It's rare to find a Mexican restaurant with a salsa bar still so that's a plus. However, if you like a kick make sure to ask for the their habanero salsa that they have in the back.

Cotixan Mexican & Seafood on Greyling Drive is incredible. I drive from Mira Mesa, past an untold number of other Mexican restaurants to eat here. I visit at least 3-4 times a week if not more. They have amazing burritos, tacos, seafood and great combination plates. However, the BEST thing on the menu is the CHILAQUILES! However I must admit that the Chilaquiles taste completely different depending on the cook. It seems like the morning cooks just cut the tortillas into pieces and toss them on the grill with the eggs and whichever sauce you request. During the dinner hour the cooks drop the tortillas pieces into the fryer for a few seconds. This changes the complete taste of the dish. It brings out the corn flavor and makes the dish SO MUCH BETTER.They have a self serve salsa bar. The red salsa is the BOMB. They offer indoor and outdoor dining. The staff is very friendly, courteous and attentive. The prices are reasonable given the quantity and quality of food you receive. Try them out. You won't be disappointed.

Ordered a California Burrito to-go. I took a few bites only to realize that there were potatoes instead of fries and the potatoes were not fully cooked. I ended up picking them out. Salsas were only okay. The meat in the burrito was good, but overall it was a disappointing experience. I'm local to the area, so I may try this place again - hoping for a better experience next time.

I eat here about once a week, I wanted to add another 5 stars for my last order. I ordered the #4 Combo that is two beef tacos with rice and beans. Sorry No Photo, I ate the tacos first because they were hot, delicious and juicy! I did add some of the house Red Sauce. The tacos were Crunchy! Lots of juicy meat in each taco. Needed the napkins they put in my bag. New lady working the front, she was friendly and helpful. The tables were clean and plenty available both inside and outside. They always have an action movie going on if you want to watch while eating. It's very casual and welcoming.

I did come crunching on a breakfast burrito at this Cotixan. I had the bacon, eggs, cheese, and potatoes breakfast burrito, also known as the "Lunch" burrito for some strange reason. I can't put my finger on that yet.Anyways, the burrito was good and the bacon offered good texture and flavor. The burrito did need more cheese and the eggs were well prepared. I was not please with the size of the potatoes. They were way to large for a burrito and needed to be sliced down to bite size pieces. When I bite into a breakfast burrito, I do not want a mouthful of potato, but rather of all the ingredients in unison. The young man who took my order was friendly enough, but a little more enthusiasm is always good.

Can take out be disgusting? Can it be so bad that the sight of it makes you wince and want to throw up? Can a taco shop be sooo bad that it insulting to even think that people refer to it as Mexican food? The answer to all of these dankly dissatisfying and disastrous collection of menu mishaps is the kind of fare that makes slop seem as it were prepared by an Iron Chef in comparison. The name of this gutbusting foodplace is Cotixam Serra Mesa. O have lived and eaten in San Diego for 40 years and i have come across 3 restaurants which I have regarded as places that should shutter ASAP less their lack of any ounce of cooking skill might put anyone in the hospital. This place ranks as the sexond worse Ive ever been to in over 40 years. Over the course of a month i tried a multitude of djshes whivh caused my stomach to churn.The bean burritos used canned beans where yhe cook seemed to believe the raste of aliminum should somehow be accentuated. The second was a carne asada. You would think that This burrito could not be ruined but you would be wrong. Third would be chile verde. The meat (if it can be can be called meat.) It appeared to have been a cooked over and over again over a month's time. All of a all i cant give one single good thing to say about this place. quite frankly I don't think it should ever have existed. Who cam i contact to give this place a negative star rating.

Your average neighborhood taco shop that are numerous in SD. Nothing to standout about this place other than the above average prices for this type of food. Expect to pay easily 20% more than comparable places. Had the rolled tacos this trip was ok but not worth the $7 price tag. Top that off with a surcharge for using debit card. Only good is service is quick. Hard pass for coming back again

Two words: Lunch Burrito. I have been the biggest fan of this place for about 10 years. The staff is ALWAYS so nice and the food comes out fast. Tip-swap the potatoes for French fries. I also ask for extra bacon-extra crispy. Is it cheap...NOPE, but it is SO big it takes me all day to eat. I don't live close or eat fast food often. I could go to my local place, but it's never as good. Also, get the red AND green salsa. Another review mentioned the atmosphere...who cares! I've eaten in and taken to go...this place is under rated. It's not fancy, but the best taco shops never are.
