589 Hickory BBQ

So glad there's another good BBQ joint in the area! The meats are great, sides are good, and ambience is good ol' TX barbecue joint ... no pretense here. The folks behind the counter are super friendly and service is quick.We haven't spent time out on the patio listening to live music, yet, but that is on our to-do list.

Omg we selected 589 for our annual Super Bowl Party! We ordered for 50 people and paid in cash. Guess what?We drive over to pick up our order and the owner looked at us dazed and confused! No order! "Well you were to pick that up yesterday!" Nope! "Well you paid cash?" Omg can this get any worse! Riscky's B-B-Q Fort Worth saved the day! We are headed there now!Quite certain 589 served our B-B-Q to the many people in line yesterday and today. That just isn't fair to put us at last minute in a frenzy! We are serving many people and will make certain each one knows this story! Thank God our beef menu will be handled by Riscky's! Just don't do it! 589 was helpless in offering anything to resolve their complete mess up!

My wife and I stopped in at 589 Hickory BBQ for dinner, and it was a bit of a mixed experience. The place is a typical steel-building BBQ spot--nothing fancy, but it seemed clean, which is always a plus. One thing that stood out was that they have a bar, which is a nice addition since many BBQ places around here don't.As expected, it's a walk-up-to-order setup, but what caught me off guard was the menu structure. They don't offer the usual 1, 2, or 3-meat plates you find at most BBQ spots. Instead, you order meats by weight and then sides à la carte. They do offer a child's plate (1 meat and 1 side) and a senior plate (1 meat and 2 sides if I recall correctly), but nothing for people who want a combo of different meats with sides to eat in. Not wanting to mess with figuring out weights and such, we both opted for the BBQ potato.The brisket on the potato was very good--tender and flavorful. However, I wasn't a fan of the BBQ sauce on the table; it tasted more like ketchup to me. Later, we overheard someone mention they had a spicy sauce option, but by that point, we were nearly done.All in all, while the food quality was good, the menu structure and sauce left me a bit underwhelmed. I probably wouldn't go back to dine in, but I'd consider them if I needed to pick up some brisket or other meats for a small gathering. The brisket itself was solid enough to earn them another shot in a different setting.

Busy place! The food was delicious and the service was great. The staff was friendly and helpful as we talk through the options. The dining area seating is picnic tables and felt a bit cramped due to the amount of people eating. There is covered outside seating which is where we sat. There was live music playing which was fun but a bit loud for our old ears. We will definitely eat here again. We enjoyed all of the items we ordered. It was a lot of food, two of us shared everything and we had left overs for the next day.

We loved this place! Ordered a huge platter and ate on it for 3 days! The indoor is casual and the outdoor they have tables and music! Food was excellent and toppings & sauces were on point!Will be back!!

Everything we have eaten here has been great. Bbq...turkey...sausage...gumbo, etc....

Tried 589 for the first time this weekend and we were impressed! When we try a new bbq joint, we always order the big three, brisket, ribs, and sausage(jalapeño/cheddar). They nailed all three! Brisket was super moist and tender with the perfect amount of smoke and pepper. Ribs were tender, with just the right amount of smoke, and just a hint of sweetness. Jalapeño/cheddar sausage was very flavorful with just a little heat. Had the green chile hominy and the potato salad and both were very good. Cool little place with plenty of seating inside in the a/c, and a great outside seating area when it's not 105 in August. Good service with a friendly staff. This will be our go to bbq joint moving forward, both for sit down and takeout. It's definitely worth the drive from Aledo. Keep doing what you're doing 589!!!

My wife & I drove by this place on the way to Polo Mexican Cafe in Weatherford (Highly Recommended) & said we need to try that place.Well,we just left there & here is my take.Brisket, Ribs & Jalapeño sausage were a solid 8 & my Hominy & Collard greens were a 9 but the potato salad DEFINITELY needs help... it looked liked skin on masked potatoes with a little vinegar and a little onion... Meh.We finished with the Blackberry cobbler & ice cream & it was a 9!Overall, the the experience was very good & I would recommend giving 589 a try... we will be back!

Best BBQ in town, love the atmosphere. The people (service) are the best. Great place for drinks too, and dog friendly.

The BBQ here is very good. I'm not a huge fan of the sides. The last time we went here they stopped carrying Mac and cheese because of the price of cheese? I've never been to a bbq place without Mac and cheese. The service is always very friendly. As far as ambiance , it's a typical family style, very bright in there and you sit at long tables. We usually take our food to go.
