Tortillerias San Luis

We have visited Tortillería San Luis 3 times in the past several weeks. The staff here are super friendly and helpful. The first time in the shop we bought flour tortillas that you cook at home. They are excellent. The clerk explained on our first visit that on the weekends they prepare barbacoa and menudo. They serve different dishes every day for lunch but the weekends are special. On our second visit we sampled the barbacoa and purchased half pound of it. On the way out of the store the clerk gave us a container of menudo to try at home. We also bought some green sauce but they had given us a red and a green sauce in the bag with the barbacoa. The green sauce is spicy but is the best I have tasted in the valley so far! I am addicted!Today we returned and bought more barbacoa and some carnitas. More flour tortillas and more green sauce. I immediately tasted the carnitas when I got home and it is soooo delicious. We chatted at length with the clerk learning he is the owner. He is so friendly and very professional. We are just learning to speak Spanish and he was very encouraging. All of the products they sell are from Mexico and all their prepared foods are authentic recipes. We will be regulars at this little shop.
