The Place Hotel

So we went here for a family vacation for a few nights and it was pretty good. The carpet appeared old in our room though so we made sure to wear shoes. Breakfast was fantastic. The few employees we spoke to were nice, but then came the issue. We were FORCEFULLY EVACUATED because Beryl was coming. This meant we would be missing a whole day and night. We left as requested and told them we hope they stay safe and we would see them again, THEN we found out that even though we were basically kicked out of the hotel for a city wide evacuation that we would not be getting our money back for the missed time bc we chose to leave after checkout time, UM, we thought we still had a whole day to go. We met another couple in the parking lot who were angry as well as the notices were given out after checkout time. So when I asked booking.com they said oh well sorry. then the hotel also said sorry, we keep the money.We ran into two other couples at lunch that were packed up to leave and their hotel gave them vouchers for 2 nights for the inconvience. We got the name of their hotel and will be staying there next time. I don't trust businesses who SCAM people out of their money.

There site ask desired check in time but if they are gull the night before best you'll probably get in is 4pm. Stayed here before and enjoyed it. Thought those times were yo good to be true. If the woman at the counter wasn't having a bad day I probably wouldn't have even written a review. She didn't seem happy to be there and acted snooty. If things change I'll probably edit this more positive if the rest of the stay is good but I still have to check in.Addendum: called me in an hour and let me know the room was rescheduled. Rest of stay was good.Recommend to coach employees that first impressions matter. Not a good idea to be snarky with customers. Also modify web page and remove times for early check in.

I wish they had an elevator but it's small so that's whatever. They have excellent employees and their breakfast has great options. No waffle station but they have toast and bagels and such and cereals but not eggs.The location offsets this totally. I only stay at hotels with breakfast and this is as very clean and the staff was amazing.Just know your plate number when you check in bc we had to send the kid out to get it at check in.

Friendly staff upfront and room was quite large with King and sofa bed. Only problem was No Ice! They said it was broke because people would fill up their coolers. But not sure how long it had been out. Also no pool.

This place is very nice. The room is clean and comfortable. The halls and common areas are clean and well maintained. It is easy to to leave the car here and walk to many local sites. I hope to stay here again.

Long time customer here. We love staying at The Place, it's always clean and dependable. The staff are amazing, the customer service from the front desk folks always reminds me why I love Texas. Big thank you to Scott, who is extra helpful, and even lends a hand when I'm having something delivered to a friend staying there, even though I'm not! We can't wait to keep coming back.

What a steal! So inexpensive mid-week and off season. Clean, quiet and comfortable with friendly staff.

Right as you get off the ferry this cute little place is here waiting for you with bright modern decor, comfy beds, and friendly staff. There are tons of great attractions within walking distance but there is also a cart rental on the same property for a little extra fun. Everything in this hotel gives the feel of open breathing space, calm, and the beach (which is why we come to Port A. It was easy to get in and out of , we felt safe, and it was reasonably priced We both slept so well after going out foe a nice dinner and a walk on the beach. We'll definitely be back.

We stayed one night Monday-Tuesday April 2021. I have to say that the hotel looked and smelled clean which was my main concern. The bed was comfortable so I was relieved to get a decent night of sleep after spending the afternoon at nearby Mustang Island State Park. The decor is modern and the main lobby areas and our room were very well kept and decorated. The exit door near our room and area by the washing machine looks rusted and dirty and old, almost like a different hotel from the rest. Fortunately the king bed rooms are downstairs so we didn't have to use stairs at all. I did hear slight noise from above floor but we brought a speaker and played noise cancelling sounds at night so that helped. The room was very dark, the lighting is not sufficient. The bedside outlets I had used were broken so I found out in the middle of the night when my speaker lost its charge. Luckily the other outlets worked. The air conditioning worked well which I can't say about a lot of hotels. The bathroom was small but nice, could use more hooks and shelves for towels, soap etc though. No bathtub, only a good sized shower. There is a cute breakfast area however it is closed due to covid. We went to the lobby to pick up a sack breakfast which included a danish or muffin, oatmeal in a cup to prepare in our own microwave, juice and a rotten banana. There were several keurig coffee pod options in our room to brew our own coffee. I was hoping for views of boats/port/water but the surrounding views were of dilapidated buildings and dead palm trees. The beach is not within walking distance but is a quick drive. CVS, gift shops, and many small restaurants are nearby. All in all, it is a clean place to get some rest but lacking amenities like a pool, bathtub, nice views, hot breakfast and elevator.

We just spent a week at the Place Hotel & enjoyed it very much. That is the cleanest Hotel & rooms on the planet. The manager & staff were great & the complementary breakfast was always ready early & the coffee was excellent.We will stay there again our next time through.Sincerely, Joe & Charlotte Tebo
