This Cotijas is great - friendly staff, great and consistent food, and Omar (the amazing manager of the Tierrasanta location) saved our butts with a next day catering order since our other catering order was cancelled by another establishment the DAY before our event!In our past catering order experience with Cotijas, the food was delivered on time, the servings were plentiful and everything was delicious! Beyond the usual food (carne asada, al pastor, pollo asado, rice, beans, salsas, chips, guac), it even included a tray of hot carrots, roasted peppers, roasted garlic and other goodness. Everyone was happy and we got to give our guests to-go boxes, too :)THANK YOU COTIJAS!

Really fantastic Taco Tuesday options here - adobada for the win! Their salsa bar is always well-stocked and clean. I appreciate that they have complimentary pickled red onions with jalapenos, some of my fave toppers! Service is friendly, and the food is quick, fresh, and inexpensive. This is a ten-minute walk from my house, which makes me justify adding an extra taco since I got all those extra steps ;)

Went in for their Taco Tuesday special. Got 4 mini tacos and a medium horchata for about $13. They weren't mini. Plenty of protein and really good flavor. If you dine in they offer chips and salsa while you wait. The cashier was very friendly! If tacos aren't what your craving they have a ton of other choices. Plus they have churros, flan, and tres leches if you're looking for something sweet! Go check them out.

We use to live near this spot and frequented it. Sadly not on door dash. Fast friendly service. Food always hot and muy delicioso! Love their fish taco plate. It was my go to. Salsa bar is key and can get as many flavors as you want. My husband would always get their carne asada burrito. Another favorite is their breakfast burrito. Never had a bad experience here. Yum! We would always pick it up and take home so can't speak to the ambiance but felt clean and comfortable. Always busy.

My husband loves this little taco shop! So does my kiddo. They love the tacos! I ordered menudo for the new year, it was good, I just wish it came made with hominy. They have desserts, we enjoyed our cinnamon sticks! We will be back!

On a trip to AutoZone one afternoon I noticed this taco shop in the strip mall and decided to check it out. It has become one of my preferred Mexican food close to work for me! They have daily specials that are discounted and well worth the price. Quality has been really consistent which can be hard to find at many taco shops. Or, some things are great and other items not so much is a common theme. Here, every single thing I have ordered has been above average and you can't beat the killer self-serve salsa bar. When you dine in, you are also offered chips and salsa! This is pretty much impossible to find anywhere besides a sit-down restaurant with menus and waitresses. Only one time I had a slight disappointment. I had ordered the cheese enchiladas plate and the cheese inside was barely melted and lukewarm. This actually has happened to me at other places before. You have to microwave them for just a few seconds or, place in the oven for 5 minutes. So I understand why. I mentioned it to them but did not send it back. They apologized for this. No harm, no foul. Didn't stop me from coming back. There are so many choices around Kearny Mesa for Mexican food and across our county, and I'll continue to try new spots- but this is among the best for sure close to work.

The place is pretty similar to most of the Mexican restaurant. They had meat and seafood also. I ordered for to-go the Chimichanga Burrito with extra fries on the side. The size of the Burrito was pretty loaded with everything. As soon as I open the box it filled my view on it. The meat was cooked right and all the content was fresh and pretty tasty. The service was really good. The person who took my order was very polite in taking my orders. For a quick but full lunch. This is a good option.

Cotijas is a total sleeper! Don't pass this place up, they've got everything and they do it all very well. It's very near my home, so inexpensive, and quick service. I can feed my family of 6 for less than $40. Do you know how rare that is? That's INCREDIBLE.I have not ordered anything I wasn't 100% happy with. Get the Cotijas burrito, and a quesa-birria. Your belly will thank you, and you'll find yourself thinking about it, craving it, and sad your meal is over when you're finished!

This place is great! It is very popular because the food is always good. I went yesterday just before noon, and thought it might take a while because they were so busy - but no! My food was ready as soon as I had loaded up at the salsa bar. Amazing and friendly.
