The Oaks at Bentwater Apartment Homes

The complex is nice with shaded areas and places to walk. The 2-bedroom apartment I have is very nice. Enjoy having lots of windows and huge closets in the bedrooms. The only other closet though is a small pantry in the kitchen. No linen closet in the bathroom. I really wish the kitchen had more cupboards. It also only has two small drawers. Glad to have a dishwasher and microwave provided. The complex currently allow dogs which is both good and bad. I have two well trained dogs. I pick up after them and see others doing the same. There are those however that don't. I wish they had a policy to fine those that don't pick up after their dogs. That might help. I want my dogs to be good residents just as I want to be. Quiet and respectful of others. That isn't true of too many dogs and their owners in this complex. Dogs barking is a big problem. There are dogs on balconies unattended that bark. There are dogs on balconies that bark with their owners present doing little to stop them. There are dogs in apartments that bark shockingly loudly at the windows when you walk around the complex. I feel sorry for their neighbors. Evidently very tolerant. I even had another tenant's dogs attack and bite my dog. It seems the complex wants to allow dogs (which is great) but doesn't actively attend to the potential problems caused by dog owners that don't respect their neighbors. They do credit checks on potential tenants but don't do any sort of check on the dogs before allowing them. Something like a simple bark and/or obedience test would go a long way to having not only creditworthy tenants but well behaved dogs.I think if this complex can resolve the dog issues it would easily be a 4 or 5 star place to live.

When my husband first moved in the office people were very helpful and friendly and now it seems every time I go into the office they close their door and their blinds in my face, as if they don't want to talk to me. They never answer the phones! Also, when we moved in after being told we had new carpet (we knew that wasn't true because we had already been inside the apartment) their were and still are stains in the carpet, the base boards, toilets, doors, cabinets, and showers were not cleaned. In the booklet that they give you it says quiet time is 10 PM-8 AM. The truck that empties the dumpster comes almost every other day between 5AM-6:30AM. It is EXTREMELY loud and wakes me every time. The men who mow the property arrive fairly early as well. They also seemed to have a strict policy on picking up poop after people's animals (which we loved) although people don't abide by that policy. We pick our dogs poop up every single time, and half the time, other dogs poop too. We always have a big dump in our yard that someone leaves for us to pick up! Mulch was recently poured but only in half of the complex. My yard is probably the most unattractive yard in this whole place and I know they are suppose to keep up with that. Pest control is suppose to be included in your monthly rent cost, that's what we were told. They have been to our apartment to spray once, only sprayed both bathrooms and we still have bugs (I vacuum everyday and mop at least twice a week) Other than that the property is probably the nicest in Rockport that we have seen and our neighbors are friendly. I also like the pool but it's too small for the amount of people I usually see there. I can't wait for the kids to go back to school!

Disclaimer: We didn't pick this community to live as home due to some needs of our family. However, I wanted to say that our experience with staff has been very polite and helpful. They were very informative and willing to show us more than one apt available. They answered all of our questions and were very accommodating. The property was beautiful and very well picked up. The homes were all nice and had some great uniqueness like built in desks and a built in book shelves. Decent closet space. Overall, very positive experience. We chose a different location that fit our needs best in another town due to work locations.
