they were my favorite place and we were extremely loyal, never venturing to eat any other donut and coming at least once a week for fresh delicious donuts. but they have closed their doors, I heard the landlord bought them out. I am so sad and we haven't had a donut since. we miss you!!

Im such fan of this old school donut shop . The donuts are very fresh and very delicious. You're not going to find unique and overpriced Donuts here . However, you will find classic donuts you grew up eating that are above average in quality and in taste . Their apple fritter is without a doubt one of the best I've ever eaten . What makes theirs standout is they are generous with apple . I think they make the perfect apple fritter . Im also a big fan of the staff . They're so sweet and funny . I enjoy seeing them .

"Ok Taste, But Not Much Variety"I went to the Country Donut shop in Lakeside today and was a little disappointed. I had seen a lot of the YELP reviews which are pretty good, but when I walked into the shop they had very little variety of donuts and there were a lot of flies flying around all over the inside of the shop. There prices also seemed a little on the high side. The shop was not very impressive at all.

The owners are friendly and remember you and your donut preference even if you haven't been in a while. The donuts are some of the best in east county, sorry Mary's but have been enjoying these for 15plus years. If you want to enjoy a great donut and help a small mom and pop kinda place you can't get any better than Country Donuts in Lakeside!

Country Donuts are simply the BEST I've ever had. I've lived here in SD since 1984, back then my favorite was Mary's Donuts. Country Donuts has captured perfection. And the service is such a pleasure! Their donuts taste so fresh, leaving you craving the next bite. And the freshness lasts longer than a week!! That's unheard of to enjoy a soft donut a week later. The fruit fill donuts and pastries are filled, full, fresh and absolutely delicious!! Such a comfortable place to sit down and enjoy the company of all the old timers telling their cool stories. The original Marlboro Man was a regular there. Definitely a very cool place to check out. Take a few extra donuts home to check out my freshness story

I've been going to this Country Donuts every single week day since the 90's. This fa.ily run store has been overseen by the father, the mother, and now the daughter May. It's quality had always been top-notch. The Donuts are fresh and light and sold at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend a visit to this Lakeside icon. If there is a complaint, it would be I wished they would be open on Mondays.

The people who own this shop are extremely nice people. They always give me like 16 donuts when I buy a dozen. Their donuts are also the best tasting. They are MUCH better than Mary's donuts. I tried it because I saw the reviews and they were not wrong. A buttermilk donut was larger and more delicious than the ones I had at Mary's (more moist on the inside and the icing just tasted better). So I tested the customer service because I read they had poor customer service and asked if they would be willing to make me a blueberry apple fritter. They said they don't make that kind of donut but if I gave them a day they would be happy to make it (I guess certain donuts just don't sell enough to be worth it). Anyway so I went back the next Sunday and the blueberry apple fritter was probably the best donut of my entire life.I looked for flies and I couldn't find any. This is an old shop so it doesn't look slick and new. They don't shove poptarts in their donuts or have crazy donuts. This is a donut shop that has gone under the radar for a long time and I think it deserves some attention. Just try a dozen for friends or family and see what you think. Judge their donuts not their old looking donut shop.
