Took the Beginners Course with my husband and our 7 year old. We had never been windsurfing before but had experience with snowboarding and longboarding. The Owner/Instructor was helpful, patient, and easy-going. My husband and I caught on fairly quickly. The instructor took extra time to teach our 7 year old so we could keep practicing. After about an hour of instruction/supervision on the water, we were free to use the boards at our leisure. He didn't give us a time limit, but we chose to be done after an additional 1-1.5 hours on the water. BRING FOOD AND WATER. We didn't bring food and if we had packed a lunch, we would have stayed on the water longer. So much fun and such a fun time!

We have use world worldwinds Windsurfing several times and several times we had good a time there. But the last time we hired teachers to teach a 10-year-old a 14-year-old and an adult. When they finished, the instructor left the 10-year-old with thewindsurfer. No lifejacket. When the board blue away my 10-year-old Did not go into deep water to get it. Thank God. He was totally unsupervised. The staff was unhappy that the wind surfer had blown away. I was happy my 10-year-old grandson had the sense not to go in deep water without a lifejacket after a board that was blowing away faster than a human could swim. So if you take your children there do not trust the instructors to worry unduly about your child's safety.

This place is fantastic, we had a blast at our first time lesson 101 class. The class was small enough that everyone was able to get adequate feedback. Equipment was nice quality. Luke, the Instructor was very good! Prices are reasonable for 1 hour instruction and 2 hours of practice time - $65 for beginner lessons. This should be a must do stop on your list.

My boyfriend asked me to write a review for Worldwinds, he NEVER asks me to write a review for anything so you know he's had a good time! The staff here provided excellent instruction. My guy was up and sailing in about 15 minutes. They give you all of the gear to have a great time Windsurfing. Windy it is! Holy moly. We were camping on the ocean side of Padre Island and I could feel him always looking over his shoulder... gazing longingly at the Bird Basin to get back on a board. Great value, good instruction and lots of jellyfish! Eeeek! I stayed on the beach but everyone looked like they were having a blast with their lesson.

What an awesome place!First of all, this business some how got permission to operate inside a National Park. This means it isn't over-crowded with idiots. Only enthusiastic people were there the day we went. Granted, you can be an enthusiastic pro or an enthusiastic beginner (like we clearly clearly were). The staff is really friendly and their instructors are very knowledgeable and patient. We had the French guy, and he was awesome. After about 45 minutes of teaching us the basics....they let us practice for 3 more hours! All for $60!!!! They weren't hassling us about time limits at all. They also had no problem letting us upgrade to the intermediate boards halfway through the day, which was really nice of them. 100% worth the money. I was shocked about how cheap it was in fact. The location is awesome too. You can go for an entire square mile without the water being more than 5 feet deep, which is great for beginners who fall off a lot. Put on sunscreen, even if it is cloudy. Which I learned the hard way. At least I learned my lesson in April this year...

Fabulous guys that act like you're long-lost friends. We came down for the weekend from Austin and took a lesson Saturday morning. The instructor worked with us for an hour or so, teaching us how to turn, speed up, etc. Then we got to play around until we were exhausted about 3 hours later. They threw in some booties for me at no extra charge. Lesson plus lots of time to try it out for $60.Really pleased, we came back Sunday and they let us try an intermediate board. We actually were out more like 2.5 hours, but he only charged us $25, the 2 hour rate. They have everything from beginner boards to advanced boards with foot straps and harnesses. They also rent kayaks and paddleboards. When we went, there was a woman taking lessons with her 2 children about 10 and 12, I'd say. The endless shallow water makes this a good spot where you won't drown. Also, if you haven't been kiteboarding, starting out is a lot easier than you'd think! The beginner boards are pretty stable so you can learn without having the best balance.

Outstanding instruction and interaction with my sons and I. We have never sailed before and the instructor had us up and going in about 30 minutes. We had a great time and would recommend this place to anyone looking to learn to windsurf.

I love having this shop right by the water inside the National Seashore. My two kids took lessons with Olivier at Worldwinds and were up and sailing that same day. I grew up windsurfing with my dad and brother, and being able to share that with my kids makes for good times and good memories. And of course I also rent gear here so I can rip it up once the wind picks up!
