Starlite Burger

Been hitting up Star-lite in Edinburg off 107. I've tried their regular burger, steak burger, onion rings, and burritos... service never fails to be quick, efficient, and the food is deceivingly simple looking but packed full of flavor.This is the fish sandwich from today...looks fairly innocent until you take the first bite. Check the ratio of fish to bread...and it had 2 filets on there as well. I love tartar, here they go with mayo, which also pairs well with the fish burger. Nicely cooked...the right amount of crisp on it, and very fairly priced. Where else do you find a fish burger for about $6? The answer...no where else.And there was some talk on here about burritos...well I've been digging these burritos since my childhood, over 30 years ago. I remember my parents taking me to eat burritos here as a child, well there's a reason why this location has lasted this long to where I can now take my own kids for a burrito. They are nicely fried, have plenty of filling, and are not dried out. Take notes Stripes...this is how burritos are done.This is an Edinburg staple for a reason...5/5 stars.

I had heard a lot of positive things about this business, and was excited to try it, but was unfortunately left disappointed :( the fries were soggy and not fresh, the burrito was undercooked and the sweet tea wasn't of the quality I had expected based on what I knew about the place (tasted similar to lipton powder but with 3x the sugar). The burger was decent, but, (and I hate to say it because I really want to support small businesses over larger chains) a jack n the box meal and a burrito from stripes would have been a higher-quality and cheaper improvement.

I love this place. Burrito Supreme with extra pickles and an extra burrito...mmmm beans are my friends.

They have the most delicious fish and shrimp plate..... it's so hard to choose whAt to eat when you go cause everything is so mouth watering .... the fried chicken is also top notch.... and the portions are way more than enough .... go for a lunch plate and you will leave with lunch and dinner

I frequently support family owned local businesses, however if workers can't bother to provide decent customer service then it's off to the competition who can. Drive thru experience- middle aged woman #1 did NOT put my order through. And lucky me, I was between cars who ordered multiple combos, so I waited 20 minutes for a simple burger. Cashier (middle aged woman #2) didn't even apologize until I paid for my order and I was (rightfully) visibly upset. No small token of apology such as complimentary French fries for the inconvenience, just one "Sorry" AFTER I gave them my money and was told to park at the front of the store for my burger. I don't know who the bigger idiot is, the person working drive thru who claimed I only asked for the price of the burger (?!?! I did not ask-I read the sign- OWN UP to YOUR MISTAKE) or me for giving them business and sticking around for my burger. Thanks for wasting my time and gas! The biggest slap in the face was that they couldn't even be bothered to say sorry for the inconvenience we've caused you. Too bad there is not a corporate office to complain to, which is probably why this established business can get away with being unapologetic for their mistakes. Food was decent, but customers should not have to deal with discourteous workers, especially in the (greasy) food industry.

I have to give this place 5 stars, it's been open for 40 years or more I think and it's still going strong. The food is always on point even though it's a bit greasy or maybe that's just because of what I order lol it's always good hot and the customer service is always great as well. It's a clean place, inside everything is always picked up and they're always there to ask you the need anything if you do decide to eat inside. The drive thru they have is pretty fast and they never seem to mess up your order. I'll definitely be back as I've been coming since I can remember, gotta love that fried fish sandwich with fries you I have so please don't stop serving it.

This place has stood the test of time for one reason only! Great fried chicken & burgers! Been here since the 1950's ! Beats Churches & all the other fried chicken franchises! Highly recommend! Hope it's here a long long time! Great Job!

When it came to eating at local burger joints in Edinburg, outside of Whataburger, Starlite wasn't really on my radar. I often went to Spot Burger or Hamburger King. So fast forward 40 years and I decided to give it a chance. I ordered burgers and fried chicken for the family. The burger was messy, and I'm not expecting it to look like it came from a 5-star restaurant, but the veggies (lettuce, tomato and onions) didn't look fresh. The top bun was cracked as if the bread had been sitting out in the open for a few days, regardless it was still an okay burger. The French Fries tasted like they could have had potential earlier in the day as my batch came in over cooked and burnt. The fried chicken was crispy but overcooked. Of course I came by 10 minutes before they were closing for the night. Late night dining isn't always the freshest or the tastiest as the workers are pretty anxious to close up and go home. I might go earlier in the day next time I'm back home.

The bacon cheeseburger combo was delicious. Service was fast. Very family friendly place. Clean place. Drive thru in a breeze.

Favorite spot to eat for the moment. Burgers have a unique taste and whoever says it tastes bad is a hater.
