Texas A1 Steaks & Seafood

Everything! Food, Service, Ambiance!!!Went for weekday lunch around the time they opened. Salads came out quick and steaks were perfectly timed and delicious!

Visited yesterday and was very disappointed. To start off, me and my party walked in right as they opened. We still had to wait to be seated because "the tables aren't ready." Weird but ok. For our appetizer, The stuffed mushrooms were still raw. The stuffing was fine but the overpowering taste and texture of the raw mushroom unappitizing. Upon walking in, there was a chicken pasta dish listed as the special of the day. When someone in my party tried to order it, the special magically changed to a Philliy cheese steak. No harm no foul. She ordered it. When it arrived, it looked like no other cheese steak I've ever seen. The meat looked like those Steak Um meat products from the 80s. The cheese was non existent. Shredded cheese under the meat. A sandwich should have a hopping amount of cheese sauce dripping off the bread. The only thing worse than the cheese steak was my ribs. Rather than basting the ribs in sauce, a slab of A1 sauce was dumped on the ribs while sitting on my plate. Ribs and A1 sauce is a horrible combination. It screams, "I'm hiding my under seasoned ribs in sauce." The only saving grace was our server. She was extremely attentive and despite our large party, she kept our drinks full and never seemed flustered. Theres so many chain restaurants in the Calallen area, it's a shame a local place offers subpar food.

Best Happy hour deals in the Portland, perhaps the Corpus Christi area?I've been a regular customer since I've started visiting the area for work regularly. It's a good thing I only stay yards away?! Happy hour available weekdays from 2pm until 6pm, excluding holidays. It's hard to beat the 1/2 off ALL APPETIZERS, unlike most other restaurants which have a limited selection. I'm a fan of the $4 frozen margaritas, made just the way I like it..not too sweet, more on the sour side. I've had the opportunity to try out many menu items . My favorite appetizers include the Stuffed Mushrooms & Bone In Wings. The Stuffed Mushrooms are stuffed with Texas A-1 famous seafood stuffing...fair warning, the flavor is addictively delicious! I also like the Bone In Wings because surprisingly, not many restaurants offer an Asian sauce. The Bone In Wings are always prepared perfectly whenever I've ordered. My favorite steak at Texas A-1 is the Certified Black Angus. Such a high quality amazingly delicious steak at a very reasonable price of $19.99, but tastes like a $40 steak. I'm always amazed with the quality & flavor. It has raise my standards for Sirloin steaks. On the days I feel guilty of over eating, I order the Avocado Salad with grilled chicken. Not your average salad, it's freshly cut, not out of a bag! Such freshness & high quality will surely raise anybody's salad standards!? And most importantly, I need to recognize the amazing staff at Texas A-1 for consistently providing superior customer service.

Texas A1 Steaks & Seafood was next door to the hotel I was staying at and it sounded too good not to try. Texas and Coastal Texas seemed fitting for the ambiance since that's exactly where we are.I will tell you I was glad I went early (6:30), because it really started filling up after I was seated.A great menu!You will certainly be able to find something you like!I went with the grilled chicken and shrimp. Outstanding visit tonight. I'm not sure that we were expecting quite such a flavourful steak when we decided to come, but boy wr were surprised. Not only was our service fantastic, but each employee we encountered were super nice. We can't wait to dive into the cheesecake we took to go.

I've been multiple times to this restaurant, a local favorite. It's a bit busy and can become crowded so come early if you need a lot of conversation with your meal as the tables are close together and it can get loud with the crowd. Texas themed decor with a coastal twist. Comfortable seating. Good drinks and a nice bar area. My favorite dinner is the crispy chicken salad with pepper corn ranch. However, the other salads are excellent as well. They have decent steaks and good seafood plus really good burgers. Dinner comes with complimentary rolls and cinnamon butter. The price is very reasonable and food quality very good. I enjoy the salads because they are always fresh and tasty. I tried the Texas wildcat cocktail.. very tasty. Not hard to understand why locals love this restaurant.

Food, service and ambiance are all perfect. Its the only place to get a decent Rib-eye at a decent price within 50 miles.. The steak is not the best but it is edible. I dont think anyone makes a really good Rib-eye anymore.

Their stuffed flounder is famous for a reason! Really flavorful stuffing, and perfectly cooked fish. The broccoli was alright. The broiled stuffed shrimp (recommendation from the waitress) were good as well. The garnish was a little comical, but oh well. I'll definitely be back!

We enjoy eating at Texas A1. Unfortunately, lately the quality of the food has declined. It used to be that the taste and service was consistent. Not so much anymore. Not sure if management has changed or management is just not paying attention to details. It most likely starts at the top. I hope management takes into account that Portland is growing and new restaurants are currently in the buiding stage as well as in the planning phase. That being said, you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but in this case even the parking lot and landscaping has declined in its upkeep. Just aheads up folks, the Coastal Bend area is growing, which means friendly competition. Customers will choose the clean, well maintained restaurant with delicious food. Hope you can get back to what you know...good food with a great enviroment.

The food was delicious and the service was excellent. It's worth a visit if you haven't been.
