Costa Azul Bayside

This restaurant has the best view and it's right by the ferry. If you like Mexican food, you will like this place. The service is spectacular. We especially liked a waitress that worked there that was an avid surfer, and her daughter worked there as a hostess too. She was fantastic, very personable and Customer Service oriented. Their appetizers need to be a little bit larger they're flautas is very small but they're nachos is a good size. Their calamari is small as well.

The 2.9 star average rating is pretty accurate, I'd say. This is an Americanized Mexican joint that is quite overpriced. The best thing about it is the view of the Coronado Bay, the rest is borderline forgettable. The atmosphere inside is very basic, but the patio is nice. Our server wasn't very friendly or attentive and it wasn't crowded so it was strange.We started with the Flautas which were fine. I also got an order of White Bean Chili. It was genuinely so spicy that I couldn't eat much of it. It was full of chunks of green chili. I can tolerate spice well but this was insane. My Mom got the Garlic Shrimp and thought it was just OK. I definitely thought it wasn't great, almost old or chewy tasting. My Dad got the Seafood Tacos which were once again not very fresh. I ordered a BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich which wasn't bad but pretty basic. I wouldn't recommend dining here. It wasn't the worst experience ever but it was very inauthentic and overpriced.

We were walking along the Coronado boardwalk and ran into this place for a quick bite. The view is amazing, but the food is absolute trash. We ordered two shrimp cocktails, and you could tell the shrimp has been sitting in some type of marinade for days because the shrimp was completely soft and squishy and had no crunch to it at all. The server kept mentioning the prices in reference to the quality and we didn't even ask so that's how you know the place has terrible food quality. He kept saying yeah that's how we keep the prices low in Coronado whenever I asked about a play or substitution of some sort. Mind you my substitution was saying like no mushrooms in the fajitas. It's basically fake Americanized Mexican food. They don't even allow hardly any substitutions And they charge you for pretty much anything that you want that makes sense.Will never come back here again

Ordered quesadillas- presentation was terrible, no salsa , no sour cream, no chips - Over priced !!! Very very small portions . Friendly staff .

I had the garlic shrimp. Shrimp was fresh and tasty. Beans and rice were good but just warm. Velvet had the nachos. The house guacamole was very good. I had the Maitai. It was very good and strong. Velvet had the one of the margaritas. She couldn't remember which one. It was strong also. Ha ha. View was amazing. Service was very good.

One star for customer service - our server and the owner were good-natured and accommodating. One star for location - Coronado waterfront overlooking San Diego Bay.One star for the beautiful views of the San Diego skyline from our table, next to the panoramic floor to ceiling windows. There was live entertainment inside the restaurant during our lunch which was a plus. But our meals were a let down. I really wanted to love the food, but couldn't. We ordered ceviche and calamari. The presentation looked appetizing but the seafood was over cooked and therefore rubbery. The tostada shell was much too hard for my liking, but that may just be a subjective opinion.

A cute little restaurant in the plaza you have the nice view of the beach and the city. We optioned to sit outside and they started us off with chips and salsa if we wanted seconds it's an additional cost which is ridiculous as most places give you even seconds our options for catching a quick lunch were the shrimp ceviche and a fish with fish tacos. I was disappointed with the shrimp ceviche as it had more tomatoes than shrimp itself the Tostada was good my Margarita was also good, then a second waitress checks in on us and tell us it was happy hour at the bar inside which by then we were almost done with our food. The restaurant was not even busy a better customer service could have been provided.

Swordfish was thin and dry, and the chicken on the chicken sandwich was dry. Our waitress was a complete amateur and we had to chase her down for the basics.This place feels like management gave up on quality and expects the view (and it is a great view) to sell itself. For example, the bathroom fixtures are old, wobbly and don't stay on after you smash the knob (like in 3rd grade). Soap is a collection of grocery store bottles because they don't care to maintain the dispensers. This place is better suited for OB., not Coronado.

I was hoping the reviews were wrong and decided to try this place anyway. Unfortunately, they were right.**Food:**- The fajitas were not served on a sizzling platter. They tasted and looked like bad cacciatore.- The same stewed meat was used in the chimichanga, which was also disappointing.**Service:**- It took so long to get our water that the ice was melted by the time it arrived.- We waited over 30 minutes just to get our order taken.- Our appetizers arrived with the main meal.- We had our food for five minutes before we finally got utensils, which we had to request.**View:**- The view was great, but it's not worth enduring the terrible food and service.Overall, a very disappointing experience. I would recommend finding another place to enjoy the view.---

Sorry but what a dump. Scared to order anything from this place. Ended up ordering fish and shrimp dish out of desperation. Nibbled on the coconut shrimp to take the edge off and was done. Place is dirty and gross.Staff is very nice.So sad because they have the primo location. No need to chance it here.Whoever owns this place needs to wake up!
