Taqueria La Fogata

Excellent food and great quick service. I got the Fajita Quesadilla and I was impressed with the size and quality.

Called in a to go order, was ready pretty quick. Service was good, the tacos bistek were delicious

I was visiting from California, and the food was amazing!!! Their tacos de trompo (Al Pastor) and it was so delicious. La Fogata is a must-try when you're in the Harlingen area!

So, we stopped at La Fogata during a business trip to Harlingen. While there weren't many reviews, the few reviews that we read had some convincing pictures. These tacos had diced onion, avocado and cilantro. I had a Gringa and an order of Tacos de Trompo and my colleague had Tacos de Trompo and Barbacoa; we added a "cebolla asada", recommended with real tacos. The tacos come with some Frijoles Charros, which were OK, may have lacked a little salt and serrano chilis. I look forward to a salsa with more heat, but the options were adequate. I would come back in the future.No melted yellow cheese here, no chips and queso, good sign.

Easily the best taqueria in harlingen. No one does it like them. Delicious tacos that will keep you coming back. Hard working and friendly staff.

Harlingen is like a mystery to me. I know there are hidden gems and secret awesome things but like, they're just really hard to find unless you live there. After my BF picked me up from the Harlingen airport, we were like must have food noooowwww. It was a hangry moment pre-drive to Port Isabel. We tried to go to this one place that has great reviews but sadly, they were out of everything. Actually, it was the most hipster place I've ever seen in the valley. Yep, they're everywhere. So we stopped in La Fogata. Quiet, unassuming, in the midst of what I have to assume is downtown - but a downtown that feels like a ghost town. There's not a ton to say about the atmosphere. Typical strip center taqueria with a few offerings. Not an extensive menu but they got what you need -- tacos, bistek, pastor, pollo. The standout are the lonches. If you've never heard of lonches, you're one of the 99.99% of the population that hasn't. It's not a thing anywhere else but Mexico and now, apparently, the RGV. They're these magical sandwiches that fit in the palm of your hand. The bread appears to be made of a ton of butter with a dash of heaven. Then they stuff that bad boy with meat and onion and cilantro and heaven help you if you can eat just one. They're just delightful. Like a mexican slider of happiness.Some things to prepare for: They don't have tea. They don't do chips and salsa, They don't take cards. They do have a weird candy display of now n laters and assorted mexican treats. Your server will be kind of clueless and not think any of these things are bizarre.

Worst taco place ever. The bistec tacos had a lot of nerve while the edible pieces were bland with no flavor. The cheese they used looked like monterey jack not even mexican cheese like really. We paid for our orders and just threw them away. Don't recommend.

We were in town for a wedding... stopped in for some el pastor tacos... what a great place to eat w/excellent food!

Service was great. Food: i got the taco de bistec combo, it comes w 3 tacos, papa and coke. I love that it automatically comes with cheese and avocado with the price. Got the beans, put salsa and it's good. The papa does need sour cream. It's a bit on the dry side but it's okay. Place: it's located off a main road so parking is limited. The inside is small but still cute looking. They have the novela channel going on and who doesn't like that while having tacos lol Def recommend. Will be going back.

Delicious, tasty, great service & good prices. Friendly service. Even though it's a small place it's clean and cozy. I would recommend it.
