A Step Up Lounge

A dive bar, but a good one. The place permanently smells like smoke. There's lifelong alcoholics at the bar. The bartender has more attitude than she should based on her looks.

The drinks HIT!!!! Great smokers patio in the back. Cool balcony upstairs when you're feeling selectively social. Twice a month DJ Rob M spins and brings ALL the jams! Great pool tables, we absolutely love this place so much.

Came to see Jason Elmore, who was excellent, but we were also able to watch all our sports and drink our delicious drinks served by a really lovely woman. We had a great time and will be back!

I seen a review that this place has a tournament every Sunday, it's true. BUTTT don't expect the tables to be all that great they're just dynamo tables with worn down felt on top of all that the tables are noticeably uneven. The tournament rules are BAR RULES: * CALL SHOTS (NOT POCKET) * BEHIND THE LINE ON SCRATCHES* 8 HAS TO GO IN CLEAN * ONE RACK PER SET WINNER ADVANCESThe place definitely has a funk to it when you walk in and it's very unpleasing. The bathrooms are dirty, I believe the entire place needs to be remodeled. I know it isn't a pool hall but damn is this place gotta be the most ran down spot I've been to in a while.Now if you're going to enjoy some drinks and catch up with friends/family and possibly wanting to slam balls into the ball then this place could possibly be for you to enjoy.

Had a fun time listening to a great band and inbibing in quality, well-priced cocktails. Very mixed crowd, mostly people in their 30's to 70's and everyone jiving to the music.

I've been there a few times. Very nice cool cause the neighborhood bar. Just make sure to order your drinks before you run out of the one in your hand.

My daughter and I stopped in last night on a whim. We are so glad we did! We even did a U-turn to get here haha! Friday night, post dinner drinks. We were welcomed like we were family. Everyone noticed we were not regulars. People were super friendly and chatty towards us. The place was very busy with regulars and It was if our having fun and feeling welcomed was their mission for the night. Lovely, fun, nice, not grab assy, and very respectful people. It's definitely a neighborhood hangout - people from all walks of life come to this 'dive bar' (I really didn't think it as a dive - but that's what they said Dallas Magazine calls it). To me it is a cozy, friendly neighborhood bar. The service was wonderful. There's a patio out back for smokers. There's a heater out there which kept a lot of smokers warm on a cold night. Downstairs there is a pool table, there are live bands a couple nights a week, a second floor which also has a pool table and seating areas. Small dance floor in front of the band. Midnight Rodeo played and they were really good, playing old and new country. The fiddle player did a rendition of Orange Blossom Special which was fantastic! A Step Up carries Seagram's V.O. - my favorite! I was sorry I wasn't going to be back the next day for their 25th Birthday Party.I will be back when I'm in town! Thanks for a super fun evening!

I spent 3 months in Dallas and by chance walked into A Step up Lounge. This is one of the best places you ever want to try out. It's so diverse yet all the people there have this pride in the bar that all are so good to each other. It's a neighborhood bar that been around for decades. The bartenders are so cool. I only have 3 pictured but there's a Queen B who keeps them all rolling along with the king of cool vests Joe is the coolest guy. I met some good people...from Ceaser, to Scott to a veteran lawyer who gave me the best advice for an interview...which I won as Sr VP. There a lady who sits out back...Allison...one of the nicest people I ever met. Sweet bartender girl with tats all over her and seems intimidating but she's sweet sweet. Another bartender girl, forgot her name, but her and her big burly bearded boyfriend....i love them. She seems angry, but she just doesn't take shit and is a strong character, but such a sweetheart. My other buddy was a little bee for Halloween and her sweet boyfriend a bee keeper.....so cool...she's got such a sweet heart.All these people are so sweet. I'll miss them. I want to say to all that I left suddenly but I'll not forget you...you made Dallas awesome for the Greek guy from Nola. I'll miss seeing Tony in the bar. All of you!!! Much love and see you again. Stopped in for a bit on a hot day and absolutely loved it! Definitely a dive bar feel which is a 100% compliment. Great prices on the drinks and ambiance was phenomenal!!
