Babe's Chicken Dinner House

If you're craving good old-fashioned comfort food, you've struck gold! Whether it's fried chicken, catfish, or chicken fried steak, this place has it all. Sure, there might be a wait in line, but it's absolutely worth it. Gather your family or friends and head over for a feast you won't forget!

Friendly and entertaining service. Eclectic but kitschy decor. Ok food. In Frisco--down past the train museum, around the corner from Kelly Clarkson street (I added the Kelly part), and 126 years ago--sits a folksy chicken restaurant called Babe's. I visited with my elderly parents who think of Babe's like a favorite old chair... e.g. "It's absolutely perfect". (I tend to think of Babe's more like an old shoe; comfortable, but out of style).If kitschy Texas signs, line-dancing waiters, and canned YMCA music is your thing, you have found a home. They serve both kinds of food, "Fried Chickens" and "Chicken-Fried Steaks". DON'T ask about side dishes because that is the same for every order and served family style; Mash potatoes, green beans, biscuits, cream corn, and salad. My parents LOVED the salad. (I recognized it as a zero-frills tossed iceberg salad with a simple oil and vinegar dressing). Everything was fine. Greasy chicken and CFS w/ cream gravy. It was super ok. Almost satisfactory even. But I found the whole experience kinda tired, from the stuffed chicken taxidermy (which was everywhere) to the fake "Texas Secede" road sign. If that style is your ballpark, well... "Play ball!" And head over to Babe's!

The chicken was yummy, the biscuits were perfect! And I loooved the mashed potatoes. We got country fried steak, fried chicken and chicken strips. Everything was good. Everyone has to order a meat and the sides keep coming. The inside was quirky and cute and we got really good service. The table is also served with what seems like a boring salad, but actually is really good. The dressing is perfect. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is bc my tummy hurt afterwards.

Delicious Fried Chicken with all sides that come with it. We came in late, so chicken temperature needs adjustment. Thanks to manager gave us complementary for 1 order. Excellent services. Recommended to come early, even if the wait time is too long, still worth nice atmosphere inside.

Food was very good and the atmosphere was great the waiters was great . Did not know about the way they take to go food home . But it was pretty good for my dad's dinner . Surprising there was no alcohol on menu either .

Always consistent and excellent food and service - a must stop at one of the many DFW locations! We've been eating here for years and recommend the chicken friend steak or the fried chicken - you cannot go wrong!

This is a local love for many! The location is great in a historical spot with good parking. Service is exceptional. Food is salty. Everything has a similar taste from high salt. The chicken is good for sure. And the biscuits. All the sides are served family style. The 'salad' is a bowl of wet lettuce. I don't know why they bother. The potatoes are good, the corn is laden with sugar, and the beans are also well seasoned. It is too bad. These lovely vegetables are delicious without all the additives. It detracts from the potential of the meal. I think Babe's is worth a visit, and bring your family when they come to visit. But the salt content is too unhealthy for regular consumption.

Tried Babe's at the recommendation of multiple people. I wasn't impressed at all. I ordered the fried chicken , and unfortunately, it was a huge letdown. For the price, I expected something unique or high-quality, but what I got was four pieces, overly salty fried chicken that was a bit too greasy for my taste . To make matters worse, the sides seemed canned--there was nothing fresh or homemade about them, which only added to the disappointment.Additionally, they have some frustrating takeout restrictions, which made the whole experience even less enjoyable. For the premium they're charging, I expected a much better meal and more flexibility. Overall, the food was overpriced, uninspired, and left me feeling like I didn't get anywhere near my money's worth.

Some of the best fried chicken around! Delicious and leaves you wanting more. Can get a bit pricey as sides are ala carte.

I've had this place on my list for a while, and I'm so glad I finally tried it! After a night out with friends, I was craving a home-cooked meal with lots of flavor, and this spot didn't disappoint. I ordered over the phone, and I loved how they separated all my sides to keep everything fresh when I got home. The portions were huge--one entrée could easily feed two people! I went with the smoked chicken, and it was packed with flavor. The only thing I didn't care for was the gravy, but everything else was amazing. If you're looking for a delicious, home-style meal, this is definitely the place to go! I'll be back for sure.
