items didn't quite meet our expectations. For drinks, we had the Titaura Soltee and the Newari Old Fashioned. They were decent, but nothing particularly memorable. The ambience, however, was--inviting and comfortable, perfect for a casual outing. The service was excellent, with the staff being attentive and friendly throughout our visit.Overall, a mixed experience.

I randomly order one night and it was the most pleasant surprise that I've ever had. I ordered the lamb chops and chile momos. The lamb chops were so flavorful and tenderand you get a nice amount for $16. The raw veggies and rice that came with it were also good. The Chile momo had good flavor in the sauce but they were a little hard. All in all, really flavorful and delicious food for a good cost. I'll definitely be coming back for those lamb how.

Being from the area, Bara peaked our interest from the moment the sign went up. So we were stoked to give it a go this past Friday.Upon arrival, we were greeted by a very friendly hostess who asked for our preference in seating. They have quite the selection from booths to tables to bar top seating to floor level seating with foot wells. Since it was just two of us, we opted for a booth. The place wasn't busy when we walked in, but by the time we left, it was standing room only.We started by ordering a couple glasses of Chardonnay, which they surprisingly brought us a sample of before pouring a full glass (this was the first indicator of the absolutely exceptional customer service they provide). From there, we began perusing the menu. However, with neither of us having ever had Nepalese food, we really didn't know what we were looking at. As such, we simply asked our server for a suggestion of 3 or 4 dishes we couldn't skip. She kindly suggested the Momo Steamed dumplings, the mutton and chicken skewers and the signature Bara dish, which is a lentil pancake served with a delicious spicy sauce.Food was brought out promptly and everything was absolutely delicious. The Momo were definitely my favorite. The dumplings were perfectly cooked and flavorful and the sauce went just right with them. The skewers were tasty and having never had mutton, I can say it was quite delicious. The lentil pancake was wonderful and came with a creamy spicy sauce. Everything they brought out totally hit the spot and contained flavors we weren't used to.The staff was absolutely amazing. Everyone in the building seemed to be taking care of every single table whether it was directly their section or not. As an example, one server walked over to note that our table seemed wobbly (we hadn't even noticed) and offered to level it for us. We probably interacted with 4 or 5 people in our time at Bara. All were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. When the check came, we were reluctant to leave, as we were enjoying it so much. The prices were absolutely excellent, particularly considering the quality of the product. We will definitely be making Bara a staple of our dining out.

My first time trying one of the many Nepali spots in the metroplex. The restaurant is spacious with a nice ambiance and sizable bar-though we didn't order anything but water. We were excited to venture in and enjoy some of the delicious menu, and hoped the staff would be able to recommend dishes for us to taste. We were encouraged to try the momo, mutton, chilly shrimp and chicken schwela. Since it was just to two of us we settled for the fried momo, mutton and chicken sticks, and chicken schwela. The momo were delicious: crisp on the outside but juicy and flavorful on the inside. They came with a dipping sauce that added another flavor and texture that was complimentary to the crunchy dumpling. Next we're the sticks: chicken was a little chewy, but the mutton was excellent! Perfectly grilled with a nice slice and fresh lemon squeezed on top. We were waiting patiently for the chicken schwela to come out of the kitchen when we spotted a very large cockroach roaming back and forth from the bar to the kitchen without any notice from the staff. Unfortunately we cashed out early and didn't wait around to try the next dish, as we were both anxiously watching the floor to make sure we didn't meet any other unwelcome guests for dinner. Over all the food is delicious but the special cockroach appearance ruined our meal.

Food:Pricey when compared to other Nepalese restaurants in the area. Food portion pretty small. We ordered Momo and it was overcooked and not juicy. Chicken Sekuwa that we ordered for appetizer was $ 3.99. What we got for that price was; 5 pieces of chicken in one skewer. The taste was okay but the price is outrageous. The Newari Platter (Samay Baji) was about $15. It comes with a variety of food but the portion size is small compared to the price. One must have item on Samay Baji is soybeans but ours did not have any.Service:Waitress wasn't too hospitable. When we asked for a paper menu instead of scanning the QR code, she had an attitude. Food took very long to come out of the kitchen. We waited for 45 minutes before our appetizer came and the entrees came about 1 hour 15 minutes after we had ordered.Ambience:Décor is nice, different and unique. We did see a person vaping next to our table inside the restaurant. The waitress saw it too but she did not say anything about it. Smoking indoors in public place should not be overlooked by the staff.Overall, pricey with mediocre service and we will not be visiting again.

I don't know much about Nepalese food and it was only out of curiousity we tried this place. I only remembered what i liked! The three plates at the bottom are the best we had. I would rate the 1st big plate to the left as the best, then the steamed dumplings on the right and then the beef skewers in the middle. Overall it was a nice experience. Food is a little similar to Indian and they love lentils. Waiting time is just fine. Place needs a little boost on the AC but oth than that it was good
