Was expecting a bit more based on the reviews. Ordered the chicken salad but it didn't have much flavor. Had to add a good amount of salt and pepper. Staff was friendly and kind. Restaurant itself was clean as well.

Great service most of the time for dinner unless we get a new waitress which we totally understand!One visit I had chicken soup which was very flavorful and my favorite The Local Signature salad! I thoroughly enjoyed! Another visit I ordered Roasted Balsamic Chicken Breast... I don't know what happened to the chicken but it was extremely thinner the I can recall from another time. It was dry but doused it in the mashed potatoes and or spinach!

Food is okay. Nice spot inside. Went for lunch and ordered off the lunch menu. Good portion.

This place has so many things to brag about! First of all, during the day time they have a lunch menu with awesome burgers & sandwiches. It's like a deli where you place your order at the register and then get your own drinks. In the evenings for dinner it's a totally different atmosphere. It's a cozy & romantic sit down restaurant with amazing food! Their sautéed chicken with artichoke is mouth watering. It usually comes with garlic spinach but I always substitute with the garlic green beans and they are so delicious. The bar has some wonderful drinks and you'll wanna try them all. Decor is very nice and the servers are friendly. Great venue for special events like rehearsal dinners, showers or even corporate events.

A quiet, roomy, breakfast and lunch Cafe by day with dinner and a full bar by night. My, first time, Saturday afternoon visit consisted of lunch, however, according to their menu they serve dinner after 5:00 pm along with a full bar. The breakfast/lunch menu consists of bacon and eggs, burgers, salads, soups and wraps. Since I was in the mood for something light and I love vegetables, I decided to try an eggplant vegetable sandwich called The Great Outdoors with pesto and goat cheese on grilled ciabatta bread which came with an option of a side of potato salad or fruit, I chose the potato salad. The sandwich was very good, as well as the potato salad, and I'm picky when it comes to potato salad. My only complaint was the portion size was so small. It was served in a little plastic cup with the top. This is a great place to visit if you're looking for a light meal. The service was prompt and friendly from the moment I walked in, to order at the cash register, to the moment they delivered my food to the table. If you're ever visiting Lake Jackson Texas "The Local" is a place I would recommend. Oh, and the desserts showcase...OMG!!

So I found myself looking for a decent meal after yet another day/evening of merchandising work out in Lake Jackson. I stumbled upon this place while browsing the available options and curiosity got the better of me.There was a relatively sparse crowd for a Saturday night, yet I didn't get even get the slightest of weird looks for walking in as a solo diner. Now at this establishment, the pairing of vegetables to the dish is fixed and substitutions aren't allowed. I decided to try the chicken fried steak, which happens to be paired with mashed potatoes and green beans, despite the fact I'm not a huge green beans fan.The chicken fried steak was excellent. The mashed potatoes are superb as well. The green beans are absolutely amazing, perhaps the best to be found in the greater Houston area.Despite the prices running a bit higher than I had originally planned to spend on dinner this trip, I think I have found a new favorite restaurant when I'm in Lake Jackson and I hope to be back soon.

Nice atmosphere and people. My favorite are the mimosas but that's me. The food presentation is nice and very tasty.

This is one of the best places to eat or have drinks in Lake Jackson. The food and service are great and it's right in the middle of downtown. The style of the building and the menu are all geared towards the history of the town/city with items like the "Riverside burger." Pretty much a Lake Jackson staple
