It took them forever to serve us...and the food was blend, not like we remembered last year

Throwback, cozy atmosphere and reasonable prices. Memorial Day and most local Italian restaurants were closed so we gave Alfonso's a try. We had our granddaughter and her 13 yo giggling bestie and they wanted pizza. My GD didn't care for her Cheese side (she doesn't really like pizza) but her friend did. Unfortunately, she did not like the sausage & Green Peppers side she ordered. Not Gluten Free so I can only say the cheese was browned well. Hubs ordered the chicken franchese and it was more breading than chicken in a butter garlic sauce versus the dish itself name bears of lemon and butter. I ordered the Gluten Free Penne prepared GF in the Alla Panna sauce. The dish should have been GF without requiring instructions but sadly it wasn't and I'm still having symptoms from it. Other than making me ill, it was also tasteless. Sadly, we won't be returning.

We had a nice dinner here recently. The waitstaff is friendly. They have a nice bar area separated from the spacious dining room. They accommodated our daughter with a high chair. The kids ravioli was great. The chicken piccata had good flavor. It came with a side of spaghetti with red sauce, which did not go all that well with the piccata lemon sauce. The piccata also had a little too much garlic flavor for my wife. The pepperoni pizza was great. The 12-inch was enough to bring some home. Great local business so check them out.

Best artichokes and crab claws in Dallas! Also best rolls! Drive from Frisco is worth it.

Others have described Alfonso's as mediocre and inconsistent and I would agree. It definitely feels like whoever owns this place is not really managing it closely - based on my experience with the servers.The ambience feels somewhat cozy but dated, though it was always clean. My wife likes the food, but I consistently came away disappointed with my meals (pastas, pizza) especially for the price. It tastes to me like food that you would get at a dinner banquet at a hotel or wedding.That combined with the inconsistent service makes us a big "pass" for me. I do wish it was better though as I live very close, but I would rather spend the same money elsewhere. There are too many good places in Dallas.

Another wonderful lunch at Alfonso's. I've been coming here with the family for years and it has always been a treat. Today I had chicken piccata with a side of pasta and the best garlic rolls in the world. Service is always great and the atmosphere is relaxing and laid-back.

Ordered a pizza and repeated several times that there was someone with a serious mushroom allergy and NO MUSHROOMS. The young lady repeated that to me.Got the pizza covered in mushrooms. Called and the young woman said she was sorry...she checked it before we picked it up and she didn't see the mushrooms.Asked the manager or owner to call and he never did. This was our first visit after not going there for several years due to poor service and mediocre food. Seems like nothing has changed. WILL NOT GO BACK.

First, it took about 10 min for anyone to come to our table. Then, on the menu, they offer fettuccine Alfredo but with no chicken. If you want chicken, it costs $6 more, bringing the price of that meal to well over $20! Alfredo sauce was watery as was the ranch dressing. Food came out pretty quickly and it was hot and fairly tasty. We still wish we would have had chicken. . .

Food is excellent. There salmon is wild caught and what they do with red fish is the best in Dallas. I am spoiled by their small, thin crust pizza, I get hamburger, pepperoni and onions. Try It! Ingredients are fresh. "Tip," is the head waitress and manager and is the is the best and other servers are always pleasant and efficient.It has an old school, family atmosphere. I've been eating there off & on over 25 years.
