Fantastic burritos with large homemade flour tortillas. Served in kind of a dump. Perfect!

Never had anything bad or wrong here, wish it was closer to my house. I'm not a big meat eater so I get potato, napolito and egg breakfast burritos here. Everything we have ever ordered here is delicious.

Great little hole-in-the-wall Mexican cafe. Went there for breakfast with family while visiting home. Wife had a burrito that was huge, she didn't finish it. I had the Megas with hot sauce on the side so I could control the heat level. Great home made hot sauce, not traditional restaurant Tex-Mex. Beans, tortillas, bacon and eggs were excellent. Only thing missing was Dr. Pepper or Sweet Tea only have Coke products, unsweet tea, or coffee. Next time in Ill be back

One of the best restaurants in Cuero for breakfast and for a decent Mexican lunch, and at decent prices! You can get a good meal here for under 10 bucks easy. It's hard to find things to complain about here. I've been coming here for years. They have great lunch specials.... you can get a Chicken Fried Steak and veggies and dessert for about 8 to 9 dollars. But the place is in need of a face lift. The outside is starting to get a little run down and I wish they could do something about the parking. When this place gets full, you either have to park streetside or in the parking lot across the street at Ful-O-Pep.All in all, aside from some cosmetic work, this place is awesome. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. I've popped up five minutes before closing time and they are always friendly enough to hold the door open a little while longer so you can grab a meal. If you're passing through Cuero, I highly recommend this place!

I've only had breakfast tacos here but they are AMAZING! They are about the size of 2-3 regular tacos and cost less than the price of 2-3 tacos! I think one very large taco is about 3-4 bucks. Oh and did I mention the tortillas are homemade? I used to go to Andy's Quick stop on 312 West Heaton Street, Cuero, TX 77954. It's about 5 mins away. They sell breakfast tacos there and I thought they were actually pretty good but the tacos are small and the heavyset cashier/manager/owner or whatever she is, has a disgusting attitude! She is rude and rushes you to order! I won't be returning to Andy's....Tejas Cafe is 100x better and the service is better too!

I was very hungry when I came here for lunch on a Saturday, and didn't have high expectations, but I was pretty disappointed anyway. I'm not a food snob, I love a good divey Mexican joint. I wanted to like this one.The interior of this place is somewhat rundown; a coat of paint would go a long way toward adding a general feeling of cleanliness. But I wouldn't have minded the atmosphere if the food had been better.I ordered a combo platter and unfortunately didn't like it. The taco meat was extremely over-salted. My first (and only) bite of the rice had a grain or two of sand or something grain-of-sand-like which a) didn't belong there and which b) kinda freaked me out. The refried beans were very greasy and runny, it honestly was like a pool of beans under the enchiladas. So I only had a couple bites of the beans. The beef enchiladas were just meh. I won't describe the chalupa, but I will tell you honestly that my overall impression was that the food here is pretty gross.I wish I hadn't eaten here, y'all.Be aware that they don't give out complimentary chips and salsa like every self-respecting Tex-Mex restaurant I can think of. When I asked for chips and salsa, I was informed that their deep fryer was broken, so no chips. Of course it's understandable that occasionally equipment breaks down, but here's an outside-the-box thought; couldn't you just order tortilla chips from wherever you got these obviously-not-made-on-premises taco and chalupa shells? I learned when the bill arrived that I had been charged extra for the salsa. I didn't like the salsa either; it was very, very watery, kind of like a thin broth with chunks of jalapeño and onion but little or no tomato, which might be the reason my server called it "hot sauce" every time I mentioned "salsa". It wasn't a salsa verde. Not really sure what it might be called. It was definitely spicy, so I guess "hot sauce" is as good a term as any. But it sadly didn't do JACK to improve the taste of my meal. Regardless, though, I'm not used to being charged for condiments. Oh! One other thing, just so you're aware; there is not one single item on the menu containing the word "chicken", not even an option for chicken enchiladas or any other concept whatsoever involving pollo. I double-checked. But if you find yourself here with a hankering for "cabeza", you're in luck. I didn't try that. The server was friendly but inattentive in light of the fact that there was only one other table occupied. Not a big deal. I do have this weird impression though, that there was some misinformation about the chips (or lack thereof) and salsa...oh sorry, "hot sauce". I guess she should have mentioned that I would be charged for it and that it's not the same kind of salsa or whatever that most Tex-Mex places serve. And that tortilla chips are against her religion or whatever the real reasons were that I couldn't have chips and regular salsa just like we all want and deserve as Mexican food lovers in Texas. I left a decent tip and hoped she didn't share it with the kitchen staff.Needless to say, I won't be back. Try Maya's nearby, just down the street, if you're looking for Mexican food for lunch or dinner. Or Taqueria Vallarta for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Both of those places are much cleaner, have much better food and they both most definitely have multiple chicken choices on the menu.

Friendly staff with puffy homemade tortillas. Has a grandmother's home kinda feel to it. The Migas with Chorizo and salsa Ranchero was crazy delicious. Sad that I will only be able to come back once more before I leave town.

I love having breakfast here, but January 4 was not a good day for them , my husband and I arrived at ten am there was maybe ten people in the diner we both ordered omlettes with toast. I love the toast there it's grilled and buttery. Anyway it took thirty minutes to get our food with no toast, I told our server right away never got the toast. The omelete was good I ordered sausage and cheese with veggies, the sausage was not there it was veggies and cheese . Breakfast out is a treat and this was so disappointing. I will only go on weekdays from now on, they are totally awesome Monday through Friday.

Love the Enchiladas al Carbon, but the service isn't very good and the salsa is okay. Two people I work with love this place, I thought it was good to but I can't compare it to other Cuero restaurants since I'm new here.
