"A modern bakery with Southern sensibility", D'Andrews Bakery is a beloved local favorite and James Beard semifinalist in the category of Outstanding Bakery. The place is charming yet unassuming; simply decorated, plenty of seating, nearly arranged display cases. I stopped in on a recent visit to Nashville, and made 5 selections based on staff recommendations. Every single item was exceptional. My favorite was the Jack Daniels Brownie, which had a caramelized, brown butter flavor and a subtle whisky cream on top. "The Donut", a brioche, sugar-dusted malasada filled with Tahitian vanilla bean cream, was a close second. The Oatmeal Cherry Cookie was an unexpected delight. The Pain Au Chocolat was lovely, but do get it warmed up. I also enjoyed the "Daisy", a beautiful dessert featuring a Tennessee Mountain Sourwood Honey and Yogurt Creme, artfully placed atop a butter biscuit. An absolute must try in Nashville.

D'Andrews Bakery & Cafe, owned by the highly experienced Chef David, who honed his baking skills in New York, is a charming petite café nestled on Church St, running parallel to Broadway. The location is convenient with several paid parking options nearby; the Nashville Public Library garage is likely the closest for a quick walk. The café boasts ample seating both indoors and outdoors, creating a cozy yet vibrant atmosphere. They offer an impressive range of bakes and French pastries, alongside their coffee selection. A delightful highlight is their weekly unique-flavored macaron, which keeps regulars coming back for more. I visited on a Sunday morning, and while the place was bustling with patrons, it wasn't overly crowded, making it easy to find a table and enjoy the ambiance. The staff at D'Andrews is welcoming and efficient, ensuring a swift service despite the steady flow of customers. For my breakfast treat, I indulged in a Pain au Chocolat, an Almond Croissant, a Ham and Cheese Croissant, and a Dark Chocolate Dulcey Cookie.Visually, the croissants had a rustic charm, though they lacked the glossy finish one might expect. However, they more than made up for it in flavor. The Pain au Chocolat was generously filled with dark chocolate that would ooze decadently when reheated. The Almond Croissant, with its frangipane center, offered a perfect balance of nuttiness and sweetness, making each bite utterly satisfying. The Ham and Cheese Croissant was equally delightful, with a generous filling of cheese that paired wonderfully with the flaky pastry.Surprisingly, the standout for me was the Dark Chocolate Dulcey Cookie. Gluten-free and lightly dusted with sugar, it was a rich, bittersweet delight. The chunks of caramelized white chocolate added a luxurious touch, making it the perfect treat for chocolate lovers.Overall, my experience at D'Andrews Bakery & Cafe was thoroughly enjoyable. Chef David's expertise, cultivated in the heart of New York's vibrant baking scene, truly shines through in every bite. It's a must-visit spot for anyone looking to indulge in quality pastries and a warm, inviting atmosphere.

Went here twice. If you're traveling through and need a breakfast that has solid (really the best actually) iced lattes - this is your place. The ham and cheese croissant was delicious. The raspberry pop tarts too. Home made and better than the real thing. Ambiance was clean.

Fabulous breakfast/lunch food and donuts in an adorable cafe, located just two blocks north of Broadway. Even though you will walk in and see the spectacular desserts, we would absolutely recommend that you remember the sandwiches. The bacon-egg sandwich and the chicken avocado sandwich are large and delicious. Then, order "The Donut." Depending on how you like your donut, this may be the perfect one. The waitstaff was friendly. Plenty of seating. Great experience - definitely put D'Andrews on your list of places to try in Nashville.

Cute little bakery and coffee place I had been meaning to check out for a while. Felt like a little bit of Paris in Nashville. Service was friendly and fast. Lots of seating. Extensive menu with all prices clearly spelled out. Iced coffee is delicious! The pain au chocolate was tasty but lacked the pretty sheen I am used to seeing when you brush it with egg wash. and it seemed drier than others I have had at other places like the Buttermilk Ranch Cafe. But they seem to have a good pastry selection as well as soups and sandwiches, so I would be willing to try other things. Got a few pastries for the boys to taste test at home. Parked at the library parking garage which is a good deal and short walk up the hill.Update -- just took a bite of each of the pastries before my kids got home and demolished them.. Literally some of the best pastries I've ever had in my life. The carrot cake had great spice and that strawberry pastry tasted like summer. Get it. NOW.

Visited July 22, 2024.D'Andrews is located downtown near the library. I forgot to ask if they validated parking but there is a parking garage in the rear of the building and some street parking. I opted for street parking for $2.25/hr. It was a short 3 minute walk uphill. No complaints on food or service quality. Both were excellent. Of the few items I purchased, the Strawberry Chouquette and the Pecan Cinnamon Roll were my favorite! Half of the options were already out, which was a bummer, but I hopefully I'll snag them next time!Few things can be improved with signs like where to order or a sign like 'line starts here'. I came during lunch and there appeared to be line but it was due to waiting for drink orders. I didn't realize at first and was not sure if I skipped anyone but went to the register to order after a few minutes of standing. As drinks completed I believe names were being called out at the side counter by the door.Interior has a fair amount of first come first seated basis along with a couple exterior seating. Decor is filled with light colors and live plants.

D'Andrews Bakery is a great upscale bakery to gab a quick bite to eat downtown. We got a few pastries. Mt favorites were the almond croissant and chocolate chunk cookie. I wanted to try a macaron but they were sold out by noon midday on a weekday. Will have to go back! Definitely reminded me of a place you would in Paris or NYC! Worth a try!

Coffee shop bakery (beautiful desserts), and sandwiches on Church Street. Inside seating, plus sidewalk seating. Services fast. Front door needs to be repaired. Slams shut hard each time it's opened.

Hands down incredible. It reminded me of a cross somewhere between Ken's Artisan Bread in Portland (excellent pastry and housemade breads) and a NYC bakery (artisan espresso and a line out the door). We went for breakfast on a Sunday and had a great experience. Even for a holiday weekend we quickly were able to get inside and the line moved at a decent pace. It seemed like maybe half the patrons were getting take out so finding a seat in this relatively small space wasn't an issue. The brisket breakfast sandwich is hearty and savory, but with pickled veg that takes it almost to banh mi territory. Get it with the egg over medium for a sloppy, dreamy experience. The coffee was excellent. They rotate through different beans which are noted on the board. I liked my cappucino so much I jotted down the current espresso in order to look it up later!Hands down the winner here though is the s'mores croissant. Start with an already amazing croissant. Slice it in half and fill it with a dark chocolate pastry cream. Top it with marshmallow, and torch it up. Absolutely incredible execution that ends up delivering a rich but not too sweet perfect pastry experience.

It's Labor Day they were open. I greeted the staff with "Yay, y'all are open, but you have to work" Staff's response, "It's okay bc it's such a great place to work!" And I could tell she meant it.I worry about places like this, a place might not be as popular/visible as other places in the same category, but mass-produced, but is built on QUALITY. D'Andrews more than exceeded by expectations! We had two different breakfast sandwiches, that were made to order...hot, fresh and truly the BEST breakfast sandwiches. That bread on the breakfast sandwich!! You can hear a sound when you tap on top. It had a lovely bottom that was also sturdy so that it didn't get soggy, nothing bled thru by the end of the sandwich...mayo made in-house. Well-seasoned. I don't know what kind of chicken sausage they used, but HOLY!The coffee was SMOOTH, no bitterness. And with a house-made nutty vanilla syrup, it was perfection. Seriously. I haven't yet sampled the baked goods, but undoubtably they will be great. I'll ALWAYS come here when I'm in Nashville and will encourage others to do the same. SO SO GOOD!
