Baker's Drive In

Are you kidding me! For as long as we've lived in Alvin, we've been going to this "* Dive" and loved every minute of it.It's been an American original. Food is always love shakes fries. But something has changed under his new ownership. The front of the shop is messy with handwritten notes. They can't understand English so they hand you the menu to point at what you want. Very disappointing. These shops need to be run by somebody who is culturally aware of the significance. They play in the community. I cannot say the same for current ownership. PS if you own this shop and you want to sell it, let me know.

Yelp 100 - #20March 2023This was my first visit to Baker's Drive In and I wasn't impressed. I was torn between Whataburger and Baker's and ultimately chose Baker's. During my visit their fryer was not working , so I wasn't able to order the tater tots featured in their photos. However, I did order a Texas Double and a BLT. I'm happy I went with two options because their BLT was delicious. I enjoyed the toasted bread and the flavors were there. However, the Texas Double did not deliver. It was plain even with the mustard, mayo, pickles, etc. I ended up tossing the burger.

Poor customer service. "Very rude on the phone"Poorly trained. Food is disgusting. Wouldn't even buy their food if they had 1$ combos.

Next door getting a windshield replaced and this place was super convenient over the lunch hour. I ordered the Jefe Steak Finger basket. The food was hot, fresh and delish. The amount of fries was plentiful and I do appreciate being over fed vs under fed. The service was good. She was nice, sweet and professional. Also when my food was ready she flagged me over. If fried and fast food is your thing this is a good place. The food was tasty but was not unique or anything different than what you would expect.

My wife's burger was dry and my catfish was probably the worst I've ever had. Their shakes are delicious but expensive. Overall, would not recommend even though I had high hopes!

5 Stars for a run-down place open since 1954 you ask? Yes!I've been driving past this place for 40 years and its always looked the same. Like its 100 years old. I noticed the sign today said open since 1954. So, its older than me.I had already eaten lunch and was going to an appointment when I passed it. I thought I need to go there before it closes for good. I decided to stop on my way back, walk up to the window and determine if there was something I could get, without eating a whole meal. It was then I spotted a soft serve machine in the back, Perfect!So I ordered a cone she said $1 and I gave her a $2 bill for tip.She had never seen a 2 dollar bill which always brings a smileI left happy that I finally stopped after 40 years! Soft Serve was superb!What are you passing by that needs attention?Definite Go!

It's good to see that someone had a homestyle turkey burger on the menu in McKinney. After 5 years of hearing my co-workers talking about this place and never thinking they would have something I could eat....I thought I'd look over their menu. To my surprise, there was/is a turkey burger on the list of items. Shockingly, I decided to make the trip. I walked up and placed my order. Once I got my bag and made the trip back to the office, I got out of my car and noticed a very pleasant sighting....GREASE on my bag! This took me back to the days when I used to eat beef. Needless to say, I'm sure i looked like a little kid as I smiled, carrying my bag across the parking lot. Finally, I made it inside and sat down to eat my burger. Each bite was very good, and I ended up eating there 2 days in a row. Needless to say, I will be back again, and I'm also included in the group lunch trips to Baker's now!

Best burgers in McKinney by far! Not too many places, you can find around that still have fries tots, and onion rings , they also have Frito pies, chili, dogs, and fried ham sandwiches. Old school menu with old school vibes.

I've been eating here for a long time. Many years. Like since before the hipsters invaded McKinney and turned a small country town into pretentious suburbs. This has been my go to for a great burger, but the last several visits have been disappointing. Today, I had bad service, an incorrect order, and bad food. The lady running the cash register couldn't stop smacking her gum in my face long enough to listen to my order, which got screwed up. The only thing they got right was the drink. The burger was grossly overcooked. It was dried out and about whataburger quality. I ordered, and paid for, chili cheese fries and instead got lukewarm frozen crinklecuts without chili or cheese. I hope they remember who they are, where they came from, and the community that has supported them for decades and return to their old standards.

I'mThe Texas double Cheeseburger is still the best Cheeseburger in McKinney. I've been eating there for at least 50 years and they are still the best. Good service you walk up order they fix it you go get it. I give them 5 stars
