The Salvation Army

I try to stop in here about once a week. The store is clean and organized. The staff is really kind and welcoming! I cannot say that I buy something every time I visit but I do find some hidden treasures. The only negative is that the clothing is not separated by size, which would make shopping here less tiresome.

This thrift store is directly on S. Padre Island Dr. The interior is at least 10,000 ft.² inside. The first thing you notice as you walk in the place is that they have quite a lot of furniture. They had two beautiful sectional pieces and 3 pianos on our visit. Yes, they have a lot of clothes on the floor, but they have a very large media section of DVDs, CDs, VHS and books. They have a great selection of dishware as well as glassware. As an avid thrift store shopper, I have to admit I was impressed with this place. The photos included should entice you.

Service was great staff was readily and willingly available to assist us. Unfortunately it was not very clean and extremely overpriced furniture for condition. Most items only had minor flaws and it was well organized. They did not have big enough bags for the pillows and items that wouldn't fit in an heb sized grocery plastic bag or tape to close the wrapping for glass items. They did have every staff member on point when an unstable customer got out of hand yelling and cussing angrily with someone whom may or may not have been on the other end of his phone. The manager had responded quickly and locked the door ( called law enforcement too) once the unstable man left the building ensuring safety of customers and staff.

I pop into this store maybe once a month. I find stuff every now and then. They have a large selection of clothing and furniture. I always see nice options in the furniture section. I typically shop for household items and collectibles. The last time I went, there were so many dirty, broken pieces of glassware, ceramics and pottery. I felt like I was going through items that were meant for the trash. Anyway, they need to work on the housewares and collectibles sections. The prices have gotten a little crazy on certain items. I haven't had any problems with the staff, they have always been courteous and helpful.

My only problem is that the clothes aren't separated by size. It makes finding a treasure difficult.

This store is great for furniture and knicknacks-good prices and the asst manager, Cindy, is the best! So helpful and friendly, unusual to find in thrift stores of this size. I don't know what they are paying her but its not enough....

The staff and manager, Chris are super kind and friendly!!! The store is clean and there is always a find or really cool antiques!!!
