Motel experience from Westwood Inn. Google / Travel search shows Westwood Inn at $110 a night, I didnt realize this was not the official site when I looked on my phone and called the Motel. We recently booked 2 nights, for 2 rooms as a reservation under my name. They took all my info and credit card. Nothing mentioned about charges etc. Upon arriving, they told us they didnt have our reservations and they were fully booked!! Wow, after driving 2 hours for a weekend get-a-way. After much back and forth, multiple workers coming to the front desk, the kind lady remembered the conversation she had with me for the reservation a week ago. She said she wrote down all my info during the reservation call and then someone else had entered my info. They found my reservations and rooms, under "GROUP", but not my personal name. Whew!!!! Talk about stress upon arrival and 1st time staying in this new Motel. They gave us our door cards and said good to go now. I was not provided a receipt or a total. I asked for the receipt and tucked it away. I went back to the office to alert them of the error and that they didnt charge me enough. They proceeded to tell me that they didnt have us down for 2 nights on each room, but for only 1 night each!! NOW I find out that the rate is $175 per night... for a motel. I never would have booked anything at those rates for a motel. There is a fishing tournament in town and while there are multiple places to stay, everyone is booked. Talk about poorly trained property staff, and an owner that is not on property, with a brand new location. Perhaps there needs to be more training and support? They are very apologetic and helpful in offering to shuffle some things around and get us our saturday nights as well. The lady employee remembered the entire conversation over the phone and confirmed that this is what we originally asked for a week earlier!! The lady made a comment that I was staying pretty cool with all this happening, while the manager kept giving her looks. ;) I did share that I appreciated their efforts and that I wanted to speak with the owner. He calls me and we talk about this experience. He is polite and professional and offers to assist. He does secure us Saturday night for both rooms. Thats the good news. I brought up the pricing showing online and I thought this was his website. He shared that he charges different rates depending on what is going on and weekend vs weekdays. This is his business so thats his option to do so. I can respect that.. After much conversation, the owner says he will graciously discount the room to $140 for each night. I thank you for that!!! When we are checking out Sunday AM, we are asked to confirm a charge for $175 a night... here we go again. The female employee notices this by her co-worker, points it out and they correct this to $140. What they missed was there was supposed to be a credit for Friday night and for 2 rooms as we were charged $175. Keep in mind that I was originally expecting $110 per night per Google/travel/hotels. At this point, I am so perturbed with all the issues, that I didnt even bring it up. Rating the property and rooms for a property that is only 3 months open: Awesome beds and very nice bathroom with lighted mirrors, granite counters, new fridge / freezer, microwave. The remaining furniture is USED, scuffed, dented and that appears to be auction furnishings from other hotels. The craftsmanship and construction of entire property / rooms is shoddy when you inspect. The doors to multiple rooms are not aligned. Luckily we noticed this leaving the room. The door closes, but does not lock. We tried it several times, each time using more force and still the doors pushes open. Went to the office again and they stated to really slam the door. (I cringe doing that as their are other guests.). Yes, slamming the door very hard worked and it locked. Their doors are not weatherized either. Enough gaps to see light and for insects to enter the rooms. One of our rooms, the blinds didnt work and wouldnt extend down to cover the window and their bright outside lighting would keep you up at night. We had to roll up towels in the window to cover the light shining onto bed. There was no housekeeping, only one small cube of soap in the room, and only 2 bath towels in the room. We had to go to the office to get our items needed on 2nd night. Why do we keep having to go to the office for $175 night. I would understand if it were maybe $75 a night value motel. The website claims to have Starbucks coffee??? The coffee in the rooms was not even close. Nice 5 star hotels in Houston can be cheaper that $175 a night and you receive a stress free stay, have all the amenities and value. You can put lipstick on a pig, but its still......

Where do I start? The motel finishes are terrible. The frig is on the wrong side and door opens into the bathroom door. The towels were not white and thread bare and never even set foot in the lobby and no breakfast was offered Nov.29th. The grass has never been cut and I'd be afraid to walk behind this motel. We checked out and will never set foot on this property.

I was hoping for the best when we booked a stay here. We visit the area often, and it was nice to have another option for a place to stay. The door did not latch properly. Glad I noticed or someone could have just walked in and taken my things. It seemed overpriced considering the furniture seemed used. The bed seemed new and was comfortable. Loved the water pressure in the shower, too. I just was hoping for a more luxurious experience for the price. The place has potential, but they need to invest more in amenities to justify their price or drop to something more reasonable.
