If you are looking for a little Bang for your Buck and early Breakfast dining then Tapia's is the perfect spot. Their Tacos are HUGE! We tried the Bean and cheese, carne guisada, and Potato and Egg. Both were served on freshly made giant homemade tortillas that were perfectly toasty. The Cowboy Omlete was jam-packed with various breakfast meats and super yummy! The pancake platter for adults and kids was great! Giant pancakes too! Loved the salsa, very spicy, and flavorful. Great spot for breakfast after a weekend on the Island.

This is a small gem hidden in Los Fresnos. My wife and I stopped here literally almost on accident....but we decided to step in and try the food. When you step in, you literally feel the mom and pop vibe...the mother cooking in the back while her kids are the one taking orders. The building does feel a little old...so it has a hole in the wall atmosphere.I ordered carne guisada and my wife had enchiladas. My wife loved her enchiladas... didn't want to share. The carne guisada was good...it had the right amount of sauce but I was expecting deeper flavor...maybe it needed a little more salt. The star of the dish were their flour tortillas...made fresh...and about a foot wide. All you need is one and you will be content! This place is also really budget friendly...My wife and I are definitely stopping by again when we pass by Los Fresnos.

This is one of my favorite breakfast places in Los Fresnos ! I've been eating here since I was a kid and it has never disappointed. Not to mention the excellent service, this place has been run by the same family for as long as I can remember. Definite worth a try very chill environment with friendly staff. I mostly order breakfast tacos that are delish ! You can pretty much add whatever you want in the taco and the price is reasonable as well.

Staff is friendly and courtious which is the reason for the second star. Problem is that my food was or tasted reheated. I got potatoe and egg and my potatoes were wrinkled. 1st and last time going there. Oh, restroom needs a new doorknob because you can't lock the door.

Stopped at this family owned restaurant on the way to South Padre Island. It was great find. The customers appeared to regulars as the friendly wait staff. Seemed to know everyone except us. For starters, we got a cup of charro beans instead of the usual chips and salsa. They were some of the most tasty I have ever had. My wife got the Mexican plate which consisted of a cheese enchilada with chili con carne on the top, a beef taco, and beans and rice on the side. I got the lunch special, carnitas in ranchero sauce which came with a side beans and rice, and a large flour tortilla. The pork carnitas were cooked until falling apart tender in mild, but tasty ranchero sauce. Dessert, which came with meal, was the biggest surprise: chocolate and strawberry cake pudding. The entire lunch set us back $18.05, which included the tip. We will keep this little gem in mind.

UPDATE: Tapias is still the best tacos hands down in the Los Fresnos area. We recently came here on Independence Day weekend on a Saturday morning. We came in and sat down. I ordered two potato and egg tacos with square cut potato. Usually I get hash brown in my tacos but I wanted to try something new. I ordered my drink which was coffee and it was the very best and had great taste. Service was a bit slow but it's because it was crowded full of locals and beachgoers. Once I got my tacos I was in taco heaven. They were huge which you can't get in San Antonio. For the most part the restaurant is pretty clean and the food is hot and fresh. And the waitresses are very nice and professional. Prices are very decent and won't break the bank. Don't take the previous review seriously. I've came to this restaurant for over 10 years and everything has been consistent. If you are on your way to South Padre Island and want a good taco consider this place.
