The Original Railroad Seafood Station

Great place to eat. We shared a Railroad burger, a small order of onion rings and a small avocado salad at lunch. Food was delicious and the service was quick, friendly and accurate. Family atmosphere. Many food selections are available and there is a bar. Locals keep the place hopping with after the game, family and church gatherings. If you live in Corpus Christi it is an excellent opportunity for a quick "road trip". Enjoy

Haven't read all the reviews but I am shocked this is anything less than 4 stars. We loved everything and almost bypassed it due to the low reviews and boy am I sure glad we didn't. All 5 of us loved what we ordered as well as what everyone else did lol. The popcorn shrimp made my eyes pop out, they were big and flash breaded rather than the tiny frozen ones covered in breading that I'm used to. They were SO good! Loved their seafood Tatar sauce, it had a little kick too. Their sides change daily so be sure to check the board by the hostess station. My favorite was the Cajun mashed potatoes they were out of this world. Alex was our server and she was incredible which made the experience even better. We felt so welcome and so taken care of, she was a gem. We pulled up and my kids said it looked old and yucky but come on that is what I love, a good "hole in the wall" with character, it was perfect. The inside gave me a little bit of a Cracker Barrel feel, but the food beats CB anyday.

Terrible. This is not affiliated with the Railroad in Corpus and not even in the same league. The atmosphere was okay, old, western. I don't believe the menus have been updated in over a decade other than new prices, which is extremely overpriced for the quality of their food. The wine was cheap, and there were no craft beers. The wait staff wasn't familiar or helpful with the menu. I ordered the snapper pontchartrain. It didn't look or taste like snapper or pontchartrain sauce. I'm 90% sure it was the frozen stuff you can get at the store with a gravy sauce and bits of crab, maybe. If you're into reheated, frozen seafood, this might be your place, but otherwise stay clear.

Yummy! Our all time favorite Seafood Restaurant! You can order individually or family style. If you get the Avocado Salad be prepared! It's a big one! Their fried shrimp has a deliciously light batter and the catfish is yummy! Great place to take family and friends.

Shrimp, Shrimp and More Shrimp!!! I had the pleasure of visiting the original Railroad Seafood Station during a visit to the Corpus Cristi area earlier this year. I was visiting friends at the new SDI Construction site just down the highway and I was invited to go for lunch with them. They asked me if I liked shrimp and of course, I said yes!!! When we got there I noticed the restaurant had a country-style feel to it, with post and beam decor and wooden tables and chairs. I watched as servers brought out massive platters of shrimp done in many ways. Once we were seated I let the gang order and we decided on a couple of family-sized salads, a large serving of jumbo onion rings and three platters of shrimp. The platters we ordered were Blackened, Coconut and Fried Shrimp. Not one of them disappointed us. Every piece of shrimp on every platter was fresh, plump and juicy. The blackened shrimp had a nice kick to them without having to need 3 gallons of water to be able to eat them. Spiced just right, they had a good and even level of spice which made them very easy to eat. The hand-battered coconut shrimp were very appetizing as well. Cooked to a golden colour and crispy with freshly grated pieces of coconut these shrimp very amazing. I was very surprised when I tried the fried shrimp as they were lightly coated and not greasy in any way, crunchy yes, greasy no, these were very well prepared shrimp.The food was very good, the service was great and we got our food fairly quickly so that lunch didn't take forever. I do recommend this place, and my only regret was that I wasn't able to try some other dishes and beers from the brewery.

Party of 2 for an early lunch. Sat immediately and drink order was received. We ordered the crawfish gumbo, crab hush puppies, bacon wrapped shrimp, fried fish, and 1 pound of fried shrimp. All the food was so tasty and not oily at all. The shrimp was sweet and battered well. The hush puppies were my favorite. Waitress was not that attentive as she watched TV at the bar. I also had to get up, after waiting over 10 minutes for a refill, to get a soda refill. Otherwise, great experience for my first time eating here.

Went and bought a pound of Shrimp, Catfish and Onion Rings yesterday. It was not good. The Shrimp was so over cooked to long and Onions Rings seemed to have been cooked in ole grease. Very disappointed...

Too pricy for the quality of food you get. 32 bucks for 4 shrimp and 1 catfish fillet cut into 4 pieces. I have no issues with farm raised catfish, but the fat and silver has to be cut off before it's fried or grilled to keep that musty taste away. Went against my better judgement and tried some seafood / Cajun food a little bit too far away from Louisiana. The French fries and DrPepper was good though!

Outstanding Shrimp! I've been trying to match the boiled, steamed Jumbo Shrimp whenever they appear on the menu. No one can match the size, freshness, or number of shrimp in the order. Austin, TX.
