Texas A1 Steak and Seafood Restaurant 4241 Northwest Blvd Ste #105 Calallen , Texas 78410. Party of four Arrived for a Birthday dinner for me on Friday November 22! L My last visit was on December 2019! First of all, I am very critical of the Culinary field and not easily impressed because of my extensive Culinary Background. Having said that - I AM IMPRESSED! What an improvement! Whoa! Facts; They were busy but my Sister-in-law checked us in and she was told 15 minutes wait time! I set my timer! Whoa! 15 minutes and we got a table for four! The Hostess was extremely accommodating, very nice and extremely respectful! Whoa! That was a sign of things to come! All the Staff worked like a well oiled and successful winning NFL Team - Double Wow! They were everywhere, ready to serve the Customer ASAP! I watched them! Again Wow! Let's get to the food! My Wife and I each ordered the Blacked Redfish! The plates were HUGE! And although the "Rice" was good, the Blackened Redfish was Excellent and one plate was big enough to feed two people! Call that another Wow! Like I said without being arrogant, I am NOT easily impressed! This is the Best Restaurant I have eaten at in years! I now know why they were so busy! No Brainer! Highly Recommend! !Five Star all the way!My qualifications as an Expert and Experienced Food and Service Critic; I have over 65 years of Management Experience. I have a College Degree with a BS in Management and have been trained in two Culinary Schools, to include on the job training at other venues. I've managed full service as well as fast food restaurants and have had my own successful Catering business. As a Culinary Trainer, I have trained personnel on how to provide superb cuisine and customer service. At the age of 78, I am now retired and enjoy being on the other side of the Apron.

All around good steak & seafood place. Service is great and never felt rushed, restrooms are always clean. Low keyed steak house with very helpful & nice staff

Some of the best steak I've ever had was right here. Steak and quail was cooked over a mesquite fire which made my food taste amazing. The service was very fast the the wait staff was very prompt and friendly.

I ordered the mesquite grilled chicken with baked potato and fried okra. When I sat down the waitress who was very friendly and responsive brought rolls, regular butter, and a type of cinnamon spread. The service was very good and they were quick to accommodate. The okra was bit over fried and the chicken a bit over cooked. The potato was good, the rolls good. The prices are a bit high but the atmosphere was good and the food decent. I would recommend that when you go you specify to the waitress to not have okra fried too much and to ensure chicken isn't over cooked. These are merely suggestions as you may like your chicken and okra cooked differently. I would recommend this place for gatherings, romantic date, or simply to dine out with family and friends.

Too start. Sunday evening 7:15 35 minute wait time with 7 empty tables. Let's see what the rest of the night brings us. This has been my average view for the last 20 minutes.

a fantastic old-fashioned Texas steakhouse with some of the friendliest service around. Now, if you're really hungry, here's the secret: go for the steak for two. It's served on a hot steel skillet, sizzling away, and it comes with a giant platter of onion rings along with your choice of four sides. It's an absolute steal, and all you need to bring is your appetite. You won't be disappointed. A-1 has a laid-back family atmosphere. and you get a lot for your money

The food and service are top notch! We love this as an option for family dinners when no one wants to cook! It's always a treat!

This place is great. People are nice and the food is amazing I had a $13 fried chicken salad and it was amazing. The sweet tea was probably the best I ever had. My friend had a steak and he said it was real good. If I ever find myself in Robstown I'm definitely coming here again. Sorry I didn't take a photo. This was a place where you don't even think about taking your phone out and doing the American thing.

We went early on a Saturday evening. We were seated immediately. Server was very attentive. Overall the ambiance was a nice steak house.We both had salads, they were good but very ordinary lettuce, cherry tomatoes, croutons and a slice of cucumber. Blue cheese dressing was very good and Raspberry vinaigrette was awful. It was think and sticky sweet. We could not eat it. I ordered the Stuffed grilled shrimp with a loaded baked potato. My husband ordered 3 sides with his salad. He ordered broccoli, fried okra and green beans. The food came out quickly but the shrimp were cold and the baked potato was old and dried out. It had been reheated and was terrible. I sent the potato back and substituted for mashed potatoes. The mash had no flavor so I just gave up. The broccoli was 3 florets with no seasoning, the green beans had so much bacon you could not taste them and the okra was rock hard from setting too long in a warmer. We finished what we could and left. I don't recommend this location at least for the menu items we had. We won't be going back. There is a Kbobs across the street and their food was much better. Really don't know what's happening at this location, but has been closed over a month for remodeling. Yet i see no vehicles outside. Something strange going on here at this location. Manager won't respond
