Overly priced drinks but always a fun time at the pool and the pool food is soooo good

The reason this place has bad reviews is because a vodka soda is $20 and every single table says "reserved" despite the fact that the lounge itself is completely empty

This came up on a Yelp search for bars/lounges so decided to check it out. First off The W hotels have a cool vibe and the lounge fit in very well with the vibe. It is located on the second floor, just up the stairs from the lobby. It is dimly lit and filled with pictures/decor of rabbits (lives up to it's name). The bar area is nice and large and there are other tables and couch areas as well as the pool area. Service at the bar was not quick, instead quite the opposite where we had to flag down a bartender who was chatting with someone else who worked there for a while and was also occupied with his phone at other times. I also was quite surprised to see that cocktails were $20! I know it's the W but that is pretty pricey. Also note that this is considered the pool area so the drinks are served in plastic cups. Aside from that, I like the space and atmosphere and had a nice time sitting in one of the couch areas which I assume are the VIP areas during pool hours.

If you've ever walked by the W on a Friday or Saturday afternoon or evening you've no doubt heard the pulsing club music and thought, "Where's THAT coming from?" Meet Cottontail on the second floor of the W.Cottontail is where you would have access to the various bars and pool area. Frankly, the views aren't amazing but the W knows how to create ambiance. It's fun and carefree. When it's busy, there is no better place for people watching. You find a mix of tourists and locals doing staycations here. When Cottontail puts on special events, they're masterfully executed. This is a classier (albeit more pricey) option that the nightclubs around the corner. You get what you pay for!Other Yelpers have written that you need to have reservations to get in. I'm not sure and it would be worth checking during busier periods when they'll want to cater to in-house guests. Besides being a bar, Cottontail is also a restaurant and they serve brunch.Being the W, drinks are expertly mixed. From glasses of prosecco to negroni's, you are going to have quality. Honestly, it's fairly priced for the environment.I have visited many W's around the world (the rooftop in Shanghai inspires awe!). Sometimes the staff can be a bit uppity. I was worried that a similar vibe might be present here. Nope! Just the opposite. The staff is friendly and pleasant. Some have even remembered me from past visits! This was a really pleasant surprise.Only one issue cropped up from a recent visit and I can't even say that it is the hotel's fault but beware. We started a tab and cashed out at the end of the night. The next morning there was a hold on our credit card for triple the amount. I went back to speak to the manager who shrugged and said it was normal and that the hold would come off four days later...which it did. Not sure if this was caused by the bank or the hotel but it wasn't the most happy of surprises. Pro tip: don't open a tab and close out each round! All in all, Cottontail is worth visiting at least once. The energy on the deck is great and something you won't forget!

My close friend from home was in town for a conference, and I was excited to show him the nicest place in town. So I took him here, showed him the place, and bought him a drink. Food poisoning: I'm almost sure my close friend got food poisoning here as we had exactly the same food and drink the entire night (I was DD) and the only difference was his drink, the gin martini with the olives, so we narrowed it down to that, especially the olives (yes, it is possible for olives to go bad. I didn't think so either until I looked it up, which caused more concern). We should have been suspicious when they said they didn't have any martini glasses and it took a long time for them to make the drink. It also came out in a small plastic cup which felt off. I didn't realize how bad it was until I met back up with him later the next day. Even as I was making the phone call to try to report this to a manager here, he was still vomiting. His symptoms were even worse earlier in the day causing him to have to leave the conference early on. I was able to reach someone in security on the hotel side, who then followed up with an email including management on the bar/lounge side (separate companies). They asked for details, copy of the receipt, etc. and I provided all that promptly. I expected prompt attention to be paid to this and for adjustments to be made at the very least. Sadly, I didn't even hear back from anyone on the bar/lounge side. I followed up multiple times over the course of multiple weeks to the point that I gave up, and it has now been over a month. I much prefer giving credit where it is due, but in this case I felt obligated to share this experience. It really did ruin my friend's special visit from the east coast to hang with me here. I informed the staff as soon as I could in the hopes that this would prevent anyone from going through the same thing, and I'm publishing this review for the same reason.

My girlfriends & I stayed at the W & made a resy for dinner here on a Thursday night. It is a gorgeous lounge next to the pool. We heard the lounge was the place to be but when we came, it was empty.... We had the entire place to ourselves. We were also looking to have dinner but it was mainly apps so we just left.

I would give it 0 stars! Literally get better service at McDonalds! Don't be fooled. The place looks nice and has an expensive menu but it all is absolute shit! Cocktail is $17 and they bring it to you in a plastic cup. Can't even get silverware...also plastic ware. Awful service too. Never knew who our server was because we were always trying to find someone just to get help. Never were given water, took ages for the food and drinks to come out and the food was disgusting. Management was awful and when trying to speak to the manager he wasn't helpful in anyway. This is my first time leaving a yelp review but I've never had such horrible service that I had to make this my first place to review. Do not waste your time with this place!

While it's a great location and wearing a jockstrap the decor is nice, the service is terrible! We asked for a server they said they'd be right here. They never came. We asked a girl in her bikini and she says I don't serve this area. She said will check with the bartender. No one ever came over. I ended up going up to the bar to order myself... took forever. Time for management to train their employees.

Best place in Scottsdale by far. Great people, great drinks, and the landscape is beautiful.
